This was filmed in February, which was a perfect time to visit Joshua Tree! The weather was high 60s, sun was out, and the park wasn't too busy. If you're looking for a good late winter getaway next year, be sure to add this one to your list. Hope you all are staying well 💛
This felt so so wholesome. I’m 21 and from London and I would absolutely love to go travelling round the national parks in America. I used to go as a kid every year and would do the junior ranger programmes. Watching this video literally made my heart skip a bit because it brings back such amazing memories of my childhood. Can’t wait until I can go back and explore. ❤️
I went to Joshua Tree solo too in december, and it was perfect. I also had an adorable airbnb and I was just so happy to be there. It’s one of my favorite places in the world. ♥️
Larissa Brito omg I want to go sooo bad. lol. Just the way you described it sounds so perfect. This video too. I hope that 1 day it is 1 of my favorite places too! ❤️
My parents used to take me to Joshua Tree and Palm Springs every February when I was young, and this brought back so many good memories. It's such a beautiful time to be out hiking and exploring... loved this so much :)
I really enjoyed JT from the perspective of a visitor. My mom and her sister came to 29 Palms in 1938 for water color work. The stayed a few weeks every year, so the high desert was always known to me. I was born in San Francisco and later worked in LA, but hated city confinement. 15 years living outside Spokane made me dedicated to more open space. In 2006 I had a house built on the JT Natl Park boundary near Indian Cove. When completed I moved me, my horses and mule to JT. Every day here is different and beautiful. It never becomes routine to me, but I continue to love every day here.
you inspire me, as a female about to graduate college (with a major that doesn't really do it for me) I am feeling a little lost at the moment but visiting new places has always been on my mind, and I believe its exactly what I need! I'm in love with the desert and only been to Joshua Tree once and it was magical. I don't have a car at the moment but as soon as I get one I am travelling! Thank you for these beautiful videos
The week California went into shelter in place was my Joshua Tree trip. I had to cancel it! This video will give me something to look forward soon when I book my trip again.
I just took a solo trip to Joshua Tree. Very breathtaking scenery and good for rock climbing. I went in June and the Mojave Desert is HOT. Bring lots of fluids to drink when you go during the day, especially during the summer. It's cool to drive through. Bring sunscreen too.
Great video! We visited in Joshua Tree in February. Camped in our RTT at Hidden Valley for one night. We got to camp in the dark, snowing, temps going down. One of the coldest nights of camping I ever experienced. We made drove the Geology Tour Road in our Jeep and it was amazing! Lots of good pictures and video.
I wanted to thank you for this. 10 months ago I watched this and told myself I would get away to the trees when I could finally travel. I did this last month finally and it was all because of your inspiring video.
if you do i recommend coming when it's a little cooler. it can get very hot here and you would probably enjoy yourself when it is cooler. Joshua Tree National Park is literally in my backyard and it is so so beautiful. bring lots of water either way and NEVER leave the trail. safe travels :))
I live in Palm Springs for almost 18 years and this past Saturday I went to Joshua tree by myself for the first time its crazy to think I have never hike there and I love hiking , I went to Joshua tree coffee shop and also to natural sisters restaurant , there is also a farmers market right outside , It was so much fun that I cant wait to go back with my husband !! I am glad you love it and next time spend some days in Palm sprigs !
I’ve been going in and out of JT for a few years now and I still leave absolutely amazed by this national park. Today, I checked out the Arch Rock trail and found it super fun hiking on top of huge boulders. I did get an annual pass because I know I’ll want to go back with friends but if not, I’ll go solo just like you. Great video!
Thank you Allison for making this film. As a female its really encouraging to see you take this trip solo although I pray for your continued safety I beg you to please at least take a buddy along with you for safety and for fellowship
Just got back, stayed in airbnb 29 🌴. The desert is amazing, the rocks were provocative sculptures! Elephant Rock, Tulip Rock! But I caught the 5 days of a cold spell, windy and 40 ° almost everyday in the park, 50 +° in the town. But loads of sun. It is still spectacular, I might try March next time. Of course it's cold and snowing everywhere now, even in your Seattle
