  • Through a myriad of faculty mentors and community connections made over the years, the opportunity for an exhibition at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum (BRAHM) brought together Appalachian State University alumnae Carrie Streeter and Dianna Cameron for a collaborative look at the rich history of the Cone Sisters and the collective interests that ties all of these women’s stories to the region.
Dianna Cameron ’13 is the curator of exhibitions and collections director at the BRAHM. Cameron holds degrees in Art Management and Studio Art from Appalachian. She grew up in Greensboro, the same city the Cone family’s textile business boomed and where she as a young child often visited the Weatherspoon Art Museum and enjoyed what she would later learn was the treasures of a collection curated by the Cone sisters.
Carrie Streeter ’12 is a scholar of U.S. history and a doctoral candidate at the University of California, San Diego. She specializes in the history of medicine and the arts, and her dissertation explores the cultural history of modern dance and mind-body medicine. She completed a master’s in public history at Appalachian and was awarded the Cratis D. Williams Outstanding Thesis Award for her work on the progressive-era history of Broughton Hospital.
