This one is older than Lindsay lohans parent trap. Both are really good.
Yeah, I like both movies also I was/am sad to hear about Kirstie Alley R.I.P. You are loved and will be missed.
growing up being obsessed with mary-kate and ash as a child, the main way you can tell the difference is ashley has more round/big eyes and mary-kate's is more almond shaped/squinty
also mary-kate usually plays the more causal/down to earth characters where ash plays the more prim and proper which i think is more so due to their body language so that's a way to usually tell them apart too
I'm an identical twin and we are exact opposites of each other. We do have what some people would consider "twin telepathy" but it isn't reading minds... just reading each other.
I’m a fraternal twin and me my sister sometimes have that same wavelength going on. We just look at each other and we know what the other one is going to say or about to say.
I have this with my 3yrs younger sister. You can’t put us together in charades. Everyone will lose.
Marykate and Ashley did a whole series of straight to video movies prior to this. They had their own production company and fashion line. Aside from fullhouse their first was titled Marykate and Ashley Our first Video and included a ton of adorable songs.
Yes, please do look who's talking with Kirstey Alley!!!
I would love if he did all three!!
Same here. Look who's talking, was part of my childhood. You won't be disappointed!!!!
All three of them ❤️
This one came before the Lohan Parent trap, but after the original Parent Trap. From memory, I believe they're all losely based on the classic 'Prince and the Pauper' tale.
They are also inspired by a German book Lisa and Lottie (Das doppelte Lottchen) from 1949, a book about twins that end up meeting at a summer camp like girls in both Parent Trap movies do. But they definetely must have all taken the inspiration from the Prince and the Pauper tale too.
I grew up with the Ashley and Mary-Kate movies when they were little, when they did movies, my favorite was the Christmas special to Grandma's house we go was my favorites.
Double Double Toil And Trouble was my favourite
@@joshbanshee7542 they were all pretty special movies. I also liked the one where they go to Paris
@@serenitytoepper Mark-Kate and Ashley movies and the Ernest movies were my childhood
@joshbanshee7542 I love Earnest. That was always my favorite comedy movie. Well except for the Halloween one that one use to scare me. But still funny as hell. Now it's my top pick out of his movies.
@@serenitytoepper same it scared me haha but now its just funny
I audibly gasped when I saw this video, one of my faaaavorite movies growing up :D
Mine too
Same!! 🎉
Have you seen Look Who's Talking? Kirstie Alley was in that movie. She was also on the TV show Cheers.
Vincenzo said "she" because Amanda was referring to Alyssa as a separate person from her. So it just threw him off. He didn't know prior to that.
This is such a classic legit so happy to see this pop up.
“To grandmothers house we go” is a super cute MK and A Christmas movie. Highly recommend. Cuteness levels 📈
Do “Our Lips Are Sealed” 🙏🏼 they’re older in that one, but of the series of movies w them in different locations around the world it was one of my faves 😊❤
Second this
Third this! That's one of my absolute favorites of their films!!
Yes, OLAS is great!
RIP Kirstie Alley
She was a super big trumper & conservative by her final decade … sad to see
Mary-Kate usually played more sporty, rebellious, loud roles and Ashley played sophisticated, girly, fancy roles
Classic film. Rest in peace Kirstie Alley.
Kirstie Allen is from Cheers and Look who’s talking
Could you react to Richie Rich. It was released in 1994 and stars Macaulay Culkin.
Pro tip for parents of little kids, or little terrors, peanut butter worked into the gum will break the gum down, no need for scizzors 😅 learned this at 5 when my 4 yr old sis decided to be a terror and attacked my head with gum.
Mary-Kate usually plays the sassy sporty rebel characters and Ashley usually plays the prissy goody two shoes type if that helps at all because that's how I tell them apart
One of the best movies from my childhood!
Same here
Kirstie Alley was huge in the 80s and 90s! She was in “Cheers” a very successful tv show but I think you should check out her “Look Who’s Talking” trilogy! She stars with John Travolta from Grease and it’s super cute and funny ❤
For the record lol, The Parent Trap came out after this movie.
