He was only 12 years old and was pressured by the investigators to lie about it. He actually was the one that came forward and reopened the case that got him freed. The police are to blame here, they wanted a quick arrest without evidence.

And this is why the death penalty needs to be outlawed. How can anyone be 100% sure they are executing the right man based on a racists and corrupt police system, gullible jurors and prosecutors who are in bed with cops and worry more about their political careers than the people they serve?

@@PinkCow0 we don't have to agree but I can tell you that the system is racist, no one is saying it is intentionally racist. This could be a systemic psychological legacy of the "slaver catcher" days and the police system was not built to protect the "slaves" but to protect against them.
Having studied organisational dynamics you can't deny the impact the slave days have had on today's police force. Like we don't have to agree as we see things differently. Those that see things my way are advocating for police to be defunded and an alternative to the current system of policing found and implemented because the policing methodology (not reason, methodology) that is being done today is the same as the slavery days.

This is so sad it just breaks my ❤. To think that his beloved parents never got to see this day when he was released. The judicial system failed them in so many ways and they cannot regain what they lost behind bars. I hope and🙏you all find inner peace over time, strength and happiness as you all deserve it. I am still crying😢 as no innocent person deserves this. Wishing you all the very best in life. Sending much love from 🇨🇦

    • @PryncessNubiiaa

+Anna H. they will have to put a motion to sue the police, the prosecution lawyers and anyone else-along with the respective companies that they work for-for Wrongful Arrest, Wrongful prosecution, compensation for lost-of-freedom and so forth. But you will think that, since the courts accuses them for whatever reason..and manages to break it down into separate charges (ex: a person shots and kills another, they won't be charged JUST for murder..they will be charged for murder in the first and second degree...which has their own preferred time in prison-and depending on how it led up to the murder stage, the accused will be charged for that...that the judicial system would automatically have a compensation guideline in place.

And people will wonder why black people are so angry and oppose the system. These are one of the reasons folks. There is no human being that will be upset at any system that treats them justly. Yeah there are bad people in every race or community but when you start treating people as individuals and treat every case as a unique event then most of wrong incarceration will be avoided.I know I am probably talking to thin air but it is the truth.

10k per year is what a person makes usually, so for 20 years they have to give 200k for each one of them plus the money for wasting their lives in a jail, that would be like 100k for each. So 300k for each is plenty of money to build a life but it's to much money so instead of giving more than those 300k each, they should put someone managing the money, like a social worker or something, to keep them from fucking the money. Like, you can have this amount but if only it is to buy a home and build your life. Something like keeping an eye on what they are spending and if it says something bad, blocking the money.

After his release, Jackson was awarded $1 million dollars in 2015 in compensation by the state of Ohio for his decades in prison due to the wrongful conviction.[8] In 2016 he received an additional $2.65 million settlement from the state Court of Claims, based on estimates of lost income.[9] Jackson is believed to have served the longest prison term of anyone in the United States who has been exonerated.
In April 2015, the Bridgeman brothers were awarded a combined $1.6 million in compensation for their imprisonment. Wiley Bridgeman was to receive $969,093, after serving 37 years, and Kwame Ajamu to get $647,578; he had served 28 years.[10] In April 2016, it was announced that the Bridgeman brothers would receive an additional $4.38 million in compensation from the state. A judge approved the settlement that will award Wiley Bridgeman about $2.4 million and Kwame Ajuba $2 million.

Unfortunately the judicial system in some of these districts make it so that people have to sign paperwork stating both parties agree to not try the case again and the affected persons will not sue. The district attorneys and police officers get away with these injustices Scott free without any repercussions. You know this country is fucked up when Hulk Hogan can receive $100 million for a leaked sex tape and an innocent man who spent more than half his life in prison for a crime he didn't commit has to just accept his freedom as payment and move on with his life.

most black men are wrongfully locked up-
why can I say that with certainty?
1- if there is no victim there is no crime.
every soul put in a cage because he put something in his own body is no criminal.
2- The reality is this- Study and study shows that if you don't have much contact with Chinese (for example) their faces tend to look alike. So if a 'white' victim hasn't had much contact with black face types it far easier for them to falsely identify a suspect.
