The Pallas is easily one of my favorite knives in every way. I own and have owned very expensive, well known knives. The fell in love with the Pallas the moment I took it out of the box.
You picked the right one! My Pallas is my favorite heavy duty folder! It melts into my hand which is important when you’re doing heavy cutting tasks. My only bitch is the lack of a deep carry clip.
My pallas is a S35VN wicked grips exclusive (1 of 15 I believe?). I got the knife 2nd hand along with a starburst American flag edition ZT 0095bw because the owner needed to get the money together for a Grismo he was getting made or was drawn for? I'm not sure how Grismo knives are sold but that is what he was getting money out together for. I like the pallas quite a bit and despite the light detent it seems almost impossible to fail flip it.
Love my mordax, can’t get enough of the fidget factor. And the sounds of the mordax are just so goood. Had my eyes on a Pallas for a while. Might have to pull the trigger at some point. Thanks for the video Bryan
Was looking at picking up a Pallas, ended up going with a Jake Hoback Sumo just because I have a weird reservation with aluminum handles. I know structurally they are perfectly fine. However if the coating gets scratched it's not as easy to just re-anodize like titanium. The Sumo isn't even comparable size-wise to the Pallas at all. It's quite small but just as fidgety, which I think is why most people buy buttonlocks. The Sumo is also twice the price lol.
Boy, I love the Mordax. Probably makes my top 10, definitely my top 20. But now I am pretty curious about the Spartan Blades. A quick search seemed to indicate that there are none in the primary market. Wonder what I will think about it.
I hate FF, but I have to admit I'm biased. They are the only operation to sell me a $500+ dollar knife that failed so magnificently that it injured me multiple times. Sent it back TWICE, and the framelock still slipped and cut me again. To be fair, they eventually refunded me after having to badger them and send the knife back to them a THIRD time, but I'm still out like $45 and wasted six months of my life on that folder. At least they let competent companies like WE and Protech build their designs now.
I have a midtech FF Archbishop i got in 2016 that has had a lot of problems too, $500 that could’ve been better spent elsewhere and also the primary reason I don’t bother with customs and midtechs anymore. Budget and high end production is all I need now, and it’s saved me so much money!
Have to agree...got a mordax after wanting one for a while but always in the end deciding it was just too expensive during a drop black friday sale last year and was stoked...until i got it in hand. It came dull as a butter knife, with a noticibly uneven grind and significant blade play. Sharpened it myself and was able to finally stop the blade play from returning with the help of some red locktite but had to chose between slight blade play or drop shut action. Really like the malibu so trying to decide weather to blame FF or Protech...either way not pleased for a knife at this price point.
Thanks for doing this! I've been on the fence for too long between these two. I'm surprised you didn't compare the 451 freeman too lol. Ugggghhh I'm a little too close to pulling the trigger on the Pallas now. Or should I get the Mordax lol. I still can't decide haha. Although with the size of my mitts the 4.6 handles may be a smidge too small. But oh lord am I a sucker for flippers.
That Pallas is such a sweet looking blade! I definitely want to know your thoughts on S45VN once you get that small Harsey and do some side-by-side comparison Side note: does Slicey need some fiber in his diet? Haven't had a morning dump in a little while, haha. Love the content, brother (and yes, you were supposed to read that as Hulk Hogan)
As soon as I hear anything is from drop I'm out. I waited months for a pair of headphones I pre-ordered. I contacted them a few weeks after the headphones were released. After not receiving any emails from them. They informed me they didn't have as much stock as they thought they were going to so they canceled my order. They told me they didn't know if or when they would have more. Sorry about your luck have a nice day.
Got one of each. I would gladly let my Malibu go for a Spartan exactly like the one in the video. The Malibu is great and have nothing bad to say about it but that Spartan fits my oversized hands like a dream!
I himself have nothing against Spartan, I just can't stand their font/branding choices. Their "U.S.A." especially, reminds me of the same font I have seen on gas station knives. It's like keymid slots.... Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Love Spartan Blades

I love the Pallas. The Harsey too. After getting them I decided to get rid of a lot of my lesser knives.
I love the Pallas, Malibu and Mordax. I have them all. I flipped my Pallas through the whole video and needed wrist action twice.
The Pallas looks like it has that beefy ZT build quality to it- similar to my 0393
Have the Mordax in blue and just pre-ordered the Pallas from knife center. Best of both worlds! Thanks for another great review!
I really love the mordax such a nice sleek design.
I think it was the right choice. Both are great but I chose the Pallas to be the button lock in my collection as well. Another great video Slicey.

John at BGMknives is the one who does the regrinds, but I think he’s stopped doing regrinds since. He put a beautiful hollow grind on my Mordax

I love the look of the Pallas. My problem - real first world - is my AD20 full ti, never leaves my pocket. No pocket room for a new life.
My AD20 has that effect on me as well.
I would have put my money on the Mordax as your winner before watching the video :) But I have to agree on the Pallas, it's awesome
Great battle Darth S. Spartan blades 24/7.😊👍
If the blade of the Pallas wasn't so rounded off, I'd like it a lot more. Has that cheap $22 Kershaw look
Would love to get my hands on a Pallas! Both are GREAT! Need me a good heavy Duty! Love my Protechs But would like to try S45
I absolutely love my Pallas
Good Battle. I have the Mordax, but never carry it. I think I will sell mine too.
I wanna see a cold steel style lock test on these button locks. I'm still a skeptic
Nice. Thanks for the video!
Pallas still worth it?
like the color of the protech, great knife

Keep an eye out. Spartan puts them up a few at a time when they make them on their site.

I love my Pallas and malibu great comparison video I think I'm gona pass on the mordax I already got the best 2 of the 3 in my opinion

I would have if I still had my Freeman. I sold it. Which kinda answers the question.
@@SliceyDicey yes it does lol. What made you get rid of it?
Trevor Knitter Just didn’t carry it and also very thick behind the edge.
I really wanted a Mordax until I found out it's .030 behind the edge. WTH?!?

Did you give the aesthetics to the Ferrum/drop/pro tech because the knife is handsome? Or because the designers are? Be honest.
Haha. In this case... the knife.

Nice... Peace, Stiletto :-)
New sub
Just make a new back-bevel, it will be fine.
How are you getting your Spartan’s? I would sell a kidney to get the one you have in the video. Not mine necessarily but someone’s. :-)
I'd sell a kidney for a malibu lol. I had to "settle" for a mordax after acknowledging the fact I would never be able to get my hands on a malibu.
Got one of each. I would gladly let my Malibu go for a Spartan exactly like the one in the video. The Malibu is great and have nothing bad to say about it but that Spartan fits my oversized hands like a dream!
Just keep an eye out on the Spartan site. They pop up a lot.
Protech is good, but there quality not even close to a spartan blades . Spartan blades are best $can buy
