This is actually amazing I just started playing the banjo and was looking for tutorials when I found your channel and started watching your videos. This is by far my favorite not only because of the song but also because I have been listening to Johnny cash for ever. The only thing I would change whatsoever is the speed you go a little faster than the original but other than that it is perfect.
In my opinion it's the best version of this song. Thank you so much for this 3 minutes. You make my day better!(and sorry for my English, because I'm russian)
Travis my good man i have tried relentlessly to wrap my head around this one even slowing the video down as low as it goes but i am not getting that reapeating sound u are pulling off i tried practicing what you taught in your chop video were you broke down how u pull off some of the chop sounds. But it sounds like something different is happenning in the "ba,dun-dunt, chop." That repeats alot. I know my explanation is horrible but it repeats alot🤦 . Is there anyway you could break this song down slow showing how you are using the chop with the chords to but it all together❤ it almost sounds like you strike 2 melody notes then chop or strike a note and hit the 5th string as you pull away then chop. I am gunna go braindead trying to wrap.my noggin around how u do it😂. And when u slow the video down super slow it messes with how the sound lines up so that don't help, but at leaste u know i tried like hell to learn it on my own, but think i am stuck without a bit of your help. So if u cam break Man comes around down slowly would be SUPER..SUUUPER APPRECIATED🙂🙂like at 1:54 for example were it looks more like knocking then the other chop strum u taught us, its like 2 knocks and a chop, but with black magic mixed in😉1:13 is another example right when u say some are born some are dyin
Thanks Travis, greatly appreciated brother. How in the name of god are you getting that awsome sound you do with your strum pattern??. I get it is like a cash version of a bumditty but i cant see if you are knocking on a few strings or getting the sound when your hand comes up before the hard last strum?? sounds sooo great but i can not see how in the heck you do it like here : 1:00 i looked as hard as i could to see what strings vibrated but still can not tell Any tip would mean alot brother (that 123 strum 123 strum) 😃 it has almost a hammer on sound but i dont see your frett fingers move😃
@@TravisBoudreau Thank you so much😃. Im gunna give her hell. Mine sounded more like i was choppin a possum then a banjo😂. Also some beautiful artwork! Greatfull that ya took the time to share all this with us!
