    This was the first proper video review anyone made of ADOFAI, and it made our whole team so happy, not even because it was positive but just to have someone finally take such a deep look into our game is really fulfilling. Not to mention illuminating to us. Thank you for doing what so few people are doing!

    For everyone: This game has a LOT more than 4 hours of potential content. With the custom maps you can play for hunreds or even thousands of hours (i mave 500). A lot of custom maps look as good, or even better than some of the maps from the game creators.

  • @PennyLapin
    @PennyLapin 4 роки тому +45

    When the game was first released on steam, I legit tested how hard "pure perfect" is, going through to complete the original 6 worlds plus the bonus stage with pure perfect. The experience definitely accentuates the theme of "learning how to complete a level" on a scale that goes beyond the basic gameplay; you not only need a solid understanding of rhythm and the mixture of audio and visual cues, but the ability to keep consistency with the level that you are playing to achieve that satisfying "Pure Perfect!" text at the end of a world.

    • @PennyLapin
      @PennyLapin 4 роки тому +6

      My "pure perfect" runs were definitely drowned out by the more popular side of the game, which is custom levels. But according to the developers, my B-X Pure Perfect run is the first recorded run of its kind, and carries a bit of game history because of a bug with the speed mods (snail and rabbit) that alters the timing window for each tap. Knowing the odds of something like that, I feel at least satisfied that my stubbornness showed something about the game that other people could strive for.
      For proper context, here is my steam discussion thread from January 26, 2019, just two days after the game's official release:
      steamcommunity.com/app/977950/discussions/0/1742232339934379976/

      you probably wont read this but i tried ADOFAI for the first time earlier tonight and on 2-X, offbeats, I struggled a lot. But my first ever clear of it was a Pure Perfect!! I had no idea until now that it meant perfect accuracy. I'm super excited to see where I go with this game, and as a percussionist, I feel like this game was almost made for me lol

    This was amazing to watch, im very glad you've enjoyed ADOFAI!
    As a person who watched Adofai grow from the start, it was fantastic, albeit chaotic once the burst of new players poured in! Adofai was first a flash game released a long time ago, and it only had the first three worlds, which was probably why the 3rd one gave newgrounds flashbacks haha
    Dont worry, new worlds are still being made, but they dont really have much time for them since they've been working hard on their main game since forever, Rhythm Doctor! (Which is almost done, homestretch) Something you maybe would like to keep an eye on!! :eyes:

    ADOFAI is literally the first rhythm game I've ever spent more time with, and I have to say that for a beginner, it will (kinda obviously) take a lot longer than 4 hours to beat all the 20 built-in levels in the game. I've played the game for 25 hours now, and have only completed levels 1-9 and two of the symbol worlds (=11/20 completed). Just pointing out that it will really depend on the player's skill level and experience from other rhythm games when they start playing.
    The custom levels will of course increase the longevity of the content by a lot, but that's another story. The newly added steam workshop support makes it easy to download and play the custom worlds.

    One important thing I really feel you should have mentioned is that it has [beta] support for custom levels. There are hundreds of community-made levels that bring so much more fun and diversity to the game, whether it be Cry which you showed on screen, Fluffing a Duck, meme levels or effect levels. While yes, it is still a beta feature and you do have to go toggle it on manually, it makes up for the lack of levels. And on top of that, you can create your own levels, which is not a beta feature, so you can add whatever songs and beats you would like. Anyways, that's just what I think about it. Your video really did hit all the points and touch all bases, aside from what I just mentioned.

    I am a drummer for 11 years now. And I am really good, I got into all music unis I wanted to get in (but chose another career path).
    But this game is so incredibly good. The feel of the music becomes immediately clear when seeing the path (mostly).
    It has so simple rules. They don't even have to be explained. Yet so much can be done with that.
    Honestly it was pretty challenging to get into. I still like sheet music more I guess, when playing difficult rythms. But it just vibes.

    The main problem I have with the game isn’t even with the game. It’s the biological aspect of it. For some god forsaken reason, I can’t for the love of god sync my left and right hand. I’ve played more with my right, so ofc it’d be on time but my left hand always just falls out of sync or is late/early and that’s really annoying (esp since the harder levels demand dual-handed play).

    I've been playing this game for over a month now, and i gotta say its absolutely fantastic to play and is incredibly unique.
    There's a couple things I'd like to point out that aren't really explained much in the video, most of which have to do with custom levels.
    1. Custom levels. You can create and share custom levels online, with most being on the steam workshop. However it's recommended for you to switch to the beta branch if you want to play custom levels on the workshop, as it adds a custom level select menu.
    2. Custom planet colors. You can switch the colors of the planets in the bottom of the main menu.
    3. Steam workshop guidelines. If you want to upload a custom level to the workshop, the song must be verified as allowed by the original artist. You can find a list of verified songs in the link below, and you can add songs via their discord.