This one was a 1995 film, The Parent Trap the came out 3 years later. I don't even really remember the other one, but It Takes Two is ingrained in my memory from a childhood friend who basically had EVERY Mary-Kate and Ashley movie. Lol
Edit: No, in 1995 he likely doesn't have a cell phone in his pocket to remove before swimming... hahaha
We were so freeee back then 😂
The remake came out after It Takes Two but the original movie came out way before (1961). And even then the original was inspired by a book that came out in 1949 and I'm sure other similar stories can be found throughout time so we can just say they are all inspired by the same premise.
This was definitely more "the prince and the pauper" than "the parent trap"!
The three movies I'd recommend off the back of this are:
- To Grandmother's House We Go (another Olsen Twins classic)
- Richie Rich (young Macaulay Culkin, similar vibes to this but without the doppelganger/parent romance aspect)
- For Richer or Poorer (probably my favourite Kirstie Alley movie)
All three are feel-good movies which I think you'll enjoy, given your reaction to this one.
So apparently, Mary-Kate Olson plays Amanda (the orphan) and Ashley plays Alyssa (the pampered princess). So your guess was correct. And according to Google, Elizabeth Olson is 3 years younger than the twins.
As for Kirstie Alley, she also plays the Mom in the Look Who's Talking movies (an excellent movie trilogy), she was in Star Trek: Wrath of Khan and she was in Toothless.
41:44 I think the only reason he was loyal, was because he was the only bio kid. I could be wrong, but don’t think I am. If you noticed that all the other children were in ratty jumpsuits while he was a nice crisp, clean clothes he himself was clean, didn’t have a speck of dirt anywhere on him.
Exactly! He looks so much like the dad. When I saw this movie in the theater, the ripped wedding dress got the biggest laugh BY FAR, but the funniest part to me was when the dad says "Put a cork in it, okay? He's management." 🤣
I love this movie! I used to watch it every night for maybe a year when I was 11😂
This is really a modern version of the Prince and the Pauper because they're not related at all, they're just dopplegangers. But a lot of the plot beats had to have been at least influenced by the original Parent Trap.
Also, for Olsen Twin films, my fave is Billboard Dad. It's wild.
Fun fact. This gorgeous house was abandoned for years to the point of falling down before it was to be destroyed. There is a walkthrough on an abandoned houses UA-cam channel. Looks so bad.
Also as many have mentioned Mary-Kate played Amanda first, and Ashley played Alyssa first. Then they switched but for another fun fact there are two scenes where the actually re switched one being where it was supposed to be Mary-Kate walking up the stairs in the house and right before she sees the portrait of herself it actually Ashley but then just before she screams they replace her back to Mary-Kate. No idea why. Can anyone find the other scene where the switch the twins in their role? Guess below and I’ll confirm if you’re right.
This was their first box office movie (if you don’t count their cameo appearance in The little Rascals movie), but they had done several straight to tv movies and straight to video shows.
Both movies are based on a classic German children's book called "Das doppelte Lottchen" by famous writer Erich Kästner.
Miss Beautiful Kirstie😢🕊🕊❤ R.I.P #fCancer
Mary kate is the sporty one and ashley is the sweet rich one... you are right it is parent trap but this time they arent twins they are strangers
The parent trap was actually made in 1961 and starred Maureen O'Hara, Brian Keith, and Haley mills, the this movie came out in1995 and Lindsay Lohan movie came out in 1998
RIP Kirstie Alley and the newer Parent Trap came out after.
she died?
@@roilexyes she had cancer
Actually if “Amanda” met them in the lunch hall the dad probably would have been flabbergasted that his kid and that kid looked so much alike. It probably would have gotten closer quicker. Lol “You’ve gotta see my kid! Bring her along!”
Growing up in the 90s, I loved their movies! A lot of family movie nights were spent watching back to back Olsen twin movies. ❤ The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley, Double, Double Toil and Trouble, It Takes Two and Billboard Dad were my favorites! Billboard Dad is a fun one too! The girls are teens in that one. I think you would enjoy most of, if not all of their movies. 🙃
Elizabeth was born in 1989, so she was about 6 years old when the twins made this movie.
To answer your one question, Mary Kate does play Amanda(the twin showed at the beginning) and Ashley plays Alyssa. You can kind of tell because if you ever watch any of the movies at all, Mary Kate usually plays the "tom boyish" one usually, that's how I usually tell them apart. I love your reaction to this movie btw!
