When she gave this talk, Tashmia was head of YES, a South African youth employment service creating 1-year work opportunities for disadvantaged youth. In early 2017 when the South African economy was facing a crisis, business, labour, and government came together to find solutions. The result was a series of special-purpose vehicles and experiments to drive determined strategies in identified areas. One of the big problems was youth employment. They created YES to solve for that. At the time of the talk, and 11 months after launching, YES had generated an incredible 29 104 jobs and counting.
