- One of 6.3 million Golfs 2 produced in the years 1983 - 1992 will be presented in this episode. First Golf introduced in 1974 was a very late reply of VW to market trends of the era: a car with front-wheel drive and engine on the front. It took nearly 10 years to complete the development of the first model that was designed by famous Giorgetto Giugiaro. The second generation was a design inspiration for this project and was a big success (who can say he never has seen a Golf?). The newest, 8th generation was introduced in 2019.
The car presented in today's episode is 1.6 liters, 75 PS version with automatic transmission, this setup was not very common to see on European roads. Probably the American version called "Rabbit" instead of Golf was more often equipped with this type of transmission? Will the 31 years old automatic transmission work good enough to keep up with modern traffic? Jump with me into the car to find out! Car Rambler's opinion about the tested car: Overall needs love and attention, still a good runner for everyday modern traffic. The automatic transmission worked surprisingly very well and the gears switching was not noticeable and accurate to the situation. The price, the owner is asking for the car is not that big (~450 Euro). After investing a few Euros it will be a good everyday runner or a rolling restoration project. Lata 90-dziesiąte. Posiadałem 2 autka. VW Golf II 1.6 diesel wolnossący, potem VW Jetta na bazie II, silnik 1.8 benzyna. Służyły dobrze te auta. Powszechny serwis, mechanicy je znali. Rozmaite części zamienne, drogie i tańsze, szerokie spektrum!
Ten był do kupienia za 1500 zł i żałuję że go nie kupiłem. Miał trochę wad ale fajnie jeździł.

How many speeds does the automatic have? does it run good?
It runs like a dream! I was so suprised! I think it was 3 gears automatic. This would align with my fealibg, the gears didnt switch wery often, but it was always acurate for City trafić very nice

What is 2 and 1 in the gearbox?
Not sure. Meaby it's limitation so it doesn't switch over that gear? Or manual selection of gear for example on icy Road you select 2.
How much did it cost including road fax, insurance etc.. just curious
The asking price was around 350 euro. It had a LPG instalation also. We don't pay road tax here. Insurence in Poland for this car will be around 100 euro/year.

Diese kwalitat ist eine Legende, davon ist leider noch viel übrig geblieben. Schade.

Golf 2 czyli moim zdaniem ostatni fajny Golf :)
A tam, za 5 lat fajny będzie golf 3. Po prostu jest jeszcze za wcześnie. Znajomy miał golfa 3 z ogromną skrzynka - telefonem komórkowym w bagażniku i słuchawka w kabinie. Klimat lat 90 super!
@@CarRambler1 No taki Golfik to fajny. No generacja 3 to jeszcze musi odcierpieć swoje. Czwórka to jeszcze ma daaaaleko do bycia ciekawym autem :)
Tutaj ten automat był ciekawy. I bardzo ładnie przełączał biegi. Ogólnie ktoś kupił ciekawe auto (bo już się sprzedal)
I had golf mk2 1.8 automatic but gearbox got problems and it didnt switch gears and i turned it to manual and the car runs even better than the automatic the manual version of mk2 is way better since u can switch between 5 gears and automatic cause alot of problems in car that u will fix more than the manual ill give it to the manual in the mk2
Automatic i such a rarity here in Poland. I was only making a test drive, so no idea how solid this was. I can imagine a manual gearbox gives more dynamic and better fuel economy.
Automatic golf 2 in Balkans is sacrilege.

Nie odpowiem Ci bo to nie moje auto. Nie wiem jak kosztuje utrzymanie, ile się może psuć, jak i gdzie gnije. Samo auto fajnie się prowadziło. W tych starszych autach najfajniejsza jest widoczność, która dzięki cienkim słupkom A, jest idealna do miasta. W mieście rzadko dachujemy więc...
I jak ogólne wrażenia z jazdy golfem 2 generacji? czyli prowadzenie, amortyzacja, wyciszenie i inne rzeczy wpływające na komfort jazdy. Czy nadałby się jeszcze w tych czasach do codziennej jazdy?
Zastanawiam się czy nie byłoby warto jeszcze kupić takiego samochodu puki jeszcze są przystępne ceny, a zawsze ta generacja mi się podobała.
Bardzo pozytywne zaskoczenie to skrzynia automat. Bardzo fajnie zmieniała biegi nie za późno nie za wcześnie, bez szarpnięć - super. Samo auto dałoby radę bez problemu we współczesnych warunkach. Ktoś kupił fajne auto bo wiem że został sprzedany dzień po publikacji nagrania.
