- "I'll Help You Get There" is a song written and arranged by Craig T. Cooper. With backing vocals by Denise Steward and Eddie Miller (soloist, piano [acoustic]).
Craig T. Cooper is a soul-jazz guitarist, composer, producer and engineer. He began cello lessons at the age of 4 & soon went on learning trumpet, drums, piano & finally the guitar.
In 1984 he started to work as a studio musician, alongside Anita Baker, Bob Dylan, Barry Manilow, O'Jays, The, George Duke, Patrice Rushen, Ronnie Laws, Crusaders, The and Tone Loc amongst others.
To diversify, he worked on numerous movie soundtracks and also hit the road & toured with the likes of Cheryl Lynn, Billy Preston, and Ronnie Laws.
Why this guy didn't make it to the mainstream is beyond me.
Its a clue that the mainstream is a lie... as all things of the Matrix inherently are. The truth is often obscured, but your own ears can't be deceived.
@MackeyDeez I ask the same question as well.
Back in 1989 in Chicago, living on Michigan Ave with the B.M.W. drop top 325 on bbs rims!!! You couldn't tell me I wasn't the shit. Had that Craig T. Cooper " Got That Thang" in the car and in my apartment. This was how you woo the ladies young men.
2022. This jam has aged very well.
My daughter was born in 1989. I played this song religiously the first two years of her life. She is 31 years old now. Whenever she hears this she pauses whatever she is doing. This is her song dedicated from me.
That's so nice, what a chilled groove!
My all time favorite Craig T. Cooper song, hands down. I've spent countless hours driving down PCH in Southern California jamming to this.
