Thank you. My heater makes a bunch of clicking noises when I first start the truck. Of course I have no heat..... or AC for that matter (short in compressor)
I think it could be that you purged the air out of the system. I had a radiator flush during the hot months off the year. Now it’s getting cold and no heat.
It's quite possible the radiator flush loosened up some crud that then settled in the heater core. I've had the exact same problem on older Cherokees. Much like your situation, I had one with great heat, then I flushed the radiator and the heat vanished. Flushed the heater core and back to great heat. You should've seen the muck that came out of the heater hoses.
It definitely could be. The heater core is pretty simple to flush so I’d try that first because if it’s an actuator or blend door problem, it’s not near as easy.
@@airkilroy23 Always added antifreeze, never water, but it keeps getting rusty and brown again usually days after a coolant change. The mechanic did it 3 times last time before it came out clean, and it stayed clean for maybe a few weeks to a month then got brown again. It has a aftermarket Chinese made radiator in it if that makes any difference. I read they are not electroplated or protected so coolant can eat them up.
@@MrWolfSnack once you get rust in there it’s hard to get out. Have you tried running any rust remover/flush through it? Most auto parts stores will carry it. I’d bet that’s why the heater cores are going out on you. They can stop up pretty easy. I had to flush mine a couple times even with the fluids looking clean.
@@airkilroy23 Yeah it's been going out on a yearly basis. The mechanics refuse to fix it because they are lazy and don't want to pull the dash. It's my mom's truck and a daily so I can't do anything with it until I know what I'm doing but I seen videos of superflushing and heater core flushing and it doesnt look too bad, just unhooking hoses, draining fluid, refilling.
Thanks, helped me greatly with my 98 Dodge Ram 4x4
Thank you . your experience was a lot of help
Thanks for teaching me how to do this and saving me a couple hundred dollars much appreciated.
You do not have to take the motor off you can see the motor shaft through the gap half inch and watch it turn so don't fight the screws!!
Great video 👍

I ended up flushing the heater core good and that fixed the problem. There can be some strange noises when it’s partially clogged as well.
I think I have a handle on the problem. Love UA-cam! Gonna make sure antifreeze is full first.
👍🏻👍🏻
The clicking is probably your actuator going out. Liquid going through or even clogged is not going to make a mechanical clicking sound.
"There not really long." Next question, how big is your hand? 😄
Very informative video btw thx
😂 🤚🏻
If a heater is not hot. Then Is it a "cold er"?

Would a clogged heater core cause it to be cooler on the driver side or temp actuator I have dual zone climate on my 04

Going to do this right now
Thanks alot
i got a 02 4.7 got heat when im sitting still as soon as i start driveing it goes cold
99 5.9 mine is opposite lol cold when stopped heats up a bit when starting to drive
You know why a heater core would all of a sudden keep dying out every year? Keep having that happen on an 02 durango
It could be getting stopped up. Is your coolant dirty? If you’ve ever added water only without antifreeze it can create rust that can block them up

@@MrWolfSnack yeah on most vehicles, flushing the core isn’t too bad. It only takes about 30min on my truck.
My ninja
What to does “ walleted out meen ‘?
From context, I believe he means that plastic bit gets brittle and rounded off and cannot grab onto the shaft that rotates the blend door.
