This is Toyotas new cvt transmission which has first actual real physical gear which makes the car launch smoother and better of the line as compared to a normal cvt also makes the car feel more responsive as soon as the revs climb and the gear ratio completes like the car reaches 60 and the engine revs reaches 6600rpm then the transmission shifts and switches to actual cvt which is why the revs don't drop anymore since there is no gear to shift and Toyota has programed the transmission to don't do the fake shifts like older cvti transmission which you find in Grande the first shift which you saw is actually a real shift form 1st gear to cvti
@@FB6K24Z7 in theory yes but how about they just come out with a cvt that has a greater ratio spread instead? I guess that's better for the cvt 2 have less stress on take offs anyway so that's a plus!
