I believe the spreadsheet should include the giveaways for a couple of important reasons. First, the time spent fixing them contributes to the total hours worked, so it makes sense to account for that. More importantly, excluding giveaways creates bias in the loss count. Only items that were fixed are given away and removed from the count, but items deemed unfixable are never included. For example, if every fifth fixed item is given away, and assuming a 50% repairability rate, you'd end up counting 5 losses out of 9 items (56% loss rate), rather than 5 out of 10 items (50% loss rate). This skews the loss data, so including the giveaways provides a more accurate picture.
@@temporaryscars You might be right, but on the other hand, all the videos in this series begin and end with an analysis of the spreadsheet. The series' objective is defined by this spreadsheet, and Joey appears to invest a lot of time in it. Additionally, any videos where Joey learns how to fix things are explicitly excluded to avoid impacting the overall calculations. I enjoy the content and am invested in the PoL series. While the current calculation method's limitations won't stop me from watching, it would be great to see the calculations done more accurately.
Joey quick tip it's easier to use screwdriver without a bit in to take off the anologue covers to unscrew them how I've done it for years and works a treat no heat needed
The loose rubbers I would recommend cleaning as much without lifting more glue, giving it a slight abrade on the rubber side and the shell side then use a contact adhesive or try some G-S hypoid cement which us watch makers use to adhere watch crystals and other bits, it takes ages to dry but when it has and maybe wrap some sticky tape around to force pressure should last a good long while :D
IPA is fine, but I'm curious why not a good quality contact cleaner? They really do work, last a long time, and aren't expensive (particularly 'per-spray'). A little goes a long way.
“Extended shaft” Joey 2024… lol also RB did register twice right at the end of the initial test on the first controller Joey, just in case you missed it 😊
Hello Joey! Another one of your P or L videos and another comment from one of your subscribers wishing that you will finally include (as promised at the end of the 1st series) the chart of of profit/loss. For very large amount of viewers a chart would be very helpful, it shows a visual aspect of your work. Nonetheless I hope you are doing good before Christmas!
I won a Series X controller last month on an auction... 99p Joysticks were manged up with man-gunge and I didn't like the carbon black look so bought a £7 reshell kit from China which is the same colour as the OG Xbox Mountain Dews, a good lathering with electronic cleaner and a bit of a reflow around the joysticks, left stick click came back and it stopped pointing south, right one also was sticky but now its like brand new.
joey i dont get something for example these docking stations , you buy them for 12£ and the estimated sell price is 20£ and estimated profit is 2.21£ but you sell them for 19.78£ and yor total profit is 3.79£ how is this working
Looks like Net Profit column doesn’t include Ebay fee of 9%, while Estimated Profit does. Edit: I see. Actual eBay Sell Price already has the fee subtracted from it. So it was sold for more than estimated, actually.
Hi Joey, still loving your videos very instructional and entertaining. A quick question have you ever noted the readings from a Nintendo lite usb port using the mechanic port insertion tool t-824.
The estimated profit and net profit should show the same number, if the price it sold for is the same as the estimated sell price. It would make for a much better reading experience
but they're not the same, not always, maybe he doesn't expect something to sell for much but the price goes up and it ends up being profitable, for example
The estimated profit total is kind of meaningless this far into the series now that you've already sold so many items and the errors in your estimates have accumulated over time. You should update the "estimated profit" total formula to use the actual sale prices where the items have already sold, so that the estimated total profit is as accurate as it can be. No use still including e.g. £40 sale price in your estimate if you've already sold it for £30, since you already know it won't generate £40 income. Something like SUMIF(actual sale prices, 0, estimated sale prices) + SUM(actual sale prices) - SUM(item costs) - SUM(postage costs) would give you the best estimate of total profit base on actual sale prices and only use the estimates for any unsold items.
From experience with these controllers, they're actually very good with stick drift, I never had any. However LB and RB are indeed pretty fragile (got mine repaired once and LB already feels bad again!)
Would it be possible to change the colors on the numbers ZERO (0) to a more neutral color like orange ? It makes it seem like there are so much more lose than there actually is :)
I find the bits from streams as a series on their own tbh, as everything stream- related feels very distracting. Dunno, I tried watching streams, watching segments of it within the P/L series and just didn’t work for me. I love your work, love watching your videos, but I would like to be able to tell which ones are coming from streams and which aren’t because I lean more towards the latter. Cheers!
I’m getting into soldering to fix joysticks on my Xbox controller and replace them with Hall effect joysticks. Have you ever done videos replacing joysticks before?
I see somehow you have forgotten about the other videos called Joey learns. I wish you did revive this stream and actually make a few videos there. Dont get me wrong i love all the videos but hope you didnt forget about that stream.
Where can I find that controller tester app in Windows? I have managed to find some used controllers in a scavenger hunt last month and now I have time to take care of them now. I have no consoles, I just want to use these on my laptop.
Does anyone know what these sell for (used in the us). Im told a xbox one controler would be best on an android tablet for an 8 year old (roblox game).
Sorry, Vince talented? since when is that guy talented? Everytime I watch his videos about fixing electronics - computers especially - my blood pressure goes trough the roof, because of how he acts like he knows what's he doing. I was absolutely mad when he worked on Dell laptop if I recall it correctly. he took off the bottom lid and then proceeded to open the laptop, without somehow supporting plastic around hinges. and then he kept on measuring power rails while laptop was turning on and clearly showing that ram is faulty - it was even visible from first sight that RAM had something on one of pads that was blocking the contact. Steve... well, he knows his thing, but his soldering skills are not that good. You are way more experienced than Steve in this regard.
The "rubber part you hold, held on only with glue that melts over time with body temperature" is a real pet peeve of mine. I've now had three _different_ (and very expensive) things with the same issue, all in the name of feeling "premium" over just using a nice plastic. Hell, even attaching them using molded-in plugs or something so they could be replaced would be better!
Firstly, you have a problem with your profit/loss sheet. I don't know how you can say you're on profit when from the buy/sell sheet shows you're not. also time you work, is not profit - it's loss. everything you put in: time, 1cm wire, electricity, etc... is loss. everything after sale is profit.
How does the spreadsheet show that he’s not in profit? He shows it from the row 20, we can’t see profits and losses that were before it. In the episodes summary it looks like profit. Time profit is just TotalProfit/TotalTimeSpent. It’s about hourly income. Materials are not included, this is true.
I was a little confused as well, as It wasn't explained properly. It's just net profit from buying fixing and selling the electronics. If he buys a Xbox for $100, spends $20 on parts and sells for $200 it's $80 profit. The hourly part is just a hypothetical hourly rate you would be making. Not calculated in profit or loss. So that Xbox took 8 hours. That's his "hourly profit" of $10 per hour. This is just what I gathered from trying to figure out the excel. Someone correct me please if I'm missing something
The sale price of broken systems is a problem. It blows my mind how much broken shit sells for.

