I don't know what was better, the knife or the editing of this video. I think the editing is an example for all youtubers.
Thank you! :) I'm glad you like the style! Ever watched "Cactus Workshop" and "Giaco Whatever" here on UA-cam? Their editing work is really inspiring to me :)
There's no dead time or slow time. It's sped up a little so you can quickly get the idea of how it's done.
I'm a 20year old house wife and I love these videos, I just can't believe how much you can do with metal and the skills you need to do it to such a great standard. Wonderful knife. Would be lovely to win!:)
Thank you a lot :)
That jig you use for grinding your bevel is flippin inspired! well done sir.
Thank you my friend :) :)
That's a cool little design!
Thank you! :)
The phrase work smarter comes to mind watching this. Great job with the knife. It's inspiring. 👍
That blade is really beautiful. One of your best, in my opinion.
I've been a lurker but, count me in ~! ♥
Thank you!! :) :)
Beautiful knife, but I love the innovation in your bespoke bevelling tool! Great video, thanks.
Thank you! :) I made it as a prototype but it worked so well I don't know when I'm going to make a final version xD
Your DIY blade angle grinding jig is great, Subscribed
Thanks! Much appreciated :)
Fai sembrare facile ogni cosa che fai. Questo significa se sei davvero bravissimo

Классный шпатель для эпоксидки)
Beautiful as always!
Thank you :)
perfect Job !! my friend , what angle did you use to cut the bevels on suchs a thin blade , I belive a thin and flexible knife is more useful , keep the good work
Another great job!
Great idea the giveaway and the knife looks awesome!!
Thank you :)
Muy buen vídeo, un saludo desde Albacete, España.
Gracias! :)
Nice knife! Thanks for sharing
Awesome knife! you should build a heat treating oven.

Superb knife & vid. Do you have a template for that? i would love to have a go.
Awesome knfe, nice work!
Amazing Neck Knife, I have one similar with a ebony handle and custom etching, but very good skills you have!
Thanks mate! :)
just found your cannel and its great!! deserve way more subscribers mate. my notifications on:)
Thank you man! :) Much appreciated :)
Man that was quick. I really need to get me some 2mm steel. working with 6mm is a pain
Oh yeah buddy! It's so cool to see your work taking shape so fast :)
Was that an acid etch you dropped the blade into? If you don't mind, what was the dilution and acid?
nice knife!!! Cool video and giveaway! I want in
Thanks! :)
You man got some skills. I've always been fascinated by crafting stuff like that and make my own collection but i can't afford buying all those machines and only using them once in a while.
Are drill and dremel enough to make the finish ( polishing the blade and making the handle ) ?
Thanks man! I would say angle grinder and drill. Dremel can work for something small like this but it would be damn slow and also very expensive in terms of bits.. Look for a 20bucks angle grinder if you don't have one :)
I wish I had that kind of skill
You can learn if you like :) It just takes time :)
Great job! I want in
Thanks man!
awesome build
did you etched with ferric chloride?
Thanks! Yep exactly! :)
Very nice design!
Thanks! :)
Neck knives sold out guys :) Thank you!
Black Beard Projects is it razor sharp?

I love your vids man! You're doing great and deserve recognition! Keep the content flowing.
Thank you a lot Matthew! :)
Che bello quel manico, mi piacciono tanto i coltelli cosi! Bravo! Hai messo la lama in un acido o qualcosa per darle quel aspetto?

