  • This was a special trip to the Mission Mountains of Western Montana. I went under the invite of Andrew Courter. If you have not already, check out his UA-cam channel ‪@NorthwestWanderer‬ . We spent 3 days/2 nights along the shores of Turquoise Lake. We had other objectives but weather forced us to change plans as the trip went along. Despite the rain and chill, this trip was worth every effort for the benefits of experiencing something new. Enjoy.

You two have created some great videos together. The Bailey's Range hike you guys did was epic.
The rain can put a damper on any backpack; it gives one more reason to return. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Tom. The Bailey Traverse was one of a kind. Crazy how big ambitious trips just fall into place and sometimes others don't. If they "don't" I think it is all a frame of mind. It was super cool seeing Montana in this type of weather. Still have to go back to see the same place from Pt. St. Charles, or even from the perspective of a high traverse of the Missions. I am sure Andrew already has a plan in place to do so. He lives and breaths the wilderness and makes it his effort to be out there as much and possible.

Thank you for this video. I would love to have an epic trek like that. Maybe one day soon, I can get to Montana. I have had a few backpacking trips in MT, and they all were great. Your trek proves there is no bad scenery in Montana.

Amazing video! We absolutely LOVE Montana and cannot wait to go back. It might just be our favorite place. Backpacking there and getting to see those amazing views would be fun!

Absolutely agree. It has a special feeling that I really cannot describe. It's been eight years since I last backpacked in Montana. Once you go, the state gets its grizzly claws in you and you have to go back. After realizing that the drive is not that bad from Western Washington, I am inclined to go back more often if I can wing it.

The Turquoise Lake hike is best approached as a day hike as there is little room for more than a couple campsites.

Yes, we found this to be true. However, we did make it work with the tents that we had. Too bad the weather kept us in one place because we did have plans to camp in another location for our second night.

@@aaronfulwider779Turquoise is a beautiful place and as a habitual hiker, I encourage others to hike it just not overnight.

Thank you Andrew. You shot lots of great videos with that camera. I remember when it was just a newborn on the Bailey Range Traverse.
