Vampires & Thieves in Slab City!!

My friend Ross says he knows an expert propane refrigerator guy who can get my fridge working on propane. We get up early to go over to his camp and drag Vampire Wayne out of his coffin to come over and take a look at my fridge. Then we find out someone stole our neighbors' solar panel.
After a busy morning, I go looking for some cool graffiti I saw a picture of from inside of a huge tank. Then I make a stop at the pet cemetery on my way home.

Taylor's Coop I would have used the word "intense." Same idea. Either way, I had to stop watching at about minute three even though I liked Bex very much. The music was just too crushing.

That mural and graffiti art is fantastic. The desolate background really makes it stand out.
I think the mural at 10:23 is all the same woman. It tells some kind of tale. And the paint running down the sand could be tears.
This is hard to comprehend. Its a strange atmosphere.

Most people with an RV fridge know it runs on the vehicle when traveling, shore power when set up a a proper campsite or or propane when electric is not available

Yes fumes are more flammable than the liquid and will blow much faster.

Like the video and music. I interestingly the original Vampire Vlad the Impaler invited all the thieves in town too a free dinner and drink. They all showed up and where fed and drunk only to have the door locked on the hall. It was then set on fire.
America has some of the most beautiful and majestic places in the world. This is not one of them.
They people there are the issue not the surroundings unfortunately.

Those instructions are in the manual. My fridge just tells you it has a problem then you run gas out of the stove once the stove lights the gas is in the lines. Most of these refrigerators will ignite electrically

There is a little shrine to McCandless at Salvation Mountain.
Bex, I am so glad you have your fridge working, I am sure it makes a big difference. Wow, navigating that tank perimeter was impressive! It looks like an interesting place, but way too much strewn garbage, you would think people would take better care of that place! Stay safe! ♥

Very cool indeed! I have wanted to visit the Slabs since I first hard of the place, and yet when I was but a hundred miles away last winter, I just never made the drive! At least I can see them through your camera, probably much better then if I had visited them in person. I would never have walked that wall, no place for my cane, and my balance is terrible, I would have surely fallen in and become trapped. You are not the first to report thieves out there, I recall Nomadic Fanatic had some problems with that, as well as having his tires slashed because he crossed the wrong slabber.
It seems like Slab City is the last of the wild west. Be kind to everyone or there may be consequences. ;-)
Sort of looks like that. There is a place in, I believe New Mexico that is sort of like the slabs on steroids, but I forget the name of it now. I did some study on it a few years back and it did look rather exciting as well. Seems America is always open to outlaws who find a little place in the wilds where nobody bothers them, and they can live in peace and prosper without harming the outsiders.

OK, you've convinced me not to go to slab city. I can't stand thieves either. It appears Slab City is loaded with them.
thieves and meth heads unfortunately, especially this time of year everyone that can afford to leave does and that leaves all the bad or poor people
True but from what I've seen it is a real problem in slab city. High concentration of thieves and methheads. Lots of places to go. I will try to visit Salavation Mountain but no need to overnight in Slab City.
Yes there are thiefs everywhere. But at least we have police protection. You don't at slab city.

I find it interesting that folks are reluctant to say anything negative like about the music...if it was my video, I'd take it into consideration for future choices. Dont we want her videos to be successful? Everything else was good, just music rubbed a good number the wrong way. Its as if the people needed to say they liked it to defend her...shes a cool chick, and i think she can handle it just fine without everyone invalidating those of us who hated it...i really hated it. It effected me even after i turned it off. Sounded like torture!
Sure, this music isn't something I would seek out to listen to on my own, but it fits the the content perfectly. I don't mind it at all.
Vampire Wayne didn't inform you your trailer has to be level for it to get cold when it's propane make sure your trailer is level when using your propane the refrigerator will not get cold or just burn your propane up if your refrigerator is not level so make sure the refrigerator itself is level by putting a glass of water in there and leveling your trailer by the glass of water inside your refrigerator

Nice job. better then all other slab city videos who just have been interviewing residents, and some touring. But you showed more of the art and the big landscapes which was cool. How long was your visit?I wish I knew how to make videos and add music and edit etc. Someone helped me make one but it was not easy. Why is it called slab city. How many square miles is it? How many residents? Can anyone just drive their RV there and park and stay endlessly for free. I notices a generator at another video on slab city. I assume that is popular. there's a time and a place for music,during the parts where people are talking is not if at least if there's going to be music it should be at a lower level not the same level as the person who is talking,but that's just opinion i could be wrong,on a side note this is the first time hearing about vampire wayne he is quite unique.after watching the whole video the music wasn't so loud as it was at the start :-) also it was nice to see no one messed with the tank that had the female images,at least there was some respect for that

Actually your lines were purged not bled. Propane lines rarely are plugged, what gets plugged is the pilot orifice spiders love to spin a home for babies in the pilot orifice, it reminds them of home sweet home.
I stayed at the slabs many years ago. I marked every article prone to get stolen with big bright obvious markings. Paint all electrical cords, scratch or engrave metal items with drivers license number. Leave nothing unattended.

The was a VX van, someone at night stole the tires, broke in and stole his stereo. The intern taking the stole report contacted me on the radio. When I got there, he told me there was a trail of blood from the broken window. We followed it for 2 blocks where it lead into the backyard of a house. I peeked around the wooden fence and saw the stack of tires and a kid inspecting them. I yelled at the kid to come forward and explained I was following a trail of blood. I examined his hands and they were cut. I asked him for the stereo and he went inside the home and returned with the stereo. I arrested him after that.

Hobo Hacker. Yes. In the unfortunate case of an accident, the propane line could be broken. If the valve is open the accident scene will be flushed with propane. Kaboom.
