Props to your editor. Your video is cut down to the essential references to the video to make your reactions make sense without extra fluff which I respect. It helps that you are very vocal about your thoughts I'm sure. Keep up the good work! I can't wait to watch the rest!
Same here. I had heard good things when it came out but I still wasn’t that interested. Then in July I just chose this off the Netflix home screen and ended up binging it all in a day
Welcome to Arcane - no kidding, this is truly an amazing series. Couple of things to note - this show is incredibly information-rich, so taking it slowly and re-watching scenes is nothing to be afraid of. Also, it is a masterwork in "show, don't tell" storycrafting. There will be a little spoken exposition, but most of what's going on is expressed through emotion, tone, and action rather than dialogue. Hopefully no-one spoilers anything for you, and I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did. Take care, and I am looking forward to the next vid!
Oh, a quick thing. Right at the beginning I believe we saw 2 bodies, not one. As for how the aboveground underground thing, there's 2 parts to the city, separated by bridges. The poorer area has the "lanes", former mines repurposed for housing. That's the underground bit, but as you see at the end they do have buildings aboveground too.
the animation studio that did this actually worked in a gorillaz video, so maybe that's why she looked similar Also, the Powderpuff girls? I thought they were the Powerpuff girls haha. And the thing that powder threw was an actual nail bomb but it didn't work like she said so it only made that pink dust cloud
youre right it is powerpuff girls HAHA. when i was editing i was like.... that's not even right what was i thinking LMAO. also that is so cool about the animation studio working with gorillaz!!!
Perhaps the environment determines what behaviors are necessary? Do you think they have schools in the under-city? Or do you see that they learn what they need to do to survive? And in such an environment what kinds of adversities(adversaries) do you think they have to overcome in order to grow?
I found the bridge scene telling in many ways. Not least because Powder is singing... essentially a nursery rhyme about begging from the wealthy "friends across the river". The wealth gap here is not new if a kid of... maybe four or five-ish has internalised "seem non-threatening and play on their pity". I am also quite happy that the sisters adressed the conversation Powder missed the important part of, rather than letting a stupid misunderstanding get between them. Still... might be better to try not to rely on snark like Vi did there, in case someone misses the punchline, like Powder did... it's a fairly old trope and it does grate when people fall out over stuff like that.
l'll try to help you understand geography of the place a little bit better. Piltover/Uppercity is located on one side of the river, while Zaun/Undercity is on the other side. Technically it's one city, and Zaun is only a district of Piltover, but we obviously can see how much two sides of the river are different from each other. Piltover is located at the thin line of land between two big continents, which makes it a very important port and trade town. Two sides are connected by several bridges, that can be lifted to let ships pass. There is a lot of verticality to this city, especially to Zaun, as we saw in this episode, when Vi and crew used elevator to get to the Lanes (which is a district of Zaun), because large part of the Undercity was built in the fissure, where initially were mines of Piltover. That's why in the show they sometimes call citizens from Zaun fissure falk or trenchers. So, in short, lower areas of Zaun are deep underground, while upper areas are above ground (that's why we can see stars and moon in the last scene). Also, both water and air in Zaun are very polluted due to it's heavy industries. That's why kids didn't dive for the loot in the river, and that's why enforcers from the top side wear breathing masks, when they go down to Zaun (those, who lived in Zaun all their lives, got used to it). Regarding characters age: Powder is around 11, while Vi, Claggor and Mylo are 14-16. Ekko is around Powder's age. In the first scene Powder was 5-6, while Vi was 9-10.
This series rewards you for paying attention. The chase scene draws you a map and orientates you to the geography of the series. The kids run through the rich areas of Piltover, over the bridge and into the more run down areas of topside. Then they go down into the under city of Zaun.
The show is actually 3 acts of 3 episodes each. You seem switched on and paying attention well. You're going to enjoy this I think. Lots of feels to be had.
