I went to Jr. High and High school with your cousin and I was in band with him in Jr. High thru High School. He was and still is the coolest jazz man I know. You have a very talented cousin and happy to have had the pleasure of being in the band with him throughout school. Mount Vernon Jr. High and Los Angeles High School C/O 1979!😉😊
OMG!!!! WJZZ was the ish of jazz radio. It still saddens me that it's gone. I think it was 102.9 FM. Anyway, yes this was and still is one of my jams for a different reason today than it was yesterday. Man I would put this on repeat on my cassette tape, lol.
Yes 1989- 1990 babbyyy! Wjzz smooth jazz V98.7 quiet storm all day. I miss those days so much. I use to sing this in the hallway of Southfield High School lol
I was a teenager in the 80s when I first heard this song. I would make tapes simply recording from the radio. I'm a native washingtonian born and bred so anybody who knows DC knew about MELVIN'S MELODIES and the QUIET STORM. One night I was recording a song and I heard this afterwards; I listened to it and kept it on the tape because it sounded beautiful. And it sounds just as beautiful today. This song is the epitome of timeless
Yeah making tapes was what we did back then I use to go downtown to this record store and have them make tapes of songs that were rare or out of print right on Woodward ave downtown Detroit
The Rose was the one to give us great...quality music like this. When I hear certain songs from back in tha day I often think of those true radio personality's like Gerald McBride, Rosetta & others. Good times & Great, Real Music!
This song take me back to my younger days I love this song and yes 96.3 WHUR is were i heard it to in the 90s Melvin L, Bob James, Jeff brown these guys made the quite storm sound like Washington
@@mrwilson1613Denise was heavily influenced by Phyllis Hyman and Jean Carne. That’s probably why the OP is imagining Phyllis sing it. She sounds just like her.
I just recently discovered Craig T. Cooper and I'm sold big time. Can't figure out he got by me all these years! Dude is definitely the truth! Awsome post!
Lazarick chatman I have 2 CDs of Craig T. Cooper. I think I've had these CDs about 10 yrs or more I love the guitar & he is a Great Guitarist. Very Unique! Also, when I was a teenager, I liked Wes Montgomery, "Bumpin on Sunset", some other favorites are, Larry Graham, Ernie Isley[youngest Bro] George Benson, Earl Klugh, Santana, Norman Brown & my BAD Man, Pat Metheny. There are others, that'll pop up in my mind later.😎😉🤗
Here in 2021, simply because music like this doesn’t get outdated. It’s not on Spotify & the CD & cassette is long gone. Calming, seductive music with depth & mood is rare nowadays. I wish artist would zero in on music like this, realize what an irreplaceable vibe it is & at least try to evolve the quality of music today to this level.
I used to play this cut on a r&b radio station I DJ'ed on back in 92' and loved it!! I felt that it should of been more sucsessful than it was. Beautiful vocals by Denise Stewart and a sensual jazzy arrangement by craig, it still sounds just as good as it did back then.
This song was and is my slow JAM....big shout out(s) to my fav quiet storms...WDAS-FM Philadelphia, Pa. heyyyyy Tony Brown!! And....WHUR-FM Washington D.C.!!! They bring the romance and memories in a big way!!! Great post....keep bringin' it!!
Oh Lawd Yes!!!!!!! I still have my cassete of this LP "Got That Thang". Yoooz a damn lie if you say don't get caught up while floating your head back and forth listening to Denise A. Stewart do her most precious thang on this track....emm...emm....emmmm.......Ah Yeeaaaaaaah!
Night time. Dim candle lights. Sitting on the balcony with loved one. Full moon. Nice breeze. This song playing in the background. What more could one ask for?
You are right, I think the first time I heard this cut was in D.C.. Since then, it has been a steady on my list of the greatest slow jamz of all time. The flavor is similar to Genobia Jeter's 'All of My Love." My spirit aches for passionate slow jamz steeped in the soul of black folks. Keep Bangin!
You have no idea how much I miss you.. seem like yesterday I was singing this song to you. 1998 , I still cry for you. and even call your name, I miss our Quality Time.....HLJ still loving you.....
WOW I am soooooooo happy that I found this song finally.....it took forever but now I've found it...can't wait to get the album so long....I'll run a bath and relax and listen... THANKS A MILLION : )
Thank you God and those who posted this! I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SONG FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS!!!!!! Bless you all!!!! Now I have a radio station to contact and talk about!!!!
An absolutely BEAUTIFUL song!! Check out the EMOTION in:"I wanna say in every WAY I love you,but I'm AFRAID you've given UP on"us",and you NO longer CARE!!" i LOVE that part!!
I used to cry because I was going through some stuff with my other half. This hit every nerve in my emotional mentality. All I wanted was what she's saying. Now, today I listen only because it's beautiful music and I can smile.
I remember Rosetta Hines I met her at a event at Hart Plaza in the summer when I was a Sophomore at Cooley High in 2000 before she retired from 107.5 very nice lady. (I’m 36 a baby to some folks 😂😂)
Loved this song since i heard it on WGCI Chicago's Quiet Storm show back in like '91 or '92. Wrote down the chorus to remember the song's name and never heard it again. Never knew who sang it or anything...UNTIL NOW!!!! Great song, reminds me of "Funny How Time Flies" by Janet Jackson. Doesn't sound exactly like it, but it reminds me of it
I was a 20-year-old in South L.A. when I heard this jam on the radio. I'm 52-years-old today and it STILL sounds great
@Ramon Le Blanc Harts;I feel the EXACT same way about this!!
Heard this on KJLH and was hooked
This is one of my all time favorites
Yeah, I remember when this was the follow-up to "I'll help you get there". , sounded amazing then, and even more.amazing today
I used to hear this once every blue moon on KDAY in LA in the 80s late at night.
Never knew who sang it! Never forgot the tune.
Man I miss those days
Brings back memories of WJZZ and my Detroit connection......used to love this song.
They don't make them like this anymore, quality music with a meaning.
That awkward moment when 1 of your favorite songs is Created by your Cousin Craig Cooper❤️ #family🙌🏾

I listened to this song on 107.5 WBLS New York (Quiet Storm)
I saw Craig T Cooper in concert and he was a beast on that bass.
What we need is QUALITY time

Denise A. Stewart got some pipes!!
An she looks good enough to "sop up wit a hot, homemade buttermilk biscuit", (I'm a country, southern brotha)!
and she dont sound like Phyllis HYMAN,
I love that sexy Mezzo Soprano voice of hers!!
She dose sound like Phyllis Hyman ❤ But a little on the saprano side Mrs. Hyman was more alto bass both sound good tho❤
WJZZ in Detroit used to play it.
Peter J Yes Sir!!!! :-)
Peter J...yes, Detroits old jazz station, I miss it so much!
your Rosetta Hines..............
Now the only jazz is 97.9 HD radio only

Been looking for this song since 1991- WHUR- Howard University Radio Quiet Storm!!
