I remember you mention your days living in Las Vegas in various livestreams and how it wasn’t easy since you didn’t have much money, but that experience did help you out a lot in your life in terms of work ethic and discipline. Great to hear more of that in a video David, hope you’re doing well, have a great rest of the year and take care!
I lived in Vegas from 2014 to 2018, and I left because I was broke and working at a political call center. I loved the music aspect though. I met Greg Howe twice, I met Marty Friedman during his 2015 tour, I met Riot V the power metal band. So my work life sucked ass, but the music side was awesome \m/. I also saw Blind Guardian, Grave Digger, and all sorts of other bands out there.
I live in Vegas and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There is obviously a difference but in both places you need to actually seek out trouble or wild times or whatever. I get in a lot more trouble in Milwaukee cause it’s where I grew up and there is still 4 bars on every single block and I’ve been to most of them
You'd be surprised what women will put up with if they see you as a "hot" guy. The best women I ever got with were the ones who weren't with me for money. When you're broke and women know it, it's authentic... But there is a shot clock especially if you're with a woman who's got many options as well.
Have only been there twice, enjoyed it enough, once on a business trip and another time for a bachelor party. I do want to go back to see the new Sphere building, but it's not enough of a draw to make a trip just for that, probably wait till a band I like plays there. Have always needed an excuse to visit there, so not sure if I could stand living there.
This was the funniest shit I've heard for ages. The Wintersun tshirt is gold. Anyway, John was my first inspiration for playing drums. It never got me anywhere, but my memories from the rehearsal room are one are my fondest. We played for 8 years. Our lead guitarist and writer, we met him in World of Warcraft, he was our guild master. He plays french horn in Germany now... and he does some metal projects too. I will try this gym thing now, I guess... because girls couldn't care less about me. Anyway, thanks for sharing, it was like sitting in a pub 10 years ago
Always been to Las Vegas with my fam and it's a great place but always an entire mixture of things, good and bad. Mostly good but too stimulating for me now that I'm getting older :P For my back (you mentioned the lad at the gym) I take anacin or Doan's, both seem to work as well for me without taking 600 mg of Alieve. Lol! Glad you enjoyed Las Vegas 👍
Just pre-Covid I was thinking of moving out to Vegas. I do have some relatives that moved out there a couple decades ago, mainly because it was so cheap to live there. Moving from Illinois your property taxes dropped to a third of what you were paying for a comparable house. Another reason was that you didn't have to mow the lawn in the summer (rockscaping) or shovel snow in the winter. And if you didn't mind the dry heat working inside all the time with AC, you probably wouldn't even notice. Unfortunately housing prices skyrocketed, so the financial incentives for moving out there have been dashed somewhat. You got some cool personal stories. Probably definitely help with your writing.
I always forget that you’re so tall because we’re just looking at you’re torso & head haha, I’m just 5’8 but luckily most guys here are 5’8 - 5’10, if you’re over 6’0 then you’re very tall.
Interesting video dude. I only visited once for a conference around 2012. We stayed in The Mirage and my room had bed bugs, and since it was the last standard room they had to upgrade me to a suite, which I got at the regular rate. Win. I did make it over to the Spearmint Rhino with an Air Force buddy who was stationed at Nellis. Still say it had the highest density of good looking girls of any club I've ever set foot in. One of them offered to sleep with us for $500, which we did not take her up on.
Surprised to hear that you're 6'2. It's kind of an odd thing, but after watching you for so long I figured you were a short/average guy. I think it's because you remind me of 90s Kevin Smith a bit so I imagined you'd have the same stature haha.

I never in my life would have guessed that you knew Dan Bilzerian. You've been keeping that one close to the chest for a long time.
Actually, he’s mentioned it on a couple of streams before, so it would be easy to miss!
Also John Dolmayan. You meet some interesting people, sometimes.
please, do more storytimes! you've led a very interesting life, Professor Stewart!
Young David Stewart: "I'm going to be a gig musician."
2008 Economy: "You have elected the way of pain."
I've always loved Vegas for the last 30 years and I have yet to gamble or drink there. In the 90's the place felt like a fever dream.

It was really cheap in the early 10s, but Vegas got hit pretty hard by the housing crash and so probably grew a lot in the second bubble.
We need a Zul cover of "Viva Las Vegas," and we need it badly.

Nothing helps more with weight loss than being poor 😅😂

It’s amazing that people would raise their kids there given that in the US it’s normal to just move between states.
