Here's the much-awaited drive review of the MG Astor 1.5 CVT. In this video, we explain in detail the difference between CVT & Torque converter gearboxes and compare both the variants of the Astor from a driving perspective,
I’m planning to by Astor 1.5 MT SHARP . The only stopping me is about mileage . Even the pick up . Any insights about it ? How about create what’s the mileage for that ?
A lot of Thanks for review , I got the car and went for long drive tomorrow and i easily got 14 in CVT ( the car was on idle mode too for sometimes though it gave 13.5 to 14 easily, so if you drive in very low revs in highway one can get 15 or more too) And the competition has around same mileage like creta/seltos IVT gives same 10 to 12 in city and 14 in highway
Your production quality, specially the editing and content in this video is really really good. There were small cracks on sound here and there but other than that, you should stand proud of that video. Brilliantly done.
Thank you so much Siddharth for such kind words, you've made our day 🙂. We'll definitely try to increase the level of production gradually with use of better equipments and gears.
Great Review... Please give insight into the manual transmission as well... Specially hearing a lot about the slow pickup in second-third gears.. If u can comment on that
We'll try to get our hands on the Manual transmission, no promises however as the dealerships have the CVT and Torque Converter in abundance, so getting hands on the manual is really difficult.
I have Yaris CVT. CVT is suitable for urban drives but on hills it struggles to climb on steep roads. It feels like, it will slide back at that steep road. I feel CVT are not reliable for steep climbs. Please comment on MG Astor CVT regarding this problem. I am confused between purchasing MG astor CVT or Turbo AT.
If you're looking after 100% driving experience then without a doubt go for the Turbo AT, but if not and you're after the economical driving experience then you can go for CVT. No doubt the Astor too comes with all those demerits of the CVT's, but it'll not disappoint you over hilly terrain.
@@IndianDrives I drove MG astor CVT. For urban driving, it’s smooth and comfortable and deliver enough power to drive in normal conditions. In Delhi, there are no hills, so can not test drive its hill driving aspect. But i think, its CVT will not be reliable to climb on steep hill roads as both MG astor and Toyota Yaris power figures are almost same and moreover astor body is more heavier than yaris. I think, it’s better to go for turbo variant for the safe side as it will provide better urban as well as hill driver experiance
The steering feedback is good, you get three modes to switch between the heaviness of steering wheel. There's body roll at high speeds but not much to worry about, with the suspension and tyre setup, it handles pretty well.
Good review.. 👍🏼 But you should change the camera position to front while driving or stop the car and talk. Taking eyes out of road isn't good, adjust the camera position or just talk without looking into the camera while driving.. 😊
Drive a Nissan Kicks CVT or Magnite CVT. They kick torque converters and DSGs/DCTs' back. These two are best petrol automatic cars in India under 40 lakhs.
Astor does not get a paddle shifters because it is a Torque converter gearbox whereas the VW and the Creta comes with the DCT gearbox, which are better suited for a paddle shifters. Plus the shifters also increase the cost of the vehicle by quite a margin. But if MG plans to offer a DCT in future, then definitely paddle shifters is something we'll all love to see on the Astor.
Thanks bro... In ur last video i requested for this .... And u delivered.... It cleared my doubts about my booking... Now i can calmly go for savvy CVT as i m not an enthusiast... And it will give me performance according to my need
Your review about mileage is not correct. I am first owner of Astor super CVT. Done so far 2700km. It gives me 22kmpl in morning less traffic hours and evening 18 kmpl traffic hours. I commute delhi to Gurugram daily. Overall it shows 15.6 on my meter for accumulated mileage for total 2700 kms done so far.
The road infrastructure and traffic conditions in Delhi and gurugram are different than Bangalore. We tested the combined Fuel efficiency in Bangalore with a mix of smooth and quick acceleration. No doubt if you have wide open roads and less traffic the fuel efficiency is bound to Increase.
I sold my Astor CVT Savy Red after using for a month driven for 3400kms with 3 lakhs loss. Further i request don't go for mg astor CVT. ADAS features not at all usable for indian road conditions. You will definitely regret if you take mg astor. Mileage was very poor. City 8 to 10 , highway 13 to 14 kms. Don't expect mileage more than that.
Hello all MG Astor Manual is the worst car ,If you own one or booked one take a test ride on ghat , The vehicle struggles even in first gear to climb.. Please don’t go by the looks its deceiving Its a serious issue with it
I agree with you, yesterday drove both 1.5L and 1.3 turbo, bang on I did mention this parameter to the sales guy, the 1.5L seriously lag and I had the same concern about driving that in ghats where as 1.3L turbo is a beast offering you 140 BHP torque and I did not feel lag during that initial 3-4 seconds. I feel one must look at 1.3L turbo version, only fuel efficiency & cost was the concern. Thank you

WOW CORRECT AND BRILLIANTLY EXPLAINED BHAI ...... ❤️
Thank you so much :)
The MG Astor car is good, the engine is powerful. and is a smooth in drive. Btw you actually reviewed nicely and cleared the doubts.
Thank you so much :)
I have seen many videos but you explained it so well. Simple explanation for idiots like me. Thanks for educating.
Thank you so much :)
What is the mileage in 1.5 and 1.3 turbo bro?
Turbo FE - City 9-12, Highway- 12-14
NA FE - City 10-13, highway- 13-15
Great Review... Please give insight into the manual transmission as well... Specially hearing a lot about the slow pickup in second-third gears.. If u can comment on that
We'll try if we can arrange for a review of the manual transmission.
Well reviewed about every single feature and specification. Insightful review. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much
Excellent video. A review on the manual variant aswell please 😁

Nice one brother!! Such an informative video!!
We're glad you liked it. Hope we answered all the questions you had in mind regarding the CVT Astor.

Biggest negative of Astor range is not having paddle shifters....I am going with either Volkwagon Taigun..or creta

Hi, Astor CVT owner here. The city mileage I get is 8kmpl and my father gets 8.5kmpl
Is the vehicle driven mostly in traffic conditions?
Please do 1.5 manual also 👍

Yes, if you're not an enthusiast then the CVT is the best choice between the CVT & Turbo AT.
Do share this video, so 1.5 CVT prospective buyers can have their doubts answered.

Bro give me an honest advice....
Is this car a gud buy for 18 lakhs...or is there any car better than this in this price range???

The wheezing noise coming continually from CVT astor is really irritating

Its a serious issue with it
We have not driven the manual yet to comment on the issue, but the CVT & Torque Converter performed just fine.
