I've been diagnosed with this. My urologist believes I may hypertonic pelvic floor. I've seen two urologists who agree. My urologist doesn't believe there is anything else he can do for me. I've tried various medication had multiple urinalysis, PSA run, cystoscopy, MRI, CT, digital prostate exam and antibiotics with no response. The only thing I haven't done is have a prostate massage followed by urinalysis. I've been in Physical therapy and am paying for an online class created by a man who went through it. I'm now trying meditation and and yoga as well. My life has been ruined and I'm struggling with suicide. It feels like a UTI all the time. I stay away from caffeine and soda and coffee. My urologist does not believe I have IC after the cystoscopy but I wonder....I'm now being referred to pain management. Pain, and burning in the perineum as well as urinary symptoms accompany it. with painful urination when I wake up at night. I can duplicate some of the feelings by by pressing around and feel the burning in the urethra and perineum.
Some of the people in the audience are laughing. This is not a funny topic. It's all but ruined my life. And you're damned right that we have depression and catastrophizing. You might as well refer to a shrink as soon as they come in. I haven't given up and I'm gonna keep fighting. I will say that my pain decreases when I don't have to be at work and I wish that I could be disabled because of it and start my own business.

@@JA-gz6cj some. I have been exploring the mind body route. I believe this condition to be Mind Body Syndrome and a neural circuit needs to be closed. Supplements nor medications help and I had my worst flare on an elimination diet so food isn't very correlated either

May be you can try low dose tramadol. Also follow brahmacharya of body and mind for some years. It helps a lot.

There's a huge stress factor to this issue. Address that and stuff will fall into place

If it takes 6 months of chronic pain to be considered cpps, why is there no mention of pelvic floor dysfunction for people suffering with this condition within the 6-month period? So everyone who has non-bacterial prostatitis within six months is what? Lost in limbo. They eventually travel down that rabbit hole of going to doctor the doctor trying to figure out what is wrong with them because if they don't have a bacterial infection, they have to suffer for 6 months in order to maybe start to believe that their pelvic floor disorder is now chronic. Why should anyone have to suffer for 6 months? We have the acute prostatitis classification why not an acute PFD classification as well, so that less people end up going crazy trying to figure out what's wrong with them early on without any sign of a bacterial infection.

@@smart.techie the best thing I did for myself in the end was getting on medication to manage my debilitating anxiety. A low dose of Lexapro. Once my anxiety was under control, I stopped over clenching every muscle in my body including my pelvic floor. I still get little flare ups but it's nothing like it was in the beginning. But I have gotten back to living my life and enjoying being pain-free. I also got active. I think there's a strong link between high anxiety and being very sedentary in the reason why this is caused.
