@@MichelBiesot No need to apologise. I completely agree, but of the rest I’d pick Jeff. And not because I think he’s a less competent drummer. Coghlan had his beats, the right beats, and fuck you to the guitarists. Rich was about energising them in the later years when they needed it.
What was Rossi here 42? It’s nuts. The music press and commercial radio had dinosaured these guys before they were 40. I can see why he had the hump about it. These days people older than that ride BMXs (normally one handed, don’t forget the oat milk flat white in the other) and skateboards round my local park, they talk about starting something like opportunity is infinite. Good for them.
Remember had this on vhs... was always very impressed by the sheer power of the band...fast,loud, heavy, good old rock boogie.... they had rehearsed a lot for the 1989 gigs, therefore the music was almost perfection...sold superb training.... playing vs marshalls and monitoring in front, i mention there is a kind of chorus effect on rossis guitar or something else... ricks change of guitars is extreme, 8 or more guitars in the whole show...from g tuning to bb or open tunings, he was the best rythm guitar player from 1970 to 2016...46 years of pure power and energy. The foundation of status quo... together vs lancaster coughlan vs rossis great soloing over 15 years the frantic four... their heaviest and for me the best performances was in 1972 the marquee, the summer show, the 1974 apollo glasgow, an mainz 1975 gig, the different 1978/79 shows vs backwater/ rockers rollin in the set and an 1999 ohne filter show...also the reunion gigs 2013/14... were the original ones get together again, as i said before raw, heavy pumping good ole rock boogie... you couldn't sit still by music like this...glad i saw them live.
I heard them in 2005. Better than the albums. I even was a witness to hear the drum solo live. That was amazing. A bonus was to be on the second row. A real closeup.😀
Always wanted to see this concert I like Perfect Remedy very much as Dad used to play it always in the car when I was like 12 and brings back memories. I’m 35 now still love the album.
Great live delivery of Little Dreamer and Perfect Remedy, two unfairly overlooked songs. The Power of Rock'n'roll too, a great but infrequently heard anthem track.
John, they were fantastic I was at this gig either the night before or night after they filmed, I was 14 and went with three mates and we went 3 years on the trot. I was only 14 when we started going, I had to grow up fast as I was driniking Cider at the NEC like a fish lol. Such great days. You can still go and see Francis' 'new Quo' I was going to see them earlier this month in Wolves but didn't make it.
@@mark747captain I will get to see the new quo sometime, I love Richie Malone and Nick Cave on the drums. They make a great line up and bring a breath of fresh air to the band :)
I was at the SECC (Glasgow) leg of this tour. A spotty 17yr old. It was my first quo gig and I was disappointed…not about the gig (which was immense!) but for the fact my mate had got tickets for the seated bit (they wouldn’t let us stand!) and I spent the whole gig wishing I was down “pit” bouncing like a maniac!
Had this on vhs... these were their second heydays.. the then new guys brought a lot of fresh energy and joy to the band - there is a superb intro to this concert on the vhs, if you have this i beg you to upload that as well, it's a perfect warm up .)
I've always said Jeff Rich was and still is the best drummer Quo ever had because of the pure energy of the man... he even said in the Rock Til You Drop Documentary that he always HAS to give everything he has because it's what the music requires... 2nd best drummer was Matt Letley, who coincidentally, replaced Rich after he left the band in 2000.
In what way? The stage-tape for that track was made up of: click track (tambourine), acoustic guitar, woahs, Rossi lower-vocal harmony (40:10 - 40:26) - and the tape stops from 40:51 onwards. Both Rick and Francis overdubbed their vocals for the home-video release. They were ill for the majority of this tour, causing them to give bad vocal performances.

Many many concerts I had seen in Dortmund from status Quo.🎸🎸🎸💯💥💕
Jeff is so good at driving the guys. More Jeff! Come back Jeff!
Too fast. Much too fast. Lost the vibe. It’s just a race to the end
I'd absolutely agree Jeff Rich is one of the best drummers the Quo have had

Sorry, but John Coghlan is the best drummer the Frantic Four ever had! ❤😅

So great to see this again. I was there Monday 18th December 1989. Nearly 35 years go! 🙂

@@UnofficialStatusQuo That is a lot for a band like quo.
@@stefanstrittmatter6459 compared to the tape they use for In The Army Now, that's nothing.

Omg... we have a dispute here, because John Coghlan was the best drummer the Quo ever had! ❤😮
