im playing drums for the first time at my church this wednesday and this song has been stressing me out alot. but ive watched this tutorial at least 20 times and got it down haha! thanks so much keep up the great work!
Thats awesome to be playing drums at church. Just remember to worship whenever you're up there. You'd be suprised how God can move through your drumming when you simply just worship.
I mean it's an easy song since they are just build ups then full beat then build up again and then full beat but then again I pick up things very quickly
Thanks for posting this. I'm a very slow learner but I have to do it. I'm playing at our local church since our drummer has been deployed far away. So help me God.
I'm a metal drummer so this really helped simplify things as for I make things way too flashy than what they are supposed to be this is a great help thank you
Bro this song touches my heart..at 70 2024 my final B degree Ministry schooled as a scientist...God bless you and Gods children out there Amen practising drums..God is great
This is a blessing. I was using my kids page, and look for the lessons to help me bless our worship team with my love for drums and using them to praise God. Thank you for this. I'm a 47 year young lol worship team drummer. God bless you for this. It helped.
*_I really like your youtube videos cause you give tutorials with play-through and like a text to let us know what part it is in the song right now, this is really helpful to me, thank you so much! God bless you!
my dad said i am going to leand worship with him this week and i didnt even know how to play this song... ao i watched this tutorial and it helped me out so much!!!! thank you!
Your tutorials are great and have really helped me with my drumming that I started a year ago. It's really easy to see what you playing from the colour of your kit and the floor and the top down view and camera for the kit. Keep the uploads coming and praying for God's grace downloads for you lol :)
Good work, man! This kind of videos with just this upper point of view and no cuts is REALLY helpful to understand the song... If I can make a suggestion, you could add a metronome on the playthrough videos, and the correct speed on the corner of the screen or in the description... And maybe a point of light on your right foot. This area is pretty dark... 😬 Please keep it up the good work and dont mind my English mistakes, it is a work in progress... 😅
In June of 1974, I was 13 years old; I began playing drums in church. Back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, drums began to show-up as part of church worship bands. Actually, it was pretty controversial in those days. There were times that I found criticism with those in the congregation. Many older, mature Christians stated that I was playing "the devil's music." All the while the lyrics were proclaiming Jesus and salvation. I found that particularly discouraging. Well, that and the fact that many of the older hymns weren't fertile grounds for creativity. Contemporary Christian Music and Christian Rock exploded onto the scene as I was gaining experience in playing. I was able to incorporate those drum chops into some of the congregational modern songs. So, I suppose I've seen and experienced a lot of things regarding "church music". Some great, while others not so much. Every Sunday morning is a series of worship songs with their construction grounded in anthems, while others are designed for contemplative moments. There's not a lot of middle ground. This month, June of 2023, I enter into my 50th year of playing drums. About 60 to 65% of my playing through the years has been in church worship settings. I'm thankful for an opportunity to bring worship to our Lord and Savior, as well as learn about music theory and the dynamics of delivering a powerful song. It's been an interesting ride. For all of the young drummers, whether church related or secular, don't lose sight of your goals or let anyone talk you out of opportunities. You are the next generation of musicians, and you are vital to whatever you set your heart and mind to endeavor. Whatever you do, strive to be great and a viral asset to whatever music you play. I'll be watching for the next wave of creative players. Light & Love. ❤
The second verse is how I use my ride and toms, taught myself that. Good to know I have ok rhythm. My big issue I’m dealing with is being ambidextrous with the sticks. “Doing different rhythms with both sticks at the same time!”
Hey bro great videos truly help on days I have to cover drums! May I make one suggestion? Can u put BPMs maybe in the corner or something to just help look at while playing and keeping on beat......appreciate ya!
Love these tutorials! If I could suggest one thing I would say to add a click track behind the video to help break down the fills etc based on placement as well. Thanks again, great work!
Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. That's actually a great idea, I will definitely consider that. Do you mean adding click to this video, or the ones where I break down every part?
also, you should try putting an energy or contact on the bottom of those hats instead of a bliss. it would probably make it wash out a little less. i’d be curious to hear it!

Timothy Cincala I meant the play through video, not the break down. I appreciate the consideration!

You are playing so well
Thanks for the kind words!
also, you should try putting an energy or contact on the bottom of those hats instead of a bliss. it would probably make it wash out a little less. i’d be curious to hear it!
That's a good idea, might try it!
