Like #100. I really appreciate the time you spent sharing this! I have had an EQM35 mount for 4 years and have struggled with it the whole time, trying to get my laptop and multiple apps to talk to it, but to no avail. I ordered the Plus and expect it to arrive today or tomorrow, so this is the perfect preparatory video for me by showing me that it can control just about any mount including mine. I plan to use my Nikon DSLR and lenses. Maybe someday I'll get a telescope, but not yet.
I struggled a lot using a laptop for Astrophotography. I love the ASIair! It has really simplified and streamlined the process, and it has sped up my setup and tear down time significantly.
I’m glad I stopped myself going down that path and bought the asi air plus. I also have the gti mount and image with a dslr until my new scope arrives Friday so this was great to see. PA will be a challenge as I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 so that new option they’ve added will hopefully help 😁
@@Si-fp2ij it takes a bit to get used to it, but once you do it a few times, it’s easy! Just follow the arrows and make small movements and refresh. Clear skies down unda!

I´m not the only one geting problems with new firmware of Asiair Plus. The Go Home and Goto just does not work at all. It shows as AM5 was moving but nothing hapened. This also screw the guiding up. The worst is that you can ask it to restore the older firmware but when you try to use again it obligates you to install the update again. Nights lost. Turning it off and using the AM5 app it works perfectly. The same with sharpcap, Nina etc.
Mine updated automatically, and the first night it worked fine. I did have some issues with my autofocuser the other night that had never happened before the update. It was very frustrating. Hoping they release an update with bug fixes soon.
Awesome video. I have ordered my ASIAir Plus and was hoping to see someone use it for a demo/tutorial using just a camera and a lens with the GTi instead of an imaging telescope and guide scope. So thank you. I have 2 questions: 1. You first connected to the wifi of the ASIAir Plus and then later on used station mode to connect the mount from inside your home. If I am using an ipad and have the ipad connet to the ASIAir Plus' wifi, can I not control the rig over that wifi or that wifi wont connect the ipad if the ipad moves away to a certain distance? If i connect to the sation mode of my home wifi network, would the mount connect properly or it'll drop wifi and I find out later that i wasted 2+ hours? If I am on location, and I choose to wait in my car, what wifi should I connect to--the ASIAir Plus' wifi or my phone's hotspt? 2. When you were demonstrating the All Sky feature there were 2 rectangles--one blue and one red. The blue was fixed but the red one was moving along. What's the difference between them and why or how the red rectangle was rotating as you were moving across the screen? What's the purpose of the 2 rectangles? 3. To set up the Lights/Darks/Bias/Flats, how do I do that? The darks have to be taken immediately after your light sequence with the lens cover on and in the fiel. The flats and bias frames are to be done inside. Every sequence has different EXIFs--so do I have to have different Darks/Flats/Biases based on the EXIFs of the lights right? Sorry, for my silly questions. I appreciate your respone.
Thanks! As long as you stay fairly close to your ASIair, you can just stay connected to its WiFi. If you went out to a dark site, you should be able to use it from your car as long as you are fairly close to your rig. The rectangles represent your scope and the target. If you don’t like how you have your object framed, you can adjust it in the sky atlas, and it should show one of the rectangles going over to where you just aimed. I mostly shoot with cooled cameras now, so I have a dark and bias library. I shoot lights as an auto run session, and when I’m done with that, I’ll shoot my flats in auto run using auto exposure and a drawing/tracing light panel.
Thank you! I just ordered the ASIAIR mini and I wanted to understand how will I connect everything (I know it doesn’t have a memory slot). Have you used a RJ45 cable instead of the USB-A to connect the mount? I’ve watched some UA-camrs use that one, but I’m not sure what’s the difference. Thank you!!
I just use the supplied cable that came with my mounts to hook up to the ASIair. I used to connect wirelessly with a SynScan WiFi dongle, but I don’t miss all of those extra steps. I never could get the rj45 cables to work on my eq6.
@@JeffGraham-b2z it’s off by default when you start up. When I slew to something it turns on. You can turn it on if you like once you power everything on.
I noticed there is a micro SD port on the Asiair Plus. Have you used that port vs the USB stick in the USB 3 port? How good is the manual? I don’t see a download on the ZWO website?
It gives you an option to use the SD card, but I usually just use a usb stick. The old ASIair Pro had the actual program installed on the SD card, and I didn’t want to corrupt it. I’m not sure about the manual, I think it’s a basic walkthrough. I love using this thing compared to my laptop!

Great information, I am getting this tracker and will probably do the same setup. Thanks .
It’s a great combo for quick setups. I’m hoping I get to use mine this weekend.
