    Last time I got this saw out I ended up exhausted and virtually in tears. With this technique it started easily for first cut of the year.

    Thanks so much! My husband has a time starting this saw, always did from the beginning. He even took it back to the store where he got it because he thought it was a dud. Well, the salesman started it right up therefore, back home it came. It has always been a pain in the neck, so I decided to try and find the solution. Again, thanks very much!

    Thanks, you saved my arm. The technicians at Stihl said to crank the MS250 on full choke until you hear the first blurp (engine wants to start) and then go to choke half open. I cranked forever and never heard a blurp. The engine flooded and I removed the spark plug and dryed out the combustion chamber. At that point I watched your utube video and all is good now. Many thanks for saving me $$$ on a new saw.

    Thank you. I’ll give it a try. But I am so frustrated with this saw. It just doesn’t seem like it needs to be this difficult, especially with a good reputation brand like Stihl. I don’t know what it is about chainsaws, because it seems like I’ve had trouble with gas powered chainsaws in my past. To the point of buying electric versions, which are always under powered.

    • @joshmocherman5528
      @joshmocherman5528 Рік тому

      It's really not that different from the easy start with the primer bubble if you think about it...3 pulls on full choke is like 3 pumps of the primer bubble. Then a couple pulls on half choke and you're there. Obviously it's not as simple as pulling the cord out and letting it start itself upon release but it's simple enough once this start method becomes 2nd nature
      Edit: just realized your comment was a year old. My bad

    • @jamesdozier3722
      @jamesdozier3722 Рік тому

      @@joshmocherman5528 thanks for replying. Very shortly after I posted that comment, I discovered what I was doing wrong. When it says 2 or 3 pulls with full choke, they mean 2 or 3 pull only. I was flooding the engine every time. Now, like you say, it’s become second nature.

    • @joshmocherman5528
      @joshmocherman5528 Рік тому

      @jamesdozier3722 did the same thing til a guy I used to work with taught me the trick. I couldn't believe how there wasn't really any wiggle room with '2 or 3' you might get lucky and be ok with a 4th every once in a while but you don't wanna risk it. That's mainly for an accidental slip up where you didn't stop at 3 and sometimes you're OK and sometimes you're flooded! It really is just 2 or 3 hahaha!
      Now when I'm able to show someone who doesn't know, it's great to see their astonishment! I hated the saw at first, as I'm sure you did, as well as just about everyone who owns one!! But now it's just a great tool to have!
      Hope all is well! I appreciate your response as well

    @joshmocherman5528 Рік тому

    This is definitely the way to start this saw. The company I work for has this same saw and I didn't know the trick at first either. If you pull more than 3 or 4 times on full choke you'll flood it. Then you gotta pull the spark plug and dry everything out. Such a pain in the ass. But if you get it running you'll pretty much be able to get it run every time you need it that day as long as it doesn't cool down. If you wait too long to start it and it cools down completely you'll likely need to use the choke again

      @@RunBikeMike not the choke. The literal stop switch. looks like a black dial above the handle in the middle.

      Oh I see what you are saying. That is just saying move the choke lever up to stop the saw.

      Dang that sucks. I would ask for a new one. Sounds like manufacturers defect. Once I learned how to start mine it works great every time.

    To everyone who tried this and failed. Don't do like me. ON A REALLY HOT DAY, YOU DON'T NEED TO GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO COLD START SETTING. THE ENGINE WILL FLOOD IF YOU DO.

    Hard to start and dies if you let off gas to fast. Worst problem is it doesn't oil enough! Will not have another one!

    Terrible saw MS 250 took brand new one back and even the tech couldn’t get it to run.
    Then exchanges it for a new one. New one runs for one tree cutting and dies. WTH and now won’t start at all or even pop. I will be taking back and get a refund Stihl was good at one time but not anymore.
