- For my Presets visit: johnnathancord... Mike at Rose Morris sent these ones to check out a while ago (only on loan, this isn't a paid demo or review). When I was a kid, my Dad was looking for a used guitar for me, and the things he was looking at were 80s Ibanez, 80s Aria and that sort of thing. Aria are still making guitars - let's see what they're like?
(Mike also offered a discount code to viewers of this channel: "JOHNSOLDOUT" for 10% off).
rosemorris.com... - the blue one is £149
rosemorris.com... - the posh ones are £299 at the moment I think....
Using the preset "Bassman"

01:25 Some Playing
5:47 Thoughts on these guitars
Anyone got any "go to" budget guitars? I was thinking Yamaha Pacifica or Ibanez AZES - but I think those are about twice the price of these? Maybe a Squier or something?
I dunno if this is available everywhere else but search soloking? Tbh i never played it myself but it looks good. The i have is squier CV. I like those. The Az and pacifica (played it) looks great
I have an old 70s italian Eko manta (my first electric), beautifully built, sounds like magic. I wonder how their new guitars are?
I have squirt bullet with $300 dollar pickups from schecter. And Wilkinson bridge
Also I heard Harley Benton are good for the price but personally never played one. Eart guitars have are also calling my attention.
Jet JS400
My first “non-department store” guitar when I was a kid back in ‘82 was an Aria Pro II. 19 frets, one pickup, and a mini toggle from what I remember. I suddenly felt like a “serious” musician because my guitar came from an actual music store LOL
I bought a Sakai strat many decades ago, back in Liverpool, and I still play it... but I wanted either an Ibanez or an Aria Pro II.... I bought my first Aria strat last year - and it's become my first choice electric. It was one of their inexpensive models - what you'd call a 'beginner's guitar - but after setting it up... it's gorgeous! It doesn't matter how much an instrument costs - it's what you can do with it that makes the difference and some manufacturers get it right!
Wilkinson parts are great at any price range. Especially if your doing gigs several times a week. The binding around the red and the poplar body is a good touch.
awesome playing. its been a while since guitar demo didn't completley bore me. my local guitar shop only sells aria guitars for some reason, they just brought these models you reviewed.
I like the balanced full and broad frequency spectrum of Yamaha guitars. Just a little over a month ago, Matteo Mancuso posted a video playing Giant Steps (John Coltrane) on a Yamaha Pacifica. Sounded great. 😎
Yeh totally love Yamaha guitars - I was kind of shocked at the price of the entry level though (although maybe I'm looking at the PAC 112v instead of the 112j - that seems to be around the £170 mark vs the PAC 112v which is more like £270?)
@@johnnathancordy Have you ever tried a guitar with an asymmetric neck profile, as used by EVH? It made sense to me, so I did that mod to a couple of my guitars, filing down the thickness on the back treble side of the neck. One guitar had a bit of a shoulder, and the other felt a little thick. They are both improved via that mod.
@@johnnathancordy The cheapest is Yamaha Pacifica PAC 012v
I came for the review, but stayed for the music. Thank you!
I'd like to see Aria Pro 2 versus made in Mexico Telecaster
I could listen to you play forever…
You can still get the high end Japanese Arias, but these are real quality 😊👍
Did a hacker send you that knife? Blimey! You related to Paul Hogan?
Good to see the Tokai guy is still supporting you.
I have one of the higher end Yamaha Pacifica’s. Not bad. The Seymour Duncan HSS configuration fills a gap in my collection.
Yep, why would anyone have this kinda knife in their home?
@@phood9294 only serial killers 😉
Hello jhon, between this aria pro mk ll and the ibanez azes 40, which one do you prefer?
Nice vid bro. You play good. Nice the chordage you choose and your lickery is tonelicious - kudos
hey the red one matches that pleasant Pheasant you once ran into, what a friendly bird that was, he liked pecking holes in Jcordy. LOL.
i have a custom shop avb bass i bought new in 1991 , hold its own against anything else i own , stingrays ,warwick thumb ,,, its better built that most of what i own and plays super fast and slick .. comfortable and one of the best instruments i have ever played ...
The pricier one sounded decent, not so much the cheap blue one.
Other good cheapies are Jet, Eart, Harley Benton, Slick, Carter, Gear4Music (like a HB but for other big German shop) and of course - Cort!
Cool interpretation of Only Exception :)
My very first electric guitar bought in 1999. It was a used one.
Should I buy the Ruby red one ? Please let me know.