Black Beard Projects I want to win their are nice knife

Haha thanks Cody :)
and quality as always!
Thank you again my friend :)
Nice work.. What's the grit on the sander
Thanks! I'm not sure I don't remember, must be from 40 or 60 grit up to 400 on the grinder :)
They knife looks like a perfect size and weight. What kind of steel did you make this out of?
Thanks man! :) This is 1070 high carbon steel, also known as c70.
Brilliant job! Well done! Nice video too, with a few great tips.
A question: in the video you use a dremel, would you suggest me as a beginner on a budget (!) to go for that as my first 'power tool? ;-) I understand it is quite versatile, but I'm wondering if a good one can resist the tough job of cutting steel.
Is it a good choice in lieu of say a angle grinder, in order to save little money and add to precision?
Thanks man! I would totally go for an angle grinder as a first tool for knifemaking, the dremel is handy but you have a really hard time profiling a blade with that... Also consider that the part I cutted with the dremel tool was just a vouple of cm long and the thickness of that steel is just 2mm :) moreover you can work most of the bevel with an angle grinder and it takes lot of material away quickly! A dremel is precise but can't do that at all.
Thank you BBP, and angle grinder will be! Subscribed.
Thank you brother!!! Have fun making :)
does it cut for real ? or it s just for deco ?
@1:43 was the wood angled a little ? Why didn't the sanding belt made a plat surface ?
Yep! It's slightly angled, the two bolts stick out from the bottom of the piece so that you can grind a bevel keeping a costant angle :) I found that working freehand on such thin stock is really hard!
Ooh nice and smart
minute 2:28 is that ferric chloride? and what the purpose for that ? because I was just learning
Yep it is! :) I use it to etch the blade, it leaves a matt dark finish that I like!
awesome!
красота какааааая)))
I need translation xD
Do they have kits for beginners to learn how to do this🤯
Next week, I'll sure as hell try and enter for this.
.3.
Sorry brother this endended some time ago :)
What rpm is your dremmel tool? It kicks ass
I have no idea to be honest :') It was the cheapest I could find at the time. I guess since the metal is so think it looks even faster!
In min 3:44 what was that liquid please ? And why do you use it for ?
Thanks a lot.
It's ferric chloride. I use it the etch the metal. it gives a dark patina and it should help with rust protection a tiny bit :)
That's a beautiful knife man! Loved that etching you did and the purpleheart handle. Really great job.
Thank you a lot my friend :)
I want in! cool knife
Thanks! :)
Great work. Can you give us a link to the liquid you used for the satin finish? Thanks
Thanks buddy!! :) The liquid is plain ferric chloride, I bought that locally but I'm pretty sure you can find online too :)
I have to ask, do you take custom orders for knives? 😦
If so, consider me interested.
hope to be a winner in love watching you create knives and have been a subscriber for awhile now. can't say I've ever won anything before
Good luck man! :) I feel you, never won a giveaway either xD
Black Beard Projects we should create a club. "The never won anything social club"
What was the liquid (not the oil for the heat treat) you put the knife in to give it the gray colour?
Thanks
It's ferric chloride :)
What did you drop it in to give it the finish?
+Rusty Shacolfurd Ferric chloride :)
Can I use a metal ruler as a substitute for the metal piece?
Well... I don't think most rulers are made of tool steel :) It won't hold the edge much
so where can i buy steel ?
Look online for 'high carbon steel' like 1095 or 1070 :) These kind of steel are easy to heat treat
Looking back at this comment, I ended up buying tool steel and making this knife ! I went with 1095 carbon steel, I did it and it turned out flawless, I also tried using a metal ruler to make a home-made shank! I bring it to college as a paper cutter since I can't bring the one made with tool steel, and it holds an edge.
What liquid did you use at 3:50 to get that nice finish? Love the vids mate, keep 'em coming!
Thank you!! :) It's ferric chloride :)
Thanks!
How long did this take to make?
Amigo posta um video de como você fez o gabarito para a afiação, valeu..
It's on my "to do" list!
3:45 what did you put the knife in?And how long did ypu leave it in there?
It's ferric chloride! About 10 min :)
Black Beard Projects grazie
Ma dove si compra? Nei supermercati?
hey man...I really liked your idea for the bevel jig. any tip on how to build it myself? :)
Hi! :) Thanks man! I made this one as a prototype and it worked out really well. It's just a piece of wood with two bolts on the back, the blade is secured with screw and there is a piece of hardened steel to make the plunge line straight :) I might build a steel one soon, wood tend to burn and deform with heat and water xD
Black Beard Projects that's cool, do you know the angle or you adjusted it with the bolts and washers underneath?
very cool ideas and music
You can calculate the angle but for this I just went for trial and error :) the angle is adjusted by turning the two bolts up or down (there is a nut wedged in the bottom of the jig) This can be improved in many ways anyway, I'm projecting a new one already xD
Black Beard Projects I'm sure there's room for improvement, knowing where to start from its nice :) thanks a lot for your help mate 👍 keep it up with the good work!
Thank you my friend :) Have fun making!
What thickens and type of steel do you use?
2mm thick 1070 steel. Check the video description :)
muito bom.
I really hope I win, that knife looks amazing!
Thank you buddy :) Good luck :)
Holy shit, this knife looks great! Had the notification bell on since I subscribed!
Haha thank you brother!! :) Appreciated!
What kind of cordage did you use in the thumbnail ? I'm tired of Paracord
I just saw this video, looks perfect for me :D Good job bro! :)
Thank you my friend :) :)

Thanks! I'll pay it :)
Great work bro 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks buddy :)
Cool little knife. Do you have a website with stuff for sale?
Thanks! Not yet unfortunately, I'm planning on making one but time is always a problem xD
Etsy is pretty easy to set up. I've got and sold some pipes and vintage stuff there.
Cool little blade! Yes, PLEASE get a new saw blade :)! Someone below said the handle was purple heart. It liooked to light for that. Pink Ivory maybe or is it a dyed wood? FYI, I received your stickers today. Thank you so much for trading with me!
Hi Tom! :) It's not dyed, and might be pink Ivory as you said! :) I bought a bunch of knife scales some month ago and not all of them were labeled :( I got your stickers too, thank you my friend!
It looks like bloodwood.
Which oil do. you Use for hardning
Vegetables oil :)
Grande!
:) :)
Another nice one
Thank you man :)
Nice knife !
What is the liquid in wich you put the blade at the end ? And what is the purpose ?
It's ferric chloride, it etches the blade. Makes a matte surface finish and should help prevent rust if oiled well after the etch :)
ok nice ! Thank you very much !
By the way, it is an amzing job youre making on this channel !
omg i want that knife
Good luck on the giveaway :')
Black Beard Projects does it come with a sheath
