- Take to the skies again in this "relaunch" of Randall Standridge's work Afterburn. Rescored, revoiced, and with new harmonic and countermelodic gestures, this new edition maintains the energy and fun of the original while creating more engaging moments for ALL musicians. We hope you enjoy this reimagining of a well-loved piece for band!
My band won a contest with this song! Both the relaunch and the original is awesome in every way! 🤩🤩🤩
We played the original version of Afterburn in my band two years ago now. I liked how the song sounded but most of the Clarinet section didn't like to play it. Seeing the tweaked version brought back some really fond memories around that concert. I think we also played Darklands March, which is still in my top three favorite pieces. My first year of band I almost quit, because I didn't like how much time I had to put into practicing and playing in order to get better. Then I saw one of your posts about how far staying in music has carried you. Now, I've been first chair, our band won a superior rating at a festival a few months ago, and I'm going into high school as the only Clarinet in the higher band.
We played it in Band Camp a few years before, and I loved it so much! Sadly a few years later COVID came, and then highschool and I didn't persue band any further, but I really miss it sometimes!
same, I played it my 8th grade year on tuba, it was extremely fun, we got superior at a few festivals last year as well! (on a different instrument tho)
Playing the same song and im a clarinet player I can agree my ssection didn't like it cuse the parts are the same 90% of the song and that's boards us and it's tedious overall . We are playing this song for our spring concert.
Same and I got into Allstate and this guy was my conductor and I got to play Darklands Not alone Autum Light Afterburn relaunch currently play the original not freaked version and Slavs march all by him he is a great composer
Omg.. I go to omni Middle School, and we are playing this.. It feels like ur at Disneyland.
Yo ty. Im a baritone player and i have to play tgis song for my concert. So i played the music and okayed along with tbe song. Ince again thank you ❤
My kid had to learn this piece in under 2.5 days during a bad workshop for primary school seniors and it came out amazing. Really impressive and sticks with you.
My favorite thing about this song is that recurring rhythm the Alto Saxes and the French Horns have. Sounds really good!
I played snare to this in band for my concert. By far my favorite piece.
I did bells.
I have my concert today! Playing snare!
@@BoredSwiftie22do you go to ECMS by chance
@@Ormile1 No I go somewhere else
I remember this being my absolute favorite piece back when i was in 6th grade.
I played this song for a middle school honors band. It was so so so much fun being in percussion for this one.
Fr I was on bells
It's so awesome to hear a rejuvenation of this piece. I remember conducting the original and it'll be so cool to bring this new one into my band repertoire next year = )
played this as a french horn at our winter concert a few months backk SO FUN TO PLAY
Playing this at our concert on June 19th 2023 can wait any longer
Played this at all region this year
I was supposed to play the original for honors band back in February but I had some how managed to catch Covid the day before and never got to perform it and I was the lead trumpet too. But this piece is one of the best I have played, Randall you are an amazing composer!!!
Thank you, Zubluu!
playing this on monday… wish me luck ( GO TUBA)!!!
Good luck I am playing this on Thursday
The updated song came out right before band camp. We were the first to play this song. (I think)
If it ever comes around where you live, go see the show Blast !
The best concert show ever. There are a few clips on youtube.
I played this piece in SEVENTH GRADE a few days ago at our concert and even WE didn't go this fast - I can't imagine kids FIVE YEARS YOUNGER THAN ME doing this... WOW!!
Edit: I feel so stupid but in my defense I was never taught that it was a difficulty. 😃👍
It doesn't mean second grade in terms of 1-12. 2nd grade is a difficulty rating for music
yeah grade two is actually like upper middle lower high
Thanks for clearing that up. My music teacher doesn't talk about that stuff. She never even told me the timpani is also known as the kettle drum. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just never taught that. 😅
Grade 2 is the song rating, which is 6-8 grade. I am in seventh too and we are playing it in the honor band that I made, I’m first chair.
@@LyricMoore-oz3gk i’m in eighth, third chair trumpet, playing this and pink panther. how is this and pink panther the same rating 😭 this is so easy
I play the trombone in this song
I was tuba
