    Of course top 1 must be the magical Altitudes. So many emotions, it drives you to the deepest of your fantasy and mind. It whispers to you like a singer. The guitar in this song is the greatest thing I have ever heard. No way to describe it. It speaks to you and it melts down your heart.

      +HarvesterOfSorrow01 Never really was impressed with any other shred thrash metal classical guitarist , this impresses me. The dude IS the Guitar. His finger fly. I can just picture him as a young teen , hanging out at home unplugged with his Carver just running the frets.. Mom saying " I'll buy you a guitar but you have to learn classical too , Jason" . Probably didn't happen that way , but that's how I picture this badass back , way back in the day.

      I've played for just over 40 years. Listening to Van today and all the shit he came up with is simply incredible as there are so many techniques to list. He blew the doors off when he came around in the 70's. Becker is a mutant shredder for sure but unfortunately was robbed so young. Also got to give props to Ed for writing so many great songs. Cheers.

    • @LogioTek
      @LogioTek 4 роки тому +10

      @@punishr36 Guitar is fun and all but Becker is a whole different beast when it comes to composing music and orchestrating/arranging, especially in classical forms. His classical pieces would for sure surprise many great classical composers. And he is still doing it to this day (Triumphant Hearts, end of 2018). My personal favorite classical composition of his is 'Life and Death' m.ua-cam.com/video/FUS-sJMDiso/v-deo.html but everything he composed on a classical side is at masterpiece level. And that's what separates him from the other players, he literally absorbed the influences of no less than 300 years of Western music that came before him.

      Disagree. You’re saying that speed determines how great a player is? He also plays faster than Pat Metheny. Is he better than Pat or Larry Carlton? No. Different styles of music but speed makes no difference. Eddie wasn’t just about shredding and he’s said it many times.

    • @PatRguitar
      @PatRguitar 4 роки тому +2

      @@jasoncharles9481 I didn't mention speed at all in my comment. Infact I think speed has little to do with the excellence of a player.

    The very best to ever pick up a guitar simple as that... at 15 16 17 years old he could play anything and composed masterful works before he hit 18 years of age... a prodigy I believe he'd be writing orchestral pieces if he had not taken ill...indeed he has with the use of his eyes ... I can't imagine what he could have done if he was able bodied with 30 years of guitar behind him... wow scary skills then 😳 untouchable ... his is the sadest story in music imho and the most inspiring at the same time... love you Jason Becker ..God bless you

      I have analyzed them for years, and a large part of jason's licks are based on marty's ideas, jason's style shines to the max in mabels and dweler in the cellar, opus pocus, serrana. In this and in temple of absurde it sounds more the style of marty than the one of jason

      You have no Fucking clue. Air was written for his Parents and Altitudes is all him. Marty is the Thief. Jason hasn't played for over 25 years and Marty still can't touch him. This is not between them though it's just you claiming to know all when you don't know shit

    The day Jason was diagnosed with ALS, was the day the world was robbed from a legend. God I hope someone finds a way to get him back to doing his solos.

    Bruce Bouillet from Racer X is probably one of the most underrated guitarrist.

      You’re not wrong. To keep up with Gilbert is almost impossible. He was probably an even better sweeper.

    One-Jason was 16 when he was signed!! Doing this at a time when there basically was noone to go off of...Even joe sat,Steve Vai was'nt playing like this..I took lessons from Greg and Jason was a great friend of Greg's(played on gregs first album) We can all ask where and what would Jason be doing today..He was Fuckin amazing especially being So young with so much Ear,Dexterity,Songcrafting,ect..His classical sense without even being out of Highschool..deserves all the respect..

    If Jason can still perform, he will give Malmsteen a run for his money and even some of the top current guitarist.This guy ROCKS period!! What a cruel blow fate hand it to him. With all the medical advances I wish him a speedy recovery as the world will always need another topnotch guitarist.

    Hell yeah, the dude was the most technical guitar player to EVER play. His technique is simply untouchable. His music is brilliant, but vastly unappreciated by most people. I'd kill to have his skills.

    If you're more into songwriting, I suggest checking out his second album if you haven't already! It's called 'Perspective' if I remember correctly, and there is a lot less shredding, and a lot more musical aspects!
