They're made of zinc, and very brittle and porous metal. There's also a lot of impurities in Denix' cast parts, sadly. Very noticeable on most of their replicas.
The same thing happened to me with the Enfield! The way I still use it is pull the trigger lift the bolt, then just put it back down. It doesn’t cock the gun, but it is good enough.
Very cool video really enjoyed it. they are a awesome rifle I bought m1 garand a month ago for $1,420 it's all original from 1943 took it out last Sunday to the rifle range it's a very accurate rifle love it

What a shame you can't own the real thing. That's the beauty of the American Constitution, the second admendment . Nice video, I really enjoy your enthusiasm in history. Keep it up.
You pronounce the name "Garand" much better than most people from the USA do. “Garand” is pronounced "Garan" with a silent "n" if using a québécois accent, or /ˈɡærən/ in the international phonetic alphabet. "Garand" is French for "guarantor" or "someone who guarantees". Jean-Cantius Garand was born a french-canadian in Saint-Rémi, Québec, and his father emigrated to Connecticut with his family 11 years later. Jean lived most of his life in the USA, as a naturalized citizen.
GabDubé Thank you for the info, very interesting! I speak french (as my 2nd language) and the word for guarantee in dutch is garantie ( spoken like gar-ann-tie with the e almost Being silent) So It's A little simmilar :) Thanks!
Thanks so much for the review, this helped quite a lot! I really love the Garand but buying an airsoft one is super expensive and since I live in Germany there is no way of getting a real one haha! I stumbled upon a webiste that sold Garand replicas for about 150,- , but it didnt say much about the functionality except for "moving parts". Thanks to you now I know what to expect...shame about the sights and that nasty screw right at the top but Im gonna get it anyways since its as close as you can get to owning such an awesome rifle in europe! Fingers crossed that the shop is selling the old version that still fits the en bloc clips :D Cheers and Thx again!

actually the m1 was not put out of service in 1957, it was used (barely) in Vietnam from 1968-1975 and was used by the US army and South Vietnamese army throughout the war.
Good review, mate, I like how you list the good and bad things. I think it's a good replica, just not 100% authentic and a little fragile. I cannot agree when it comes to Denix slings. Maybe their color is off, and the material isn't authentic, but the slings of my existing Denix models didn't break, and I bought these a year ago. I also often mess around with these models, and nothing broke yet. Even the button and button hole to close the sling with didn't break. But maybe that's just my experience, maybe it would look different if I was really rough with these. Well, great review anyway
Thanks for the insight! I’ve handled newer produced denix replica items and I must say that they did go up substantially in quality over the years, these reviews are based on my personal experiences with these items :)
@@wardetectorist I've been a 'Denix customer' for a year now instead of years, so maybe their products were lower quality back then. Overall I like your take on these.
It's a lovely looking replica. I have a few denix items but in the UK we have quite strict laws. I went to buy one but I found out that this comes under the VCR Act which means unless you are part of a re-enactment society, Historical society or work for the government then you cant get one. Quite disappointing but thanks for the video and the review.
In the USA I just walked into a gun store and found the gun I wanted to buy, quick background check and then I was out in a few minutes. Europe sucks when it comes to personal freedom.
The intro is really great. The music and the WW2 footage. Good work mate Also that footage of the bombers/fighters with the contrails at 0:56, can you please tell me where that’s from? Thanks
kind of dissapointed by the denix brand, got a colt 1861 and its gotten lose and the screws loosen all the time, the quality does not match the price in my opinion...
i hear you.. it realy depends on the models, older production ones are usually worse in quality. some of the newer ones (especially the ww2 era models) have dramatically risen in quality, wich has to do with demand i think
have you tried disassembling it? there's a video on the denix m1 carbine disassembled and the "barrel" is not a single piece. If the rifle is the same, then you may be able to fix the "bend" by fiddling with how the pieces fit together.
OK cool. I consider getting one to display my m1 bayonet, but am held back by all the inaccuracies. Yet the cheapest airsoft version is €300 or so, and doesn't even have a rotating bolt either. Did you try any other changes to it? Like put on a real buttplate or change the sights with airsoft ones? I guess the denix is probably not worth it...
denix deliberately mismatches gun dimensions, so parts from a real garand or a cheap airsoft M14 likely won't even fit, otherwise it would be a fun project to frankenstein it :/
TrueFork yea Exactly man! There should be repro part kits in my opinion where you would assemble one with the real look But without functioning internals , complete (quality) kits for around 200€ would be killer :)
Spain at war denix replicas are incapable of taking ammo , they are only made for static display or reenacting without live firing , they are made of a weaker metal than real firearms ;)
in my case i just needed to tighten some screws and the problem was relatively fixed, but otherwise saddly no... you could try a spacer inbetween the barrel and the wood to stick it up a little but im not entirely sure that would work