Sorry I just finished the video and saw that you figured out which one was which in the credits.
I love all the twins movies and would love to see your reaction to them all, but if I should pick some of the best (besides this one), it would be: billboard dad, our lips are sealed and holiday in the sun.
Some of my favorites too 😊
I like Passport to Paris
You mentioned Westerns... def. should check out "How the West Was Fun" if you can find it! 😂 I'd also recommend "To Grandmother's House We Go" for around Christmas time.
Don’t forget double double toil and trouble for around Halloween.
@@meganhutcheson5867 Oh yes!! Absolutely! Another classic.
Lol yea, I have a doppelgänger, met her in junior high school when my family moved to town. It was so bizarre for everyone, because they knew, grew up with her.
We became best friends and everyone from teachers to parents got us mixed up. Was a lot of fun.
There are a lot of similarities because it's partly based on the original Parent Trap, but the other half of the inspiration was to be a modern twist on The Prince & the Pauper, the old tale where a poor preteen boy living on the streets outside the castle happened to be close enough to the same age & look close enough to the prince (who ran away then bumps into the other boy) that he's certain once the other boy is clean & wearing his fancy clothes that no one will look close enough to see the difference if they switch places. (Kinda a statement on people's expectations & why people can get fooled by imposters, because they often see what they want out of their own self-centeredness &/or greed. The prince knows his own dad doesn't pay attention to him enough to know the real him - the way he talks, what he feels about things, what he wants in life - & the servants only care as much as they're paid to, so swapping with someone that can't even read isn't going to be noticed.)
How to 'mostly" tell them apart.. Mary Kate usually plays the tomboyish roles and Ashley the girly roles.
You said that one kid was mad loyal. He was the only blood child of that A-hole thats why he was "management" the rest of the kids where orphans thats why he worked them to the bone.
Love this movie. Also rip beautiful Kirstie Alley.
They had tons of movies before this one. Just nothing main stream or “big”. We share bdays (they’re one year older) so I grew up with them and loved the movies they did after this when they were a bit older, like Passport to Paris and Billboard Dad 😂 Also not main stream movies. This one was more known because of Kirstie Alley and Steve Goutenburg. 😊
Amanda the orphan is played by mary-kate and Alyssa the daughter of Roger Callaway is Ashley
I literally just watched a Mary Kate and Ashley Oprah interview This morning ! Ashley is older by 2 minutes 😂
They had a mystery series - my favorite - and a party series - my sister’s favorite. And a whole bunch of movies. This one and a Halloween one (Double Double Toil and Trouble) were my favorites of the movies, though I feel like we watched Billboard Dad a lot too... But you should definitely watch some of their mystery shows!
Love this film too. Reminds me of The Parent Trap 1998 meets The Prince And The Pauper.
I haven't seen this movie since the 90's when I was a little kid
With in regards to the twins Mary Kate has almond eyes and is left handed.
Ashley on the other hand has big doe eyes and right handed. Plus Mary Kate is smaller than Ashley(or is it vice versa).
Also their other sister is Wanda herself Elizabeth Olsen.
They have a first movie it’s called our first video . And they had a bunch of Mary Kate and Ashley movies videos before this movie . Hence why they were so famous after full house to get this movie .
Our first video is my favorite .
Listen...a good ol' loose meat sandwich with a deli style slice of american cheese and carmalized onions on a nice bun will make you change your mind about sandwiches that look like Sloppy Joe's. It's just a *chef's kiss* perfect comfort recipe.
Usually MaryKate plays the sporty one and Ashley plays the girly one in everything that they are on but they did a switch on this one
Except Mary Kate played a Amanda, the sporty one, in this too. Lol
Marykate plays Amanda and Ashley is Alyssa. You can tell them apart cause Ashley's eyes are rounder then mary kates lol thats how i used to tell at least.