I'm a bit jealous that you have the chance to view Arcane for the first time. Well, on the other hand, watching it for the fourth time by now is still a ton of fun.
I understand what you means about the Avatar's vibe. And they definitely are to me the two best animes ever (and I am a big fan of mangas... But no manga have touched me like this two shows).
@@redtornado1337 Battle angel Alita isn't bad, but once you've read the manga... Of course there is the scene with the dog, but it's only a scene, with a secondary character. I have seen numbers of incredibly great japanese shows: Full metal Alchemist, Berserk, Evangelion, GTO, Cowboy bebop, City Hunter, Escaflown, My hero academia, Dragon ball, Naruto, Monster, Gantz... But none of them gave me this urge to rewatch it again and again except for Cowboy bebop, maybe.
not spoiler but vander isnot there dad he is like adoptive father to them powder and vi parents died in the opening scene but i guess u just saw the mom
'Pretty people reacting to Arcane' is my favourite kind of UA-cam recommend! But srsly, try to avoid spoilers, online, in the comments. It's not like Star Wars or Marvel as these shows try to give you the experience you expect. This one uses that against you, it hits you hard when you don't expect it. You'll enjoy it more if you don't know what's about to happen!
5:36 Puff? PUFF? ;-) Vi told her name just two minutes ago; she said "powder". Well, it both starts with a "p": close, but no cigar, I'll generously say.
fantastic show, you're going to love it, its an emotional ride but well worth it, as long as you have tissues on hand haha, i hope you enjoy the show as much as i did
Nice reaction i enjoyed it a bunch ! I know this is unrelated and you might get this question alot, have you see Attack on titan / would be willing to react to it ?
I actually love attack on titan and a lot of other anime! I am currently watching AOT on my own time and just started season 4. I don’t think I would do AOT or other anime reactions because I think the copyright is quite difficult to get around, but if you’re interested in watching a reactor who has done both AOT and arcane, one of my best friends AlanaMisako is a great youtuber who has done both :)
@@emme oh yea i watch her too. Loving her spy x family reactions at the moment. The copyright stuff is tough to get around true . What episode are you on on AoT season 4? It's so good im addicted to watching aot reactions haha
I don't think this is a spoiler, because it's never quite explained, but it'll help make sense of the setting and its layout: the underground/lanes/undercity started out as pit mines dug on the periphery of Piltover/the city above. The undercity was established on the walls/floor/surroundings of the mines. So that's how they can be 'underground' but also have a view of the sky.
The show never really explains what the gems are, only a little bit of what they're kind of capable of, but if you're still interested when the show is over it's definitely worth checking out the lore because the truth of what the gems are is pretty dark
they are on patreon for early access, the rest are scheduled to be public on days in the future! i post upload schedules every saturday as a community post here on youtube! :)
RIGHT from the opening scene I can tell this is going to be an emotional ride. But I'm ready for it 😠 (I think)
It is. Lets prepare to jump on a rollercaster.
Oh yes, that's what we all think... Excited for you, I wish I could watch this for the first time again
keep the tissues on standby
You're not ready :p
No one i know was really ready for what comes next.

Never played league of legends. Knew nothing about the lore. Watched this on a whim. Absolutely amazing show. Hope you enjoy

Let's gooo I am so excited for arcane reactions!!! This show is really good.
"She's just seen a lot of trauma." Amazing unintentional foreshadowing.

League of Legends has a decent plot. Who knew?

7:50 I think Powder was trying to make a nail bomb in that scene. Which is kinda troublingly un-child-like behaviour if you think about it. 😅
Yeah, and doesn't want to fight ...

The Start of Act 1 of Season 1, you’re in for a ride.
*Vander beat a man to the ground with metal gloves* "- Dad ?" wwwwokey
Powder totally has a Noodlez vibe going on. Love the Gorillaz reference.
Yay .. always happy when a new reactor picks up this masterpiece !

ohhh okay that makes sense! yeah for some reason i did not notice the father in that scene. thanks for letting me know!
Funny that you mentioned "Gorillaz". Fortiche studios (who animated this show) also did the Gorillaz animation.

It's better to not play LoL before you watch Arcane. As a league player, knowing who will and wont survive hurt my immersion.

You need to raise your standards. That's where Arcane comes in.
