It's so pretty there! I wish there were videos like this for every duty station. It would make things so much easier being able to see the area before a PCS.
I literally cried for a hour or so this morning when I found out we were coming here. But then I found your channel and now I'm looking forward to it. Thank you for making videos. It may not be much to some but y'all have really gave me the strength to be able to go through with this pcs. I was shocked to see Michaels and JoAnne. The wives on the white walls page must not live at this installation.
KWoods oh girl it is definitely not THAT bad. I was super scared and nervous when we found out we were moving here... but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Alaska is extremely beautiful. The summers are amazing times to go on road trips and let me tell you... the views are surreal. Fairbanks isn't a busy town but it has a good amount of stores here. (Wish we had dollar stores though lol) I am so happy the video helped you! When are y'all coming here? And where are you from?
We will be there in July. I was mainly upset because we just got back from Hawaii a year ago. I was thinking we were going to go crazy being secluded off again and plus this time around we have a child. I'm going to hate for her being away from family but the 3 years really goes by fast. We are in Texas now but I'm originally from SC and my husband is originally from Philly
Thanks for sharing!! Boy had it grown since we were there (11 yrs ago) Half the stores you were showing weren't there!! I believe Walmart had just opened a few months before we left. My husband bought an anniversary ring at Zales there in the Bentley Mall. Great Memories!! Take care and stay positive because (as you probably know) those winter months are a little rough. We got there Dec 2001, had a 9 week old baby, postpartum kicked in real quick. After adjusting, loved the next four years and didn't want to leave. Love, love the summers!!
Oh wow .. My husband asked if you guys are still in the military? And yes I'm sure fairbanks is going to get more and more store throughout the years and probably be like Anchorage. The winter months (Thank the lord) have been pretty good. It's getting warmer every year. Yes! Love the summers too.
no unfortunately not. he retired 2010. one day i would like to take my daughter on a trip back there. she was 4 when we left so she doesn't remember to much of it. i am now in illinois near scott afb, which is about 20 miles from St louis. well thanks for writing back and wish you and your family the best!! Take care and telling hubby Thank you for his service!!
I'm sure it will. I lived on post on 9th street a stones throw from the shopette and hospital. I worked at Clothing issue facility (CIF) Assigned to hq usag. never spent anytime in the field.
Thanks for the video we are going to move there in November. We are scared but at the same time excited about it. My husband is on the military too so we are excited and i see you videos and feel great because you make me feel more relax about the things in Alaska
My dad was stationed at the Air Force base down the long road from the Army base back in 2004. They had just got a Walmart at that point. Lowe’s was still being built and the mall had a book store and some other random shops. I HATED being in Alaska. But boy has it really changed I wouldn’t mind if we could have been stationed there in 2016 lol!!! It looks more like the lower 48’s now. I loved Fred Meyer I do wish we had that on the East Cost lol 😂
Did u go visit? How did it go? Can u tell me more for a person that will be living there for about 3 years.. at the end of this year.. I’m really wanting to know anything, like a nutshell description of the town & schools..
Fort Wainwright isn't that bad. You just have to stay busy once your get here....Summers are amazing for road trips. Once you drive down to mount denali which is 2 hours away going towards anchorage you will see amazing views.
I lived there from the age of 3-12, now I'm 41. I don't recognize a thing there, of course I was just a kid living there. I remember going to Chena Lake during the summer and hanging out, is that still a thing? My dad worked at West Valley high school. I pretty much went to every elementary school in Fairbanks as my parents moved around a lot. My best childhood memories were made there.
Since this video, the only remaining Blocckbuster left in America is in Oregon. Just so you know. Oh, and the Sears and Sam’s Club are now a U-Haul and Costco respectively.
Kickass tour ........ not sure if u all been asked or if u all have talked about it before but y don't u all live on base or if there is on base living ???? And GO COWBOYS
This was a right on video! I’m coming back for Xmas 2017. Is there any place to buy real tamales or do you know someone who makes them and sells them? My son will be restationed in California so coming to AK for the last time. Thanks in advance for lookin out . Merry Christmas to your family
Hello I love ur all video’s my husband got his order will be in fort wainwright on august.. How many community there? Is it easy to apply the housing on post? Which community u recommend? Let us know 🙏🏻
There are like 8 communities . We lived in the northern lights community and LOVED it. It is close to the CDC and the elementary school on base and have heated flooring, 2 living areas and the rooms and a good size . It felt like home. I will link a couple videos down below for you. They usually have a waiting list so try to get on that ASAP. Our Northern lights townhome:ua-cam.com/video/f3MBd7GhB0Q/v-deo.html A tour of Fort wainwright Army base & all of the communities (how they look from the outside) :ua-cam.com/video/aMDjo63Hyk4/v-deo.html
