The first part of the idea (seeing examples of good and bad parts) is good, the second part (getting an idea what a repair bill will be) is unrealistic. Different bikes have different levels of difficulty when it comes to different repairs, the parts will cost different amounts bike to bike, and shops charge wildly different rates dependent on many factors. An example of this: swapping a piston on a pw50, xr250, kdx220, KTM 350exc, etc. are all gonna have wildly different costs for the same exact repair. It's more realistic for the buyer to look at parts costs of the specific bikes they are looking at to get an understanding
