Next time I’d lead with what the product is, how it works, why it’s different or revolutionary, etc. 20 minutes of why the founders are great not only looks like you’re hiding the product, but viewers don’t care about the founders until their product is a success. It’s not compelling storytelling to tell me why a random person is building something which may or may not work.
Welcome to the world of PR & marketing around Crypto. Sell the dream, never the product. What is the product? "It will become apparent, once we start getting speculators. oh wait I meant investors". Trillions have gone into this industry, some of the best minds worked on it, not a single product useful for the masses other than tradable crap for speculation and money laundering for illegal goods through triangulation. See this kind of thing a lot in the web3 space. Maybe the elephant in the room is that what they’re doing might not create as much value as they’d like us to believe (as compared to a non blockchain way of doing whatever it is they’re doing)
after watching this I feel a lot more motivated as an aspiring artist as now I know there are people like SY and Jason trying to create a more creator friendly world
This is great, I also was dwelling on this idea after I was creating hundreds of million viewers by taking other people's content and putting my own spin on it, I came up with certify Content, I created a pitch deck back in early 2023 and it was also built on the blockchain creating IP licenses platform monetization and live data reports. I didn't end up continuing because I didn't have a place to explore the idea more in New Zealand here . I will definitely be checking out story
I know Jason. I am telling you, this man is a professional. He is philosophy first, action second. Build on top of story asap, before they get too big to reply.
It's a really interesting idea, but here is some healthy scepticism: - Let's say I want to make a movie. I liked character 1 from artist 1, world 1 from artist 2, etc. I have "N" worlds, characters and plots. It becomes a bit too tedious to handle all these "lego" blocks. Plus if character 1 has Robot aesthetics, and world 1 is Ghibli-esque, I can't simply dump in Robot 1. I need to make it fit with my world. Downside is I might end up paying a LOT of money for N artists, more than the money I pay for hiring a small team of artists. But there is an upside as well - it's "free to start" - I don't need to hire an artist, I can use their IP and use AI to modify the world. The smart contract will handle the payment anyways if the mode is royalty based and if I get some Ad revenue. Still feels a bit weird - Copyright is a hard problem to solve. If I'm an artist, I can copy and tweak the drawings offchain The best example is Palworld and Pokemon. You can't easily detect infringement of IP in this scenario. Heck, I don't think we can do anything in real world as well. But this might affect your platform revenues if a large chunk of users simply copy, tweak and paste.
That's why they set-up the rights to be very modifiable. Using your example, you don't have to use the world as it is. Same thing applies to the Robot. It's about the rights offered, and you can talk the Artist out of it, if the profit is their motivation or even just seeing their character/world in use. You know, you never know how the rights are put. Each creator has their own idea. Plus, you shouldn't forget that you can use the idea of the Robot for example, and map something similar with your personal touch. You can even contact the Artist to make something for you. The limits you've set, are personal boundaries you've set. That is not a real problem! Hope I've clarified the idea further!
If I copy or take inspiration, I haven’t stolen. Piracy isn’t theft. Theft is theft. Copyright, trademark, and IP laws are why we have shitty car engines, or watches. Every manufacturer have their own method that no one can replicate. Fuck that. Fuck copyright.
Clearly they've put a lot of thought into this, it's not just another startup looking to cash in.. this feels very artist/creator friendly giving back the power over IP many were angry was taken with this new generative AI.

Good question, founder here. We've built an API that allows any distribution platform, onchain or offchain to leverage Story. We work with offchain apps with 2-3m+ users that use Story and none of their users know about blockchain or have to interface with it. It does require platforms to use the API for tracking, but we're also partnering with existing infringement detection solutions. Just like SMTP needs a spam filter, we are working with third party partners to support our protocol on infringement detection. Further, all IP registered and licensed on Story is backed by a real legal contract, so worst case scenario, there is legal recourse (though we think that is highly expensive, it is a good backstop). Hope this helps!
@@jasonzhao8784 thanks Jason, helpful! For music, do you partner with Spotify and different PROs in various countries to track royalties? I'm interested in building a permissionless remix platform using Story
not exactly sure but I think the point of the startup is to build that infrastructure and technology to allow for that kind of tracking (off the chain). maybe they embed meta data in everything that allows for tracking or something of that nature.
@@jasonzhao8784 very helpful, thanks! do you have a partnership with Spotify, Apple Music and the PROs in different countries to do the tracking and payments yet? I'm thinking of building a permissionless music remix platform using Story and would like to know how viable it is to return splits from what is primarily offchain revenue to the OG creator right now. thanks!
So anyone who throws money at these people are basically a glorified gambler! The truth is fund raising ceos just raise money because they raises it before, not because their companies generated positive returns across all investors! I would give these guys a dollar!
Great analysis, thank you! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). How can I transfer them to Binance?
I watched the whole thing and I still don't understand why would artists want to pay for licensing to create art.. they just create without permission...
This is essentially artists throwing copyright license agreements out there for anyone to sign... I am not sure if this would be popular for established artists. Famous art work and monopoly seem inseparable to me. If any content creator becomes well-known (through this platform or not), the next step for him is to find a mid/big publisher who will pay him more $$$ for an exclusive right over his work (instead of small companies promising 1% or 2% royalty on revenue that may or may not exist). For not-so-well established artists, I would imagine this platform may cause price competition as there will be more and more comparable similar art work offered on the platform... I am not an artist... but.. If I were one..... I would use this platform only if I am a total newbie artist looking for some attention or have tons of lower-than-average/average art work to throw in for income generation..

This is a really interesting idea. But I don't quite see how IP can be enforced? (Non-crypto dummy) Scenerio: Say artist1 made a character called, fancy cat, and register on this chain. Now come bad guy1, he comes and infringes the IP by making fancy cat toys and sell it to people without cooperating with the rules on the chain. Question: Now the fancy cat IP is never registered in a government body... How can artist1 recoop his lost? It seems like an exact replica of the IP needs to exist in some government system for the chain to be valid?
I wouldn't completely agree. This is just the beginning on IP related issues with AI progressing from day to day. This is needed. And many many more other solutions
I don't think it is way ahead of time. They're lot of lawsuit going on against AI companies because of IP infringement. I hope this company solve this issue
In 30 minutes, they never covered how the product works or protects IP in the real world. Just a lot of patting themselves on the back. It's not that no one has had this idea - plenty of people have - it's that blockchain doesn't solve the problem. Another cash grab, but congrats to them I guess. They'll never have to work again.
this is an unrealistic business model. Even if someone does argue that this was his or her idea art is all about getting inspirations from others arts and the world as a whole. Even if the final product is similar that doesnt mean one copied another and there is no way that anyone can prove that. U can have different intentions but end up drawing the same paintings. This goes the same for music, drawing, film etc. I'm not saying this is a scam or anything but there is no way this is gonna work over the long term. I honestly dont know how they got so much capital just because many of artists use this platform to declare their IP. In the real world, no one's gonna use ur app to pay for ips in the first place. Because art is created out of inspiration. No true artist will go to ur app find some ips they can copy and then just pay for it.
Imagine a non music industry person combining the vocals from one song with the music from another and being able to put it out without any copyright strikes or takedown notices.
