The turmeric was impressive.
Thanks!
You are very lucky to have homegrown cauliflower 😊. Wonderful harvesting , keep it up👍
Can you make a video on what seeds are you starting in the month of March? Thanks, your videos are so informative as always and a joy to watch.
Thank you, I do mention it in my monthly episodes in the ToDo section, check it out: ua-cam.com/video/G0Lh9Uidp58/v-deo.html
Always amazed at how much wonderful harvests you get!!! Your family is so lucky to eat such good organic food!!
I like leaving radishes in the ground and harvest the pods.
You always have the best tips! Thank you!
Great video and update. You're inspiring me to be more adventurous on my plot this year. Thank you
Absolutely impressed with your turmeric growing and more so by the drying and processing of it into powder. We did have a hot summer here last year in England but who knows what this year will bring. Thanks for all your videos. Nuka.
Great to hear!
@@CaliforniaGardening When is a good time to plant turmeric?
Your veggies look good and healthy. Thank you for sharing. I live in Georgia, and it has been very cold here.. I will start some of my seeds inside and try to have starter plants come Spring
Sounds good, Happy Gardening!
Have been following you for long time and appreciate all your videos and tips. Perhaps it's time to get some land. Leave CA.
Maybe one day!
So nice video,, thanks for sharing
Thanks and welcome
Nice video.
You have me looking up galangal! Never heard of it- I grow ginger and Tumeric indoor during the winter, no I need to get a new rhizome!
Growing galangal was new for me too this year. Hope you can find a tuber to grow!
You're the closest UA-cam gardener to my city ❤️ So I love following your channel for growing where I live 👍🏽
Glad to know! Happy Gardening!
Healthy eating, what a harvest! Could you do a video on weed removal? My California soil is heavy, so when I pull a chunk of soil comes with it. I feel it exacerbates the problem by waking up more weed seeds. In my raised beds, in the grass and grass border. Trying to go with a more natural approach. please help, thanks
I was trying to grow during October and November but it was so dry nothing grew and had to replant seeds the day before the rains arrived
I tried growing during the winter only two things that grew were potatoes and garlic apparently it was too cold for the other seeds to sprout
This winter really was a lesson on what grows in cold rain and what does not.
Yes it was a tough winter for SoCal standards :)
Was the tacking agent endemic to the straw; or, did you select a particular brand for this added trait? Thank you, Mr. California Gardening, for another comprehensive, beautiful video.
Not sure what the ingredient is, but the EZ Straw (from Tractor Supply store) has this tacking agent which helps the straw to stick to the soil
@@CaliforniaGardening Thank you; we intend to get supplies from there this year, so perfect timing.
I am absolute fan of your garden. I also grow in zone 10b. Where do you get the seeds? Do you use transplants for brassicas or direct sow?
I mostly grow from seeds but sometimes buy transplants, I usually do not direct sow
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Where do you purchase the black saucers?
Here you go: amzn.to/3xyZFuo
Ho do you combat June bugs. I've had large and small devastate my raised beds so trying to find solutions. Ive purchased a weed cover in hope to make small holes to plant in and I bought some fine netting but then how do the pollinators get to the plants. Wondering if I should plant the squash ion grow bags innstead. I also had some small black bugs completely cover all of my pnions and cabbage.
The June bugs grubs are always there in my raised bed soil but don't seem to cause any harm. The actual June bugs however damage over ripe fruits including tomatoes
@@CaliforniaGardening Wondering what wiped out all my veggies, I have he white moths that come through also so thinking of using the netting, just dont know how the bees will pollinate
Wow so jealous haha We're getting -30 degree weather up here in the North East while you've got all this! Do you know exactly what variety of lettuce that is at 7:50 ? Looks like some sort of iceberg or ice queen. I've been trying to grow that variety
Hope I shared some sunshine with you! That is an iceberg (heading) type lettuce but the variety was not mentioned on the plant tag
@@CaliforniaGardening You did indeed so beautiful in SoCal! Oh wow it looked so loose I didn't think it could be a heading type but maybe it's just because it's so young and you harvest 'cut and come again' style? It looks just like the type I've been getting in my salad mixes at the grocery store so I'll have to try it when the weather warms up (in 3 months :/ haha)
Since it's February, what type of seeds did you start sowing now?
I will start most summer seeds by mid Feb - peppers, eggplants, gourds, etc
Your videos is amazing. i really like it. Can i talk with you?..
Can u pls let me know how much time it will take to get sweet potato? I’m in Canada. And v have just 3 months growing season so I want to try it.
It can take up to 6 months so you can wait. When a freeze sets in you can harvest
What on Earth's garangal?
New to me too. Its used in Thai cuisines, sport of a spicier ginger!
Zone 10 does not have a winter.
So Jealous of your climate there to grow things that a lot of us can't at this this of year.
Water butts are totally essential for areas that do not get much rain, and even more so for place that reach high temps. You will treat and insulate just like for people in cold temps to protect them from freezing but in this case the reverse by protecting them from heat.
I have have a lot of youtubers from Cali, with no or even the smallest of water butts and then say how hot it is and how they have a drip systems in place. Where is this water coming from?
If you use tap water then it is best to let it stand for 24 hrs before using on plants to let the chems evaporate and dissolve. Drinking tap water is taken from the underground water table beneath you. If it runs dry the trees and forna get dry and are easy to burn in hot weather. Without the living root structure the earth underneath it will dry and decay. Heavy rains will cause mudslides. Further heat will expose sink holes.
If you have a roof over your head, there is no excuse not to capture rain water and re use it in your garden before using tap water that can save people in a drought. There are so many cheap methods out there to collect water.
Research where does rain come from, icebergs melting and heat rising.
We currently store enough rain water for two weeks. It totally wasn't enough last year so was hard during the drought and hose pipe bans. gardens and allotments were also banned from using hoses. Thames Water in London had it banned from Aug to the end of Nov. Other places in the UK were longer after the wildfires we had.
Annual Wildfires is a sign of things gone wrong in the natural eco system. As are floods and mudslides.
Concrete houses, gardens and driveways all add to this. The earth's core doesn't need a concrete blanket as it is already hot enough.
Don't even get me into people buying bottled water when you have safe drinking water at home.
