Edelkrone FocusPLUS Pro - Unbiased Hands-on Experience -Focus Module DSLR Motion Control

- The original Edelkrone Focus Module had horrible performance and failed to do the main thing you would expect from it: Accurate focus. Edelkrone replaced it for me and I am excited to finally put the new model to use.
I have updated my motion control gear and integrated this revised FocusPlus Pro model into the setup with much better results than the first version.
- Overall, this one performs so much better. The main thing, focusing, seems to be very close. Not perfectly matching what was set, but about 92% close.
- Still has the huge amount of updates that plague the Edelkrone experience and prevent you from just booting up and getting to work. Really hope they do something to improve the experience
- Overall high quality fit and finish and feels solidly built.
- A few small manufacturing flaws such as bump of molding plastic left within the gear ring teeth and machining burr on HeadPlus mount
Looking forward to using it for product photography and videos. Hopefully I'll try to feature it in some videos to help you shoot professional product photography.

An extremely helpful review. I’m looking at this module and there are few on UA-cam that run it through this type of testing. Thank you!
Just to let you know the technical name is Siemens Chart and it was developed for back focus adjustment if you know what that is.
That slight shake at the start and end of your moves is very hard to overcome and is likely by the lense being stressed ever so slightly by the force being applied or released by the motor. It is probably not anything that can be fixed by changing or refining the motor. This drives me nuts on my own system. Not Edelkrone. The problem is more prominent the more force is required to turn the focus or zoom rings on the lense. Different lenses require more or less force to turn.
What equipment were you using for your slider shots? I noticed there's a lot of shake. Great review thanks for posting this I was looking for this info!
You are right about the shaking. I was using the edelkrone dolly pro for this. Absolutely horrible stability. So many shots were shaky. I shot some footage for it and hope to put up a review on that as well. It's a great idea but needs work to be practical. Thank you!
@@compeling5596 Oh wow the dolly! Thanks for the reply!
Hello! What do you think now of the FocusPLUS Pro after a few months of use?
edelkrone sure did not help me with my focus unit or all the issues I had. If they can't solve your problem they just ignore you away. I want the new unit. I use the Tilta and it works way better than the edelkrone unit and is cheaper though it is manual. Their customer service sucks and is just rah, rah... not substantive.
Hi! I’m wondering if it’s possible to place the camera vertically to make 9:16 aspect ratio videos with the head plus and focus pro? thank you so much.
Would the focus plus fit on a pocket rig?