Well, you know the parent trapped with Lindsey Lohan is a remake the original is from the 60s with Hayley Mills
*Hayley Mills
I have never seen the parent trap but i know this movie is WAYYY better ❤
I actually was in a food fight in middle school. I looked up & you could barely see the ceiling. Food was flying everywhere in all directions. Then I ran for the exit & was forced out by all of the other kids. I knew what it felt like to be a grain in an hourglass of many grains. It was pretty awesome! 😂
I watched the Lindsay Lohan parent trap before this and when everybody kept talking about how the Lindsay Lohan parent trap wasn't the original and there was an original I thought that this was the original parent trap until I realised it wasn't so talk about this movie being similar or having a similar plot it has the same actress in both films with her love interest in this one and the nanny in the other one it's understandable that you can get them mixed up and think that they're the same film more similar.
My fave!!! I absolutely loved this movie as a kid I'm 42
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Love this movie. Watched it with my kids and they're grown up and still catch myself watching it 😊
Watch our lips are sealed. Cracks me up also
They had other movies before this one they were like 4 or 5 in to grandmother's house we go then there's double double toil and trouble
i loved those movies
You might have seen Kirstie Alley in Look Who's Talking, Toothless, and on a television show called Cheers.
You dont like sloppy joes?! Oh man! Also love that he saved the horse from slavery at the end..thank youuuu 👏
this is one of my favorite movies 😍
Great reaction! I live in Buffalo and only been to the city once but didn't get to see the stuff I wanted too.
14:19 - 14:23 Scream 😱
SUGGESTIONS: Toothless - it also stars the leading lady from this movie. And Troop Beverly Hills - it's a classic!
Kirstie Alley is from the Look who’s talking movies.
Aw I love this movie!
Mary-Kate - Amanda
Ashley - Alyssa
Ashley has a little mole (freckle) above her lip
They actually had quite a few straight to video movies when they were younger than thus. I had several. The youngest I remember was To grandmother's house we go I am pretty sure they were like 5
Ahhh I love this movie, I haven’t seen It in so long
I love this movie!! 🩵
Finally i been waiting for a reaction for this movie since thires barely any on youtube. which sucks cause its so underrated.
Lmfao I still can’t tell the difference between them when they were this age 😂
Snakes are my number one fears too.
When I tell you this was my movie bro I’d play this and parent trap on replay
grew up watching the olsen twins. have this movie on vhs, which i still have today. yes, it's an alternate version of the parent trap story.
Have you seen To Wong Foo? Another 90s classic
This is more similar and based by the story of the prince and the pauper.
To Grandmother's House is another one with a younger them
React to Madeline next!!! Another childhood classic!
#mrflicks# you are awesome I love your movie reactions
OG parent trap= 1961
it takes two = 1995
parent trap with lindsay= 1998
I've had orange juice from concentrate in a can as a kid. It's very different. Not good, not necessarily bad. Just different.
Only real difference between parent trap and this is parent trap the girls where twins that where split up by there divorced parents. In this one its identical strangers that where never related.
U should react to more Mary Kate and Ashley movies if u can find any
You know how many times I've had to think about which movie was which between this movie and Parent Trap??
This one came before Parent Trap btw 👌🏼 they’re both classics tho fo sho 😊
Well, the original Parent Trap came out in 1961. The one with Lohan is a remake.
I have two words for your flies situation.... Window screens. Those of us who live in the south in the United States without our window screens and our air conditioners. I like to throw my windows open in the early spring and the early fall before it gets too hot or too cold outside. And my cats like it because they can hop up in the window sill a dream that they are outside catching squirrels and birds.
It takes two is before parent trap
Actually The Lindsay Lohan parent trap is a remake. The first trap parent trap was made in 1961
Oh mg I LOVE this movie!
Yes!!!
I thought you were right!!! until you said you thought it was Ashley... then
Damn I always thought mary kate was the orphan, I haven't seen this in over a decade, I guess it was Ashley. It's been way too long 😅
What are those: escargot is snails that rich people eat
WAIT WAIT WAIT, WE WERE BOTH RIGHT ABOUT Mary Kate!! NVM lol
I KNEW I was right but you had me second guessing myself too!!! Lol
You should react to New York Minute, The Challenge, and Billboard Dad
Their sister plays Wanda in the Avengers
Have you ever reacted to or seen the movie Look Who's Talking Kirstie Alley's in that movie too.
You should watch Big Business starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin
He said she by mistake she kept saying she was a different person.