You shouldn't be afraid at night at Joshua Tree. It's an Oasis in the High Desert 🏜️ in SoCal ❤️. At night it's like this 👀. Fresh air and freedom from Seattle, Washington. For the price of airfare, I'd fly once a month to our Desert treasure of peace and quiet plus ❤. Beautiful video and photo shoot.
Joshua Tree lake campground on Sunfair rd. In Joshua Tree is a wonderful place with a fishing pond with huge trees and ducks and cattails and great people who run it !
Hi Allison!! Pls make more travel videos even if you’re not traveling, just talking about these things gets me excited w ideas and hope. Could you maybe do a video of places you’ve been or suggestions of pleased people can go that doesn’t require driving to get around? I don’t have a car or a license so I always feel like my choices are limited. Thanks!!
Love the photos that you showed throughout the video! I’m 13 but once I’m able to travel alone I will definitely be adding these places to my list at Joshua Tree
I love Joshua Tree & yes, the hikes are super nice because they can be enjoyed by so many more people! We really appreciate nicely done trails (been on a lot of trails in our 12,000+ mile loop of the US)!
I live like 6 mins from the north entrance, in 29!! We go at least once a week to the park,, I absolutely love living out here! So excited to see that you appreciated it ❤️❤️
Allison, they sell really inexpensive shot shoe triggers. If your camera accepts the trigger from the hot shoe trigger you can manually take selfies with a remote in your hand. I had one a few years ago and it worked great. Great video. Keep it up.
I have been wanting to go to Joshua Tree! Thank you for your video! So beautiful! I have never done a solo trip but after watching your video, I'm definitely inspired to do it.
California is without a doubt one if the most beautiful places to get away with friends, family or alone and go into any sort of adventure you desire, I have lived in Los Angeles for about 20 years and I have visit about 50% of California has to offer, it has been a beautiful 20 years living here
Love Joshua Tree! We’ve camped in our small trailer inside the park a few times - had our Labrador retriever with us, so did do several drives. I would do the short hikes & my husband would hang with the dog at the truck. Then drive some more!
In 1999 I made a trip to California and stayed at an old horse ranch in the high desert for three months where a church in Lancaster had a ministry. I was there with twenty others people from around the world. (Rancho Corona del Valle. No longer church ministry site. I think now a horse ranch again.) During the three months we hiked and camped for a week in Joshua Tree National Park. I'll never forget it. However... we camped in dome tents. Not the luxury you had hehehe! ;-)
I discover just right know you channel thanks to youtube suggestions and WOW....I'm literally shockd on how much i loved what I did see just in few videos!!!!! I'm "full immersionig" on all your posts starting from last ones back to the others ♥ love your channel, your blog, how you explain, your lifestyle and all your changes in these last years..... you are just an inspiration to me!!!!! wow xxx Maria from Italy
A few months back you inspired me to plan my first solo trip! It was actually going to be this week and I was going to visit Bryce, Arches, and other nations parks in Utah. I obviously had to postpone due to covid. So this video is the cure I needed to help keep the travel bug at bay! ❤️
I completely understand being scared of the dark. Despite that, my first real solo trip was to Moro Rock in Sequoia in the middle of the night to catch the sunrise and take pictures. I completely fell in love with the feeling of solitude and made my way to Bright Angel Point on the Grand Canyon’s North Rim within a week to try my hand at astrophotography. I hope to make it back out west soon to check out places I missed, but in the mean time I’ll just enjoy traveling through your videos. Thank you!!
Hi, had to subscribe immediately just by the fact you have great taste on Airbnb’s! Your trip just inspired my next short getaway. I live in Miami and going to places that help me disconnect from the daily crazy hectic city life are a MUST! Love the fact you are a solo traveler (woman #girlpower)! Thanks for inspiring me!
I live in Joshua Tree!! it's so beautiful here. if you do come and don't like the heat, October-November is probably the perfect time for you to come! bring lots and lots of water and NEVER EVER leave the trails. safe travels :))
Thanks for the vlog. Been wanting to visit joshua tree again. Last visit was when I was a teenager. Just waiting for the parks to open again. Hopefully soon.
Wow America is soooooooo beautiful!!! It's on my wish list..... Love and hugs from Cape Town South Africa 💜🌹💚

