I was on summer break and i decided i was gonna pull an all nighter with my long distance from on facetime
so i did and fell asleep later in the day
I WAS IN SUCH A DEEP SLEEP THAT I SLEPT FOR 50 HOURS
and when i left my room i asked how long i had been asleep

Also, relatable. I got no sleep for over a month, then I slept for 2 weeks, and stood in front of the fridge drinking orange juice straight from the jug like some sort of crazed citrus gremlin in a haze because I needed calories immediately.

i used to have a lot of angst about being the only one in my small friend group that was never in a relationship and felt like i was excluded from stuff. Then I started to like, just doing shit by myself. I go out to eat by myself or to the movies, and garrett was a real model for me of being an individual. Day 2 was a rookie mistake. As a shift worker with rotating shifts - if you're pulling an all-dayer after being up all night, you go to bed early, not late, because you will always sleep more than 10 hours after putting your body through that.

I feel like being nocturnal is normal for some humans. They wanna call it a disorder or something, but what if its perfectly natural for some. If they can thrive at night and work nightshift jobs then why is it such a taboo thing. Idk, but I'm the exact same way. Its 7:30am and I'm about to sleep now, I'll sleep till 3pm and still accomplish things.

I definitely get wanting to make some changes, and for sure humans need sunlight, and there's the practical aspects of things that need done are often only available to be done during business hours. BUT I just want to say to all the people out there who are nocturnal, there is nothing wrong with functioning better at night. There's nothing moral about what time we sleep. We should worry less about what others think about our sleep schedule and just accept who we are. Regardless, this was a fun episode--as your videos always are. ;)

Hi Garrett yes I'm binge watching your videos atm because life is a little bit too much of a challenge rn and I'm desperately trying to not lose my mind or crash into horrible depression (or hypomania).. ANYWAYS, what *I* 😌 like about being awake at night, is that the world is quiet.. And people-free. I love that. Empty streets and neighbors being quiet inside their own houses is lovely. I also get the motivation to clean, I just cant vacuum at night where I currently live because I have downstairs neighbors.. I also do my laundry in the shared laundry room at night because I won't run into anybody. I was "early" one day, doing my laundry at 10 pm, and there was another woman there that I had to talk to for a good 10 minutes. So I never wash my clothes earlier than midnight now 🥲
So, the overall point is, the silence and peace in the world where other people are sleeping is what I like. I also enjoy to see a few windows with lights on so I'm not completely alone lol, in case something happens.. But I also think there's the subconscious part of having less responsibility at night. Everything is closed (mostly). There are so many things I literally cannot choose to take care of, because I need a store to be open or something. That might have something to do with it.
Thanks for helping me with my mental health. I also relate to everything here because, well, I have horrible ADD.. It's nice to not feel alone with the struggles. Love you, byeee (I'll watch the next suggested video now lol)

Just discovered your channel. Love the energy! I'm a night owl too. Typically go to bed between 1-3 am and often wake up between 9-11 am. I love nighttime because it's MY time, the only time that is only for myself with no external expectations or demands. I can do what I want!
I love being awake at night bc I'm soooo much more creative then, and my work ethic and motivation is much much higher! I'm 100% not a morning person, I don't enjoy the feeling of being awake early, and I find it extremely difficult to get myself out of bed when I'd rather be comfy, warm, and continue dreaming about nice and fun fantasy scenarios. Plus I feel extremely sick when I wake up early, and so I can't eat breakfast or drink for several hours after waking up early. Which puts a damper on my day personally.
My sleep schedule in the last like 4 months has been waking up anywhere between 1pm to 6pm, and not going to bed until like 5am to 9am ((or just not sleeping)), since me and my friend got into a habit of marathoning movies together every night on discord, which was amazing and so fun, but definitely screwed up our sleep schedules more haha.
For the last few weeks tho I've been actively trying to fix my sleep schedule bc I have daily headaches and migraines that are wrecking my ability to exist healthily and happily. So I've been trying to get up at 11am ((I keep sleeping in till 1pm but it's a work in progress!!)) and trying to get to sleep at at least 2am for starters, I'll make it earlier as time goes on but right now for me 2am is much earlier than 7am lmao. So far it's going good bc even tho I'm not sticking to the time schedules super well, I'm trying to get dressed every day ((or as many days as I possibly can)) and go for at least one walk with my dad, brother and dog, since I'd only been outside twice in four months up until recent weeks, which is really not good. I'm trying to eat food that isn't just crisps ((bc I have an actual addiction to crisps)) and making sure I don't eat after like 10pm bc before I started doing this I was experiencing EXTREME pains in my stomach at night that would keep me awake bc I would snack into the night. To combat the munchies after 10pm, I've started drinking tea before bed and sitting outside in the dark with hot tea, bc then I can go back into the warmth and comfort of my room and feel comfy and snuggly :') also unrelated, but to help with my depression and so I have something worthwhile and fun to do, I'm researching and learning how to identify wild plants and flowers and mushrooms and trees! It's something I'd love to just be able to know, and I'm super passionate about it so I get that exhilarating and satisfying feeling of absorbing knowledge when I learn more about it all, so that's been helping me too!!
I know nobody cares, but your questions at the end got me all excited and made me feel proud and giddy to share what I've been trying to do recently, so thank you for boosting my excitement for doing this!! I've had a low two/three days so I've been missing the alarm and staying in bed/in pjs, and not going on walks bc I need a shower, but this video was I really nice reminder to what I've been doing in the recent couple of weeks and has excited me again and made me inspired to keep going and get back to a schedule again tomorrow! So thank you garrett :') I hope your schedule is going okay, and if not then thats okay too! Just take care of yourself and keep the child inside you happy.
