I grew up hearing my dad listening to King Sunny Ade's music, and it was one of the prevailing sounds in Nigeria that I can remember hearing as a child in the 80s and early 90s, but this week, for the first time, I myself am just taking the time to listen to his music, and I have to admit that King Sunny Ade is truly a musical genius and a legend. He is really a gift from God to make people's hearts merry in the world. May God continue to uphold him with grace and mercy and keep him around longer. Please, I want to say to our young musicians that as they are creating their own unique sounds, lyrics, and visuals, to also continue to infuse our legends' musical talents and to commemorate the musical history of our people. God bless you all.
Saw The King and crew in So.Cal a few times and it was literally THE most fun I've ever had at shows and I've been to many.If you ever get a chance to go to a live King Sunny show,GO,you will not regret it.
The old back up team of Matthew Olojede, Femi Owomoleya, Abiodun Fatoke etc would wipe the floor with these amateurs any time, any day. KSA made terrible and greedy error of judgment getting rid of those Titans to replace them with these amateurs.
Definitely. The Talking Heads and Brian Eno were greatly influence by King Sunny Ade and Fela Kuti during the production of Remain in Light -- in my opinion, and many others, the band's best album.