It's not that serious bro.

I agree, just because you gave the item away you bought 5, fixed 5 and should account for 5 controller profits

Great work as always Joey and congrats on the early success of your upcoming charity event.
With Joey, we enjoy!!! :D
Great fixes Joey, U getting better. Keep it up

It will change the texture and never be as good. If you want to make profit the move to buy a new one is way better in this scenario.
Great Repairs and Video Joey! I predicted 2 repairs, but I thought you only had 2. Foggy brain. Thank You.

1:30 i didn't think about looking to playlist and asked you so youre reminding that to us again:) thanks
You lost me at the 'extended shaft' 😄😄😄
Great vid!
Hi Joey it’s Umar from the emails the package has been sent
I suggest contact cement for fixing the rubber coverings. Also scuff up the plastic underneath before applying the contact cement.
rubber will not stick to it because it already has oil in it, it is better to replace the part

so much easier to get those buttons off using low melt
Extended shaft 😂😂😂
joey FYI you can can use the right sized socket to unscrew the anolog sticks 😊
Always check serial number on controller from MS, they can still have warranty

Ha..Super weird..I actually picked up an elite controller today :P
You should get some bw-100 it will do you some good
Did you test the headphones jacks on all the controllers also?
When I remove the caps for the joysticks I use the top piece to help unscrew them.
Would it be possible to change the colors on the numbers ZERO (0) to a more neutral color like orange ? It makes it seem like there are so much more lose than there actually is :)
Mm, repair competition. Temping us with a good time?

Nice fixes, but the main issue I've had with xbox controllers is actually the headphone socket failing on them, and you didn't seem to test those!

It’s a website. Goggle “controller test” and it comes up on top.
Its a website, Google "Gamepad Tester".
It's called the Xbox Accessories App :)
@@JoeyDoesTech thank you. I am planning to use these controllers on an older Android console and my laptop, but they are dirty and drift like hell.

again, i am not interested in the sallys spectacular spreadsheet, its too complicated and confuses me