Hey Allison, I really enjoyed this video. Joshua Tree is one of the places on my list too. Thanks for the tips. Looking forward to seeing more of your travels. Cheers!
I'm going to Joshua Tree and staying at an airbnb there for my birthday in the next few weeks!! Your shots of the park are stunning and the video is getting me so excited, can't wait to visit soon 😊
Lol I’m staying here too and was scared to go out the first time I came but I became comfortable after and the stars are beautiful to see when you walk up a hill
JT is a great little town, I have lived here almost 6 yrs and am very very content, had to go down to La Quinta in November what a MAD HOUSE that is, traffic is horrible, everyone drives at least 60 miles an hour all the time... Couldn't wait to get out of there, don't even try to change lanes.... 😤
There's something intriguing about your work. Scaredy Cat, LOL! I do night photography so I'm out on new moons in places with no lights so if you walk away from your tripod you can't see it. I actually put reflective tape on all my tripods so I can hopefully flash a light and see the reflection, ha ha. I'll use two rigs one for star trails and one for light painting or Milky Way so it can get tricky to find my stuff. You can set your rig outside while it's still light-out - point it to what you want to shoot, stars or what ever and set the intervalometer you a time that suits you and get the camera when you wake-up. You can have issues with condensation pooling on your lens. That happened to me at Body, CA shooting the big wheel. Safe Travels!
Alison, Hi! 🙋. This is a beautiful video and I very much enjoyed watching it. I live about a mile from Highway 62 and Park Boulevard, the corner that the Crossroads Cafe is on where you had breakfast in Joshua Tree. My parents moved here more than 35 years ago from the Los Angeles area, and after caring for them for 4 years or so, when they passed their home became mine. I never didn't like it here, but over the years I have really come to love this little area, having come from Los Angeles as well. There is, like you said, so much to see here and in the park. I love what you did, just driving in and getting out of the car whenever something caught your eye. It sounds like you noticed a lot, which not many visitors from out of town do. It sounds like you have what we call "desert eyes" in that you don't think that everything is all one color. The photos/video of the sunrise you took are absolutely gorgeous! There are mornings when I wake up early for whatever reason, grab a cup of coffee, and go outside to watch the sun come up... the beauty is still breathtaking to me, even after more than ten years here. I couldn't help but notice that you paid special attention to our cholla cactus, appropriately nicknamed the "jumping cactus". Whenever I wander off my property I still return home with several stuck in my shoes, hence the "cholla check" before I walk into the house. 👟🌵😖🤬 Next time you're here try to make it to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings on "the Highway (62)" across from Crossroads Cafe It's pretty cool - a local thing to be sure. Thanks again for sharing your visit here, you're welcome back any time! Hugs from Joshua Tree, MK
I can’t believe you were an hour away from we’re I live in California 😫 I love going to the desert 🌵 I wish I would of known I would of sent you to see some hidden gems out there but loved the video so happy your enjoyed it... and I laughed when you said Yucca valley you had said it right is pronounced like Yuck ♥️
The Airbnb is amazing! Went there last week and it’s definitely a must. The scenery is so eye grabbing. Definitely do plan on going back in the near future, planning a camping trip
Thanks Allison for this awesome travelling blog and vlog! The info you provided, helps me a lot to know what I should do in desert cities and JTNP. I am always your followers on UA-cam!
I'm watching all your videos on my road in Africa! It's so comforting and enchanting, I felt like I'm with a friend. BTW, I'm also afraid of the dark! :') Night photo bummer!
your not the only one afraid of the dark! lol... I've always been afraid of the dark since I was a kid, but I've learned to carry really Bright flashlights!😊 and I installed really bright led lights on my car. Also... it helps when I go into the dark if I take mt vert protective dog right by mt side.
This video is incredible. Well done! One of the more personal, artistic, and information videos, I've seen in a long time. I love how calm you are in front of the camera as most UA-camrs are full of this unauthentic energy. I am heading out to Joshua Tree this weekend and although it will be unbearably hot, I'm looking forward to exploring and inspired to catch the sunrise! xx
Otherworldly trip. Fantastic footage. Outstanding editing. Flawless experience. How can anybody dislike it? Just came across your channel and already a fan.
I’m an astrophotographer and JT is my go-to for dark skies. I’ve spent many nights alone in the dark in remote locations - but if it makes you feel any better, the first time I tried to get Milky Way shots inside the park, I couldn’t concentrate because it was SO dark and the environment seemed so alien. Over the years I’ve figured out ways to get past this - shooting near campsites, near the observatory, or at least in parking lots - but JT is freaky at night and I don’t blame you for your reaction. One of the great things about JT is the abundance of secluded, well-outfitted but inexpensive short-term rentals - these days when I go I just set up in the yard of my rental and get great shots without feeling like I’m in a horror movie.😂
Yucka is how we pronounce it here also careful about telling rental car companys you're driving on a dirt road. The insurance won't cover damages If they see you've been on a dirt road Thanks for the great showing off of my home.
If you do a q&a soon, can you discuss what it is like travelling without your husband? I love that you have something that's just for you. Is your hubs jealous? Is it lonely? I'm sure you guys travel together too buuuut 🤷♀️
I was thinking the same! I'm the kind of person who's settled on not marrying but seeing Alison travel alone so much makes me re think my idea of marriage
I highly recommend you camp there someday! Camping under the stars when they are that bright is incredible. There is nothing obscuring the view and it's not so scary because there are other campers around and the stars make it bright. I just camped at Jumbo Rocks and made a video about it.
Just stumbled on this video. You're so relatable and I really liked watching. I also loooooove the desert and JT is on my list. Going to Big Bend National Park in few weeks (I live in Central TX) ✌🏜
My husband and our 4 yr old would go almost twice and month because we loved it so much!🙌🙌🌙🌠 we miss it so much 💔💔 hopefully soon the park can open up again👐👐👐
Im about to do this in February this weekend so its funny how you say its the perfect time to go! I'm going to try camping inside the park because im on a budget but I love the video thank you!
For my 25th bday I drove down from SF to Joshua Tree ... And I realized I'm afraid of the dark too! I wanted to stargaze in the fenced in backyard and I just couldn't bring myself to!
This was filmed in February, which was a perfect time to visit Joshua Tree! The weather was high 60s, sun was out, and the park wasn't too busy. If you're looking for a good late winter getaway next year, be sure to add this one to your list. Hope you all are staying well 💛

