Battle of the Buses: Diesel vs. Electric

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has committed to going to an all-electric school bus fleet by 2035. FCPS' first electric buses are on the road and are a hit with drivers and students. In Battle of the Buses, you'll see and hear the difference between a FCPS diesel school bus and an electric school bus.

I'm pretty happy that the school buses without air-conditioning are gone from Fairfax County so that the current spares can have air-conditioning.

As a 17 year old car enthusiast, I like the sound of the turbocharged I6 diesel buses when u accelerate, and I really don’t like the fact that y’all will replace ICE school buses with the silent and electric school buses 😒😒

LOL. Internal combustion engine vehicles catch fire at a rate of over 1000 to 1. ICE vehicles catch fires so often, it doesn’t even make the news as it’s just normal. 1 EV fire though and the entire world starts clutching their pearls.

No - these are all-electric buses - the contract is partially fundedd by a consortium funded by NOVEC and Dominion Power - which supply Fairfax County with electricity.
