I think the new purchases may do better because of natural curiosity. I'm the same about hu, buy, buy. I dont even wear makup much anymore now that im working from home. I really enjoy watching people use ip and finish their products!

Hey Tina 😊 Loved hanging out with you this morning! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 For not obsessing over views and subs. I feel that it takes away from the fun of having a channel. Hobbies are supposed to make you happy, not stressed. You are an awesome plant mom. I want to be but am not. Maybe when we buy our next and final home, we will have amazing plant spaces. Yay for cataloging your palettes!

Thank YOU for helping me to find my center again and realize part of what was stealing my joy. Comparison, focusing on the wrong goals, losing sight of why I started this in the first place. I'm using Vlogmas to get back to the fun.

Great to see you Tina! First I love what you did with the colorpop palettes. Second I can't wait to see your inventory and declutter videos. I like hearing that you're going to press into your makeup collection and use it up, and I like the idea of the no buy. Chic geek did a series on that and what she's learned, and it's been fascinating. When it comes to someone who really treasures their makeup collection, I really enjoy Sarah Rose beauty content. When I think about what you have to offer, I think mature oily skin is a niche but important to us. And your knowledge and your experience of drugstore cosmetics is valuable. You can do reviews of the products already in your own inventory. Those of us who watch make up UA-camrs are there for fun, relaxation, escape, and the sheer enjoyment of beauty. And makeup reviews help us with saving money and not wasting it. I don't generally watch 20-year-olds because their experience with makeup is so different than mine now. For instance, I remember not needing a lip liner, and now I have to have one and I want 1 that dries down and stays all day. You would know which ones those are. It's a blessing to us that you have such a huge inventory because you can make the best recommendations. I don't need to know about what's new on the market. I just want to know what works best. Also I've really gotten into project panning, and I've realized that I keep some of my eyeshadow palettes just for 1 or 2 special shades. Instead I'm repressing them into other palettes. I'm even making my own quads and that way I can reduce the size of my collection but not the actual shades that I love. It's been really fun.

Thank you for such a thoughtful comment! I love that you are making your own quads. For so long, I was against changing my palettes. If I was reviewing them and sharing them, they had to look like what they look like new. But bah on that. I want my collection to work for me. And showing how I make that happen is every bit as valuable as reviewing new products.
The palettes may be the last that get a video up as they are definitely the most work. I'll be able to do the other categories much more quickly and work on the palettes in the in betweens.

@TinaHBeautifulJourney You're welcome. I'm so happy for you that you'll be changing things up and making this channel work for you. I'm having a blast reworking my palettes. Of course the ones that I think are perfect and beautiful already, I'm keeping everything original. But I had so many where I only was using 2 or 3 shades or maybe even just one. I felt like the packaging was piling up and I couldn't even display everything properly. I wasn't getting good use out of my collection. I bought a bunch of the elf bite sized quad packaging from shop miss A in the color story Fuzzy blanket for a dollar each because it has the perfect brow bone/transition shade. So I keep that shade and then I choose a crease color, and 2 lid shimmers to repress into them. It's so fun making my own color stories that work for my unique skin tone. Then I discard the old packaging and that's fun too LOL It's bringing me so much joy to be able to glance at my quads and match them to my outfits very easily.

I'm glad. I think it's important to share even little things we might be struggling with, because very likely, there is someone out there struggling with the same thing. And sometimes, it just helps to know it's not just you. That said, I'm sorry you struggle as well.

Hey Tina! 👋 Girl, you're so talented that you could pick one of your palettes, and make 7 different looks for seven days. A GRWM each day or a combo of those and just snapshots of your looks on the other days. Shelby and I loved your walks and sit down talks with that sweet dog and Leonard. Whatever you do, I guarantee that I'll be watching, I'll be inspired, and I'll learn something. I always keep Immodium in that middle zipper pocket, too. It can definitely be a life saver. I'm the same way, Tina, out of sight....out of mind. I had a lot of fun. Thanks for hanging out and I'll see you soon 🌈 🌻 🤗😘🥰

I'm in the same situation, I have a book full of great ideas to film but I just don't wanna even though I don't want to give up on my channel either but ya, I am in a funk or something - I am sick of buying makeup too. I think I may do a no buy next year, in clumps of like 3 months or so - still deciding about it though bc you're right, the views come from new makeup

It's hard to keep going but I'm going to try to just make it fun and if the viewership isn't there, I'll figure it out. I believe there is an audience out there who feels the same way we do. And if we put the videos out there, people will find them and eventually UA-cam will serve them up more.

Hello, Tina!👋😇 Just catching-up on some UA-cam viewing while drinking my morning coffee today, & I’m glad to be binge-watching your Vlogmas! 🎄 When I do watch UA-cam, I’ve been enjoying a variety of content/all kinds lately, so I certainly don’t plan on going anywhere! When all is said & done, I find that I’m drawn to a creator’s personality more than anything, so another reason I enjoy watching your channel. 😊 So glad you & your family had a lovely Thanksgiving! ❤ We took the simple route this year of meeting together with family for a delicious meal at Cracker Barrel, & then my parents came for a wee visit to meet our newly adopted dog, so it was a good day spent with family! 😉💕🐶💕

What a satisfying day. I really envy your new oven; mine is almost as old as me and broke three years back, so I miss baking, although I have developed some quick bread & cake recipes for the microwave.

My old oven is 20 plus years old. One burner will randomly turn itself to high. And to get any temp inthe oven, you have to set it 75 degrees higher. But have to pay attention, because at some point, it WILL achieve that higher temp. Lol. I used the convection feature the other night and it shaved 20 minutes off the time it usually takes to cook chicken!

Hi Tina! It was fun hanging out with you!
I can relate to wanting to do videos that excite you. It really is so easy to get caught up in the “hamster wheel” of UA-cam worrying about views, watch hours etc. but I think we can’t lose the joy of why we started doing this in the first place.
I thought it was such a good idea “cannabalising” your eyeshadow palettes to make them work for you. Was it hard getting them out?
Thanks for hanging out with ME this morning as I was having my coffee. Hope you have a great day my friend ❤

    • @TinaHBeautifulJourney

These were pretty easy to get out. They are metal and the palettes are magnetic. I have a telescoping magnet tool--it's generally a mechanic's tool--and it just lifts them right out.
Thanks for being here and having coffee with me. Have a great day!

Hi Tina! So many things to say, but I did want to share with you that in April, 2 1/2 years after starting this channel and 20 months after getting monetized, I was finally getting paid the minimum every 2 months. Then my daughter had her stroke and it all came to a standstill. So while money isn't our reason for doing this (mine was the people), I do think it can factor into losing momentum. After a while I think you subconsciously want some kind of return on your time investment. At least, that was the case with me.
Things started picking up when I came back and started posting regularly again in September. I think UA-cam changed the way the algorithm works in favor of smaller channels (and at cost to larger ones, unfortunately). So my content was getting out there more and I was finally making the minimum monthly. Of course, that's come to a stop now that I have discontinued recording due to my CLL diagnosis. But it was on an upward trend. I'm thinking this could start happening for you, as well.

    • @TinaHBeautifulJourney
      @TinaHBeautifulJourney  25 днів тому +2

Thank you for that explanation. And yes, at some point, you do want to at least cover the costs you are putting into it (and there ARE costs--more for some depending on niche). I'm glad to hear you got to a point of getting paid monthly, and that you were able to return to that after needing time away. I am praying for your health journey.
