The best thing in your review is that you are not shouting like most 'high-speed-over-the-top-yelling' reviewers. You're just sharing the facts in an informative manner. Well done! I have my Osmo Pocket for about 5 months now and I think it is awesome. Nothing beter than mechanical gimbal stabilisation for me, but DJI just launched a Gopro killer with this Osmo Action for sure!. Keep up the good work!
Osmo action 💯. The stabe is is much better, the image looks more dynamic, it's much more rugged, and you can use it as an action cam and underwater. It's a no brainer. I bought the osmo and the footage is great for any circumstance.
Same question as so many on here. What's the resulting FF Comparison between Pocket vs Action+RockSteady+Dewarp I guess the key deciding factors are: Pocket (Narrower View, Panning SloMo, Timelapse / Panorama etc / face tracking) Action (More robust, better walking stabilisation, wider, cheaper bootleg accessories) Very tough call.
@@WeTalkUAV Wow, I sure saw it and it's the most useful thing in the entire video, in teaching me to never put down my PO without shutting it off first!
Excellent Review!! I have both and you nailed the use cases for both. I attach the Pocket (actually the Pocket 2) to the top of the hiking pole then just lift if up off the ground to film. The weight of the pole hanging down (like a pendulum) really stabilizes the camera and make it very inconspicuous when filming while walking down a path, street, alley or places where there are other people. The PROBLEM for me with the Pocket 2 is the screen is so damn small I have great difficulty actually seeing what I am trying to record and have missed so many potentially great shots while travelling because I was unaware that the tilt was off. Let me know if you want lots of videos of people with their heads missing. Anyway - great review. Just subscribed and will be searching for more of your posts.
I have the Osmo Pocket for about 3 months now and I love it. I was waiting for this comparison between the Pocket and the Action. Your comparison hits the mark and best I've seen here on YT. I think your assessment is correct. The Osmo Pocket is better for cinematic shots. And based on your video, I also like the Osmo Pockets dynamic range than the Osmo Action. The video on the Osmo Pocket seems to have better colors for grading as well. I like the field of view of the Osmo Action especially for establishing shots. I think they can complement each other. Thanks for your video it made me decide to jump off the GoPro bandwagon and jump on the Dji Action camera. I think they truly will work together. I just wish one feature to be added on both of these bad boys. I wish DJI would give us more manual control over "sharpness" or at least to disable the sharpening. One more thing, Can you make a low-light comparison video between these two products? I GOT my notification on your channel. Hope to see you do :) It will be of great help to me and for sure for others as well ... Thank you in advance and keep up the good work! :)
One BIG THING that Pocket can do that Action can't is a panning time lapse, which makes scenery look amazing. The remote module makes the pocket even more versatile. Having said that, the Action is more weather resistant and rugged. I bought them BOTH! :D
Man you answered my prayers with this comparison. To summarize, Osmo Action, Wide field of view, slightly better stabilization than Pocket, longer shooting time, water proof, better microphone. Osmo Pocket, Built in gimbal features (switch to front & back, timelapse, object tracking, etc) better HDR, better low light, narrow footprint. The only thing now is the heat management on both. Seems like Pocket still has heat issues compared to Action. While i really like the Osmo pocket for many of the gimbal features, some practical aspects of the Action makes the decision much much harder. Probably adding an affordable gimbal from Zhiyun over the Action might fill all my needs.
Looking for a video with a negative review of the Osmo Pocket+Action so that I'm not tempted to buy it. Ugh they're both SO good. Wish you did some underwater testing too though.
Ahh thank you for doing this video, I was wondering if I should replace my Osmo Pocket with Osmo Action, but you gave me the answer I was hoping for, I'll keep the Osmo Pocket as I do travel videos, and I prefer the cinematic look. Please don't torture your Osmo Pockets like a dying fish! Awesome comparison and best tech tests on UA-cam.
Gimbal is a game changer if you're into making videos for UA-cam or selling it on stock and it makes sense to go with pocket if you're not into any action sports or adventure
Finally somebody is comparing both DJI camera . I think the way i look to UA-cam will be different after the launching of Osmo Action . DJI only send an email to all existing clients and sample camera to 1000 vloggers . And the next day all UA-cam are saying GoPro killer !!! . Maybe this is the smartest and cheapest marketing campaign ever done . Any way , to me I will buy it for two reasons 1- I can use it when rafting with the kids . It is cheaper than the camera man I hired last year with his old camcorder 2- wide angle view that I will need to show more coverage Video. I don’t know if I’m the only person in the world who stop carrying DSLR with 2 extra lenses when traveling with the family and now I travel with 4 small camera ( gimbal, action , 360 and advance point and shoot ie G7 Mark ii) and maybe a drone .
Great review, just one question. Are you sure both can connect external mic 6:30 If so is it through 3,5mm mic input or some kind of USB-C for the Osmo Action?
Well in Your opinion, if you have to choose between them 2 for Vloging, not travelling vlog but studio and sometimes events vlogging, which one is better? Great Job!
I have them both. I prefer the action for simple vlogging. Even though the pocket's gimbal seems well built, the action just seems more rugged for carrying around etc./ high volume use. If you want cool panning scenery shots, the pocket should be considered, but you can also try a handheld slow pan with the action and rock steady.
@@keiserphoto Can we reduce the FOV of the action? I will be using the cam to mount on my motorcycle and occasional vlog and travel type videos. I have a DSLR, so I'm not bothered about low light performance when it comes to videos at night. I will be going with the action as I need rugged build and waterproof capabilities. Any thoughts/ suggestions?
Great comparison! How wide is Osmo Action with RS + dewarp? On GoPro screen gets dim after 3 minutes and it's hard to see outside, how about Osmo Action?

Just bought the Osmo Pocket a few days before the release of Osmo action. Still can’t decide if Osmo Pocket is what I need for travel to Europe. Pocket has the mechanical gimble but the action can fit into more scenarios because it is tougher and rainproof but wide and no mechanical gimble. Arrrgh!
When mounted on a person, the pocket can't comp for z-axis bobble. This makes it difficult for anything but timelapse. All I saw were handheld shots. How well does the Action compare to the pocket when mounted on a backpack strap?
it seems like the osmo pocket gimbal stabilization is a bit bouncy compares to Action‘s rock steady stabilization, is that true? I already got a pocket and also a Sony x3000r, not sure i should sell my pocket to change an action or not🤐
I have the Osmo Action but still wondered if the Pocket would be worth getting as well. From your video the Rocksteady on the Osmo Action is smoother than the Osmo Pocket footage.
