The guy who lied needs to spend 39 years in prison, literally
Square3734 u mean life😉
He was only 12 years old and was pressured by the investigators to lie about it. He actually was the one that came forward and reopened the case that got him freed. The police are to blame here, they wanted a quick arrest without evidence.
yea life
John Kayem it’s the 70’s still somewhat in the civil rights era
Wait sentence him to death for week then tell him it was a joke and then tell him he has to serve the same time as his victim 39 years
& the key witness should do prison time for lying
Mel vasquez he was 12 😂

@@EstherOlagboye Police can pressure a 12 year old to say whatever they want him to. The Central Park 5 were much older teenagers
That's what ive said. He should do the same amount as these poor fellas!!!!
Unfortunately there are thousands upon thousands of innocent people in prison.
Tony Montana with all the people who do bad crimes and lie about it, it’s hard to not have that happen.
Tony Montana : Yes thats true, but not one single soul has gone unnoticed by TMHG. HE KNOW'S they will be compensated. On the other hand, those who take part in
deliberate unrightous convictions, he saw that too. They will will PAY DEARLY....FOR 1000 YRS.

These men deserve not only an apology. They deserve MONEY.
+Brandon Petruska I think they get a settlement for the time they spent, but they wouldn't be getting enough for the years that were stolen from them.
+Brandon Petruska they deserve 39 years back..
+azzorzer If science can figure out how to reverse-age people, this is probably the one case where the benefits outweigh the consequences. Not that even that would be enough, since the people they knew have aged or died.
+azzorzer well said!
+Brandon Petruska Money cannot make up for lost years. Nothing can, sadly. They can just live the rest of their lives happiily
The witness that lied after 39 years should be put in prison
@Corrupt famous. That should including those lazy liars of police investigators. They'd done a bad job as usual and that was so common back then. Poor families, that had suffered throughout such nasty ordeal.
The kid was 12 and I'm sure the police had a lot to do with it
Amen , he'll yes to put these guys through what they've gone through, justice needs to be done for these guys
damn right
39 years of depression in prison?? They are mentally and physically strong..💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
39 years he should have got millions in compensation.
Denise G- Hill millions won’t bring back the 39 years and his parents it’s just the fact that nothing can be done about. Their years that they served. Them millions won’t bring back his mother or father it’s just so stupid that the police rely on what a 12 year old child said

And this is why the death penalty needs to be outlawed. How can anyone be 100% sure they are executing the right man based on a racists and corrupt police system, gullible jurors and prosecutors who are in bed with cops and worry more about their political careers than the people they serve?
MrSupermanbe I disagree on the race part but okay
@@PinkCow0 we don't have to agree but I can tell you that the system is racist, no one is saying it is intentionally racist. This could be a systemic psychological legacy of the "slaver catcher" days and the police system was not built to protect the "slaves" but to protect against them.
Having studied organisational dynamics you can't deny the impact the slave days have had on today's police force. Like we don't have to agree as we see things differently. Those that see things my way are advocating for police to be defunded and an alternative to the current system of policing found and implemented because the policing methodology (not reason, methodology) that is being done today is the same as the slavery days.
MrSupermanbe I appreciate that you didn’t try to make me agree
That’s so heartbreaking to hear his parents died while he was in prison. They can never get back the years they lost...
My heart ached for him when he cried like a baby. My God, I feel his pain!
That's the most painful part
Almost 40 years later, the key witness in the Ricky Jackson case admitted he lied. 40 years...How could this guy even sleep at night knowing he sent an innocent man to jail, to death row? How?! So sad!
bigolinomaster yeah it finally got to him after 40 YEARS. Damn that’s a long time
Police 👮♀️ intimidation that’s how. They can scare a grown man into giving false testimony. This was a 12 year old.
Given he was just a kid it wouldn’t surprise me if he was coerced by police. Still, I remember when he was released, Jackson said he didnt bear malice toward him.
It appears to me someone owes these men some money
Definitely
most definitely something!
Exactly but all the government will give them is "my bad"

20 years in prison wrongfully convicted. This is not justice. I hope these gentlemen sue the state for every year they spend in prison.
Unfortunately, they can only sue in civil court, for money only. It's up to the police or the District Attorney to file criminal charges, which NEVER happens. The cops have the blue wall of silence, and the DA works directly with the police on a variety of issues, creating a conflict of interest. Real justice is a very long ways off still. Cases like these break my heart.

I’m not an emotional person, but for some reason this touched me a lot and I’m in tears. I can’t believe how the justice system works, and how these innocent men managed to stay positive after so many years of their lives being robbed from them, they deserve so much ❤️
they deserve $100,000,000 every single one of them! they were in prison for 20 years for no reason.. imagine being locked up with no freedom and not being able to see your family for 20 years when u fucking did nothing.

