Garden Island is also known as "snake Island." Fun Fact: There is every type of snake you can find in Michigan on that Island. Therefore, it's used as study by CMU. Also, the Indian graveyard is still in use. Very surreal. I participated in a funeral there, an old Ottawa that was born on the island and served in the military, so when he died we buried him there and gave him military honours. That place is still considered active, and sacred to many here on Beaver.
It was an interesting hike for sure. Those 2 water snakes were shading under the dinghy. The one I stepped on was pissed and would not leave. Just stared at us. So for the funeral did someone go clear the way first? I was surprised at how hard it was to find the trail and surrounding area was over grown.

That seems like an appropriate amount of snakes!
