Winston-Salem Northern Beltway Update - Link to US 52 Nears Completion

- A drive on the Northern Beltway between Salem Parkway and US 52.
The drive begins on South Main Street in Kernersville where I enter Salem Parkway West/US 421 North. Upon reaching the beltway, I take NC 74 West heading northbound. I reach the end of the beltway and merge onto US 52 North. After a short drive on US 52 North, I make a u-turn and head back on US 52 South. Returning to the beltway interchange, I take the temporary link to NC 74 East and then exit at University Parkway. The recording ends after a short drive on University Parkway.
The link to the beltway between US 52 and University Parkway -- the original terminus -- opened in late Nov. 2023. The link is temporary until construction on the beltway mainline between University Parkway and US 52 is finished.
The beltway is currently signed as NC 74. A separate project will complete the beltway between Salem Parkway and Interstate 74 southeast of Winston-Salem. Once that is done, the beltway will be re-signed as Interstate 74.

Is this section of Us52 above NC-74 supposed to hook on to and be Interstate 74? Great video.
Yes, it is intended to connect directly to US 52. Eventually, US 52 between the beltway and Interstate 74 near Mt. Airy will be designated as I-74. In the meantime, It will be interesting to see how the NCDOT configures it for the short term.
There will be auxiliary route of I-74 and it is future I-274 as of west loop around Greensboro North Carolina, and some stretch of future I-274 is under construction.