Wow!!!!!
I can only imagine
The pain and suffering
For them. My GOD Bless
Them!!!!!
I'm not familiar with American law but doesn't the state have to pay these poor people, who have been wrongfully incarcerated, a high compensation for pain and suffering?
+Anna H. they will have to put a motion to sue the police, the prosecution lawyers and anyone else-along with the respective companies that they work for-for Wrongful Arrest, Wrongful prosecution, compensation for lost-of-freedom and so forth. But you will think that, since the courts accuses them for whatever reason..and manages to break it down into separate charges (ex: a person shots and kills another, they won't be charged JUST for murder..they will be charged for murder in the first and second degree...which has their own preferred time in prison-and depending on how it led up to the murder stage, the accused will be charged for that...that the judicial system would automatically have a compensation guideline in place.
Sarah Vargas, thank you! 😊 So, it may take months or years until they might get some compensation. That's sad after all they've been through...
Anna H. .
Anna H. You would think so. Sadly, in Amerikkka, simply being black is a crime and these men will most likely receive nothing.
Anna H. yes they're supposed to but they're trying to pass laws so
they don't have to

Monica Lawrence The same kind of stuff happens to white people. America is not racist, but the media sure wants you to think so.
Nate Barry Oh please! Pease save it for someone who never lives it, witnesses it, or feels it. I do not listen to everything the media says , because it's never accurate. I'm talking facts, and everyone knows it, and will agree that America is the most racist country on the planet when comes down to black people. It is only America white people (some) would disagree. Remember They/ You have a history? A terrible one to. For the pass 400 plus years that history has been repeating itself!!!
thats why black people are always behind all other people. always blame it on others or on the system. all other races made it, asians, natives, but when the black people cant get their asses up its cuzz everybody is racist !!!111!!!11

Blacks are wrongly accused quite often. So let's not even go there
Ikr. Fuck this stupid ass fake social "experiments" that make sheep cry. This video is what people should be crying over
And people will wonder why black people are so angry and oppose the system. These are one of the reasons folks. There is no human being that will be upset at any system that treats them justly. Yeah there are bad people in every race or community but when you start treating people as individuals and treat every case as a unique event then most of wrong incarceration will be avoided.I know I am probably talking to thin air but it is the truth.

they should sentence that witness who lied to 20 years in prison.
Proving that a witness lied (intentionally made a false statement) is an extremely difficult thing to do.
It took 20 years to figure this shit out smh. I hope they get well paid I mean millions
Brandon Jackson unfortunately they only granted them 25k. Sad.
I think over 20k is enough cookie cutter sharks...
SRRN Insect no 20k is nothing for 20 years bloody hell they need minimum 10,000,000
10k per year is what a person makes usually, so for 20 years they have to give 200k for each one of them plus the money for wasting their lives in a jail, that would be like 100k for each. So 300k for each is plenty of money to build a life but it's to much money so instead of giving more than those 300k each, they should put someone managing the money, like a social worker or something, to keep them from fucking the money. Like, you can have this amount but if only it is to buy a home and build your life. Something like keeping an eye on what they are spending and if it says something bad, blocking the money.
Monk Wales I'm just going to expect you're young but 10k is less than the poverty line. Most middle class people make 50-70k a year.
I'm so happy to see Ricky Jackson there to show support! Those men certainly deserve their freedom , an apology and compensation for the time that they will never have back. God bless them all!
This is a bigger deal than most realize, nah it ain’t just ahh “they took 39 years of his life” they literally took about half of his ONE AND ONLY life away. Just really think about how bad that is. We will all die and imagine wrongfully being accused and jailed for even one year of your only life.
the sad part is now this man who was wrongfully accused can't get certain jobs or even vote...

+suomynona I'm thinking that if the sentences were vacated then they are not considered felons anymore. The problem I think they will face is gaining employment. After his release, Jackson was awarded $1 million dollars in 2015 in compensation by the state of Ohio for his decades in prison due to the wrongful conviction.[8] In 2016 he received an additional $2.65 million settlement from the state Court of Claims, based on estimates of lost income.[9] Jackson is believed to have served the longest prison term of anyone in the United States who has been exonerated.
In April 2015, the Bridgeman brothers were awarded a combined $1.6 million in compensation for their imprisonment. Wiley Bridgeman was to receive $969,093, after serving 37 years, and Kwame Ajamu to get $647,578; he had served 28 years.[10] In April 2016, it was announced that the Bridgeman brothers would receive an additional $4.38 million in compensation from the state. A judge approved the settlement that will award Wiley Bridgeman about $2.4 million and Kwame Ajuba $2 million.

all ya just shut up, and I hope these wrongly convicted people will sue them broke, sue the crap out the judicial system
Dennis Clark
i so agree with the sue part you mentioned.
Dennis Clark
Unfortunately the judicial system in some of these districts make it so that people have to sign paperwork stating both parties agree to not try the case again and the affected persons will not sue. The district attorneys and police officers get away with these injustices Scott free without any repercussions. You know this country is fucked up when Hulk Hogan can receive $100 million for a leaked sex tape and an innocent man who spent more than half his life in prison for a crime he didn't commit has to just accept his freedom as payment and move on with his life.
What if the wrongfully convicted ("affected persons") decline to sign those paperwork, is there recourse for justice?

most black men are wrongfully locked up-
why can I say that with certainty?
1- if there is no victim there is no crime.
every soul put in a cage because he put something in his own body is no criminal.
2- The reality is this- Study and study shows that if you don't have much contact with Chinese (for example) their faces tend to look alike. So if a 'white' victim hasn't had much contact with black face types it far easier for them to falsely identify a suspect.

As a black American every year is racist years lol racism will never end and that’s the sad reality
It's so unfortunate that that one mans parents died so now he can't even touch them, he missed so much from his parents thanks to the people that lied.
Cases like this not only make me speechless, I am out of breath. And not out of excitement.
I watched this over and over and feel the same emotions im so happy for them
