Nice one, mate. Had a buddy named Nick whose label made a couple of wet albums cos Joe Boyd demanded it of him. Nicholas got disgusted - he wanted his voice recorded like "I'm sitting next to the listener in my bedroom." He pressed me to speak with Boyd about his frustration and ask if I could "help with engineering pointers about his music." I told him no, this is better discussed with Joe's boss - the guy who signed Nick to his label. Walla - Nick's 3rd & final album was dry as the Sahara!

I love short and to the point. Almost Everybody just keeps talking I HATE IT. I think they just like to hear their own voice.
Well, in the early 90s people recorded who hated anything 'old' and didn't have the budgets. It was the urban, in-yer-face sound. Now there are loads of people who think this is th eonly way however you can have a big reverb with an inverse EQ to the vocal and it stays separate. In the real world, reverb spreads out across the spectrum, digital reverbs don't do this as much but impulses do. So if you send the vocals to reverb before their EQ it works. Here endeth the sermon.
I just learned from that video more then I will ever know. I will probably one day be explain in the how reverb kind of sets it in the back in the 3d realm. I will basically steal this guys explanation of reverb and wet vs dry. I will explain it as if I thought of all this and alas this video long forgotten. I apologize for when i do steal "the 3d" realm of music it will make no sense to the listener. but I will delude myself thinking I am looking cool like the guy in the video. I am not cool I am not cool at all and for that I apologize.