I was there in February also and visited Cholla Cactus Garden on the most beautiful night ever.
Yucca is pronounced "Yuh Kuh."
Hey I grew up out there , still love it im glad you like the place
If you haven't tried it you should try country kitchen

As a fellow solo female traveler, you are one of those that I look up to ♡
A welcomed breath of fresh air right now as I sit quarantined in my apartment...I absolutely love the diversity of the California landscape.
I went to Joshua Tree solo too in december, and it was perfect. I also had an adorable airbnb and I was just so happy to be there. It’s one of my favorite places in the world. ♥️

Thanks! I never realized how amazing the area was in late winter/early spring. May have to make a habit of going more often during that time.
Love Joshua Tree, it's literally the best get away and amazingly beautiful when it's Milky Way season.
i live in socal so im able to take a handful of trips to Joshua tree every year. seriously one of the most magical places

Joshua tree looks so beautiful! I would love to visit some day. Now that we are in quarantine my wanderlust is even stronger! ❤️
Same! It's definitely bittersweet posting my last travel video for the foreseeable future. Looking forward to traveling again when it's safe.
Same here, I cannot wait to get out and explore again!
Christina Marie , come on out , it’s beautiful right now ! Stay at The Casita , it’s tucked up in the rocks with a view of forever

I was stationed in Twentynine Palms MCB for 6 years and having Joshua Tree National Park across the way was the greatest.
The week California went into shelter in place was my Joshua Tree trip. I had to cancel it! This video will give me something to look forward soon when I book my trip again.
Stunning! I love these videos of your travels! Especially during social distancing. It was a nice break from the real world.
I just took a solo trip to Joshua Tree. Very breathtaking scenery and good for rock climbing. I went in June and the Mojave Desert is HOT. Bring lots of fluids to drink when you go during the day, especially during the summer. It's cool to drive through. Bring sunscreen too.