The part you played at 17:00 sounds familiar...like a song I've heard...wonder which one it is... Sounds great
Thinking about getting one of their three pickup Teles as a guitar I won’t have to worry so much about at the pub. Played well at the store but they also claimed to have done a setup on it so idk if they’d be as good out of the box or not. And for beginners that’s a much bigger deal.
Aria's quality control is pretty solid, the ones we sent John are factory setup. It's extremely rare that we have to do anything to them.
We won't mention the knife/sword you unboxed with.😂
I can't get over how he pretty much opened the box with a sword
It is a guitar box opener, designed for that size. Stewmac sells them. I think…
Cool! The one thing I can't find out about these guitars: does MK2 have shielding? Found no tear-down videos.
Japan baby❤and you rock Man💘I say Japan because Aria Guitars is Japanese Company🇯🇵💖if i make a mistake let me know
I love these off brands I kinda want a nicer Tagima
Thanks for thorough review! Great playing as always!!
I'm thinking of getting 714 and upgrading pickups to Toneriders. How would you compare it to higher models superstrats? AZs, Schecter Nick Johnston/Route 66 or your boutique stuff? Does the Wilkinson trem have a big block?
Also how does it compare to Harley Benton Fusions, Earts and Jets? Has anybody tried all of them?
I've tried the Jets, I think the very highest model jet JS1000 is comparable, otherwise I'd say the Schecter is a step above
@@johnnathancordy thanks John!
Man, you make those guitars sound fantastic!
What's the fretboard radius on that guitar? Is it a 12 or 9.5 or compound? Thanks for the review.
12
I want an Aria TL
Holy moly you call that a knife?
Got a Jet yet?
The Jet JS300 and JS400 are incredible quality for the money, and just good guitars in their own right. Only around £150-£180 in the uk. Roasted maple necks and excellent construction.
Aria Pro II guitars are great for anyone who wants to play guitar. They still do make some of their guitars in Japan. However, the more common models are made in China.
Really torn between aria and sire s3. Which one would be better value?
I bought the sire s3...it was awesome guys. The trem is so smooth and everything was great but felt it's very heavy and didn't see any big difference when compared with the fender. So I returned it and am planning to buy the Aria. So did u buys get the aria?...hows it?
Another “budget” guitar… just what the world needed…
It's what we've been crying out for.
At least though it's not a "student edition" guitar that costs nearly £900?
@@johnnathancordy Yep. Price hike for some **most) of the more popular models is pretty considerable since the beggining of this year, at least here in the EU at big German retailers like T and M-store
Cheer up Mister knight Owl 😘
Not all people have the luxury like you do Mr Knight Owl.
@@stevenbardies lol I own two American peavey predator strats I paid 125 and 115 for respectively that I put new pickups in lol and a Korean peavey Raptor I paid 72 bucks for. I’m not anti budget axe by any means, I just get sick of demo videos and there are so many damn options but they all come from the same 5 or 6 damn plants so how different are they really. John’s a good player who I enjoy listening to play, I’m just sick of gear and want more music. Cheers everyone
Link for your knife please.
“That’s not a knife, this is a knife”
The cheaper one sounded well worth the money.
New Rambo blade ? 😀
Yeh I think around that £149 there's not a ton of choice? Maybe Jet or something or a Yammy or a Squier? Obviously loads of choices that would be pretty naff but....
I have an Aria PE-480 ($569 USD) it's a Les Paul style guitar with a blue quilt maple top, three-piece maple neck and mahogany body. It has PAF style humbuckers that I quite like and the typical two-humbucker style wiring with a twist; it has series and parallel switches for each pickup. My overall impression of the guitar is that, it has a similar sound and feel of a Les Paul, but it is lighter and upper fret access is better because of the deeper cutaway and neck joint. It's very easy to play with low action and a nice fret work. My only complaint is that since I have hands that are one smaller side, the neck is a bit chunky, but it plays so easily that it makes up for it. It's the same guitar in this video: ua-cam.com/video/mwkuZkvpcDg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=GregsGuitars and this one: ua-cam.com/video/Cz53KgjFqTY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=langthiep
Aria-Taylor ??
Yes and pros
Aria make very good guitars
I think if I was a parent and my child wanted to play guitar I get him one of these instead of one of them cheapest ones and maybe they'd want to play it with more. And if they don't it still had gotten value. But going by them the cheapest crummiest one when their fingers are bleeding they won't want to play it will they? And if you can't afford it get the cheapest ass one you can find it's better than nothing that's what some really famous people had in the beginning.
Eart guitars are very cheap and a lot of people are comparing them to guitars in the 1000$ range. Things like stainless steel frets, roasted maple neck, and decent hardware. Of course, quality control is still not great. But worth trying for sure!