I teach at the high school in Joshua Tree/Twentynine Palms. It is in the middle of freaking nowhere. The park is gorgeous because of it!
What a great little trip! I’m kicking myself because I live for a year in San Bernardino and never went.
This is my village ! Joshua tree has wonderful people and places to get to know !
Glad you explained how you take those solo selfies! Thanks for the tutorial.

Allison, you are an amazing photographer, so well done along with your Yellowstone trip. You are inspiring, thanks for sharing your adventures!
Happy to find your video. Planning a trip there in the next few weeks as weather permits.

Your photography/videography is so good Allison! That new lens looks amazing
I’m in awe over this video ♥️♥️♥️. You make the most beautiful footage ever, in always so excited to see what you get when you travel!
Safe. IMAGINE how much care and protection must have gone into caring about this.
Beaumont resident here! Joshua tree is so beautiful

That sunrise was breathtaking. May have to visit solely for that
Thanks, this brought back such wonderful memories. I’ve got to go back there. Loved your confession of walking in desert darkness fear.

Next time you're here try to make it to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings on "the Highway (62)" across from Crossroads Cafe It's pretty cool - a local thing to be sure.
Thanks again for sharing your visit here, you're welcome back any time!
Hugs from Joshua Tree,
MK
I'm taking my first trip to Joshua Tree in Nov. Absolutely can't wait!!
Could you share the airbnb listing?
Your travel videos are my favorite! Thanks for sharing about being scared in the dark. That was fun to learn about you!
Give you girls props to whoever travels by themselves yall are brave 👏👏👏👏
This looks wonderful and is on my list. Cannot wait to explore again
This is my home town, my dad worked for Joshua tree national park for about 25 years. 🌵💜🌞
Yucka is how we pronounce it here also careful about telling rental car companys you're driving on a dirt road. The insurance won't cover damages If they see you've been on a dirt road
Thanks for the great showing off of my home.
Wow just started watching your videos simply goosebumps for this solo trip and tempting to go around there
Thank you for keeping us motivated
The area is so gorgeous. Thanks for sharing
I really enjoyed this and will add it to my bucket list if we can ever get on a plane to the USA again.
Lovely video Allison! Beautiful. I was in Joshua Tree park a few years ago and its stunning there.
My favorite place to be... Beautiful scenery the rock is amazing, especially to climb... Wonderful video... My heart always teens for Josh.
I love travelling, from Bangladesh!!🩵🇧🇩
Your video quality is so adorable, fantastic, awesome.I like your all videos.
Awesome video..I am going there today for a few days...thanks again..
I really loved this video. Im actually going to JT on a solo trip and this gave me so much courage. Thanks
My husband and our 4 yr old would go almost twice and month because we loved it so much!🙌🙌🌙🌠 we miss it so much 💔💔 hopefully soon the park can open up again👐👐👐
Just took my first solo trip to Joshua Tree too :) Love your video and what a beautiful airbnb too!
You are so talented! And likable! I really enjoyed this video; so entertaining and helpful!
Im about to do this in February this weekend so its funny how you say its the perfect time to go! I'm going to try camping inside the park because im on a budget but I love the video thank you!
I’ll be there next Saturday. Definitely gonna try and stay at the Airbnb you mentioned. Thank you!
For my 25th bday I drove down from SF to Joshua Tree ... And I realized I'm afraid of the dark too! I wanted to stargaze in the fenced in backyard and I just couldn't bring myself to!
That does look like a fun trip! You’re so adventurous
