Maybe I'm too emotional, but I find the part in which she's out of drag with the words on her face so touching and powerful. She really conveys the message that harsh destructive criticism comes from a place of insecurity, and how we internalize that and become our toughest critics. Make-up is the token word for weight, skin tone, height, features, or other things we are usually/might be criticized about or scrutinized at several instances in our lives.

I have no idea why I come back to this. This song gives me major childhood flashbacks and idk what that says about me, but all ik is that my childhood was lit
Even before the song got to the end, I had a feeling like someone told him this one time in life and it really hurt him. When people say hurtful things to you, you can't wait to tell it to other people. So when he kept saying it but his eyes were red and he was looking sickly, it made me thing he was representing the disease of hatred and telling someone he hated their makeup out of hatred and numbness for the person who hated on his at one point. I remember putting on make up for the first time as a girl when I was in 7th grade. It was just some cheap kids pink eye shadow. When my step dad said "your eye shadow looks smeared" in a condescending way (it wasn't smeared at all) it really hurt me because I was so excited about getting to wear it that day to school. So I can imagine this guy putting on makeup for the first (no really knowing how to do it because his mom probably didn't teach him etc.. or not really knowing how to do it "drag style" because to a typical woman, we think all drags makeup looks over the top and not appropriate for daily life) time and going out to make a big statement... this was a big deal to him. He was excited about his new image and self conscious but trying to overcome it with stride. Then all the sudden another more rehearsed drag guy tells him, "Sweetie I love you and I see that you are trying but your makeup looks terrible!" I bet that really embarrassed him and cut him pretty deep emotionally.
I think you need to stop being so shallow in your thinking. Alaska is an artist. Artist usually have meanings, whether subconscious or aware of them, to their work
Lucid Dream Character It's an interesting analysis. Clearly, the song and video are meant to show haughtiness and vulnerability. And yeah, those kinds of comments when you're vulnerable can stick with you for a very long time.
She used it in a bit for the show. I'm guessing that this expression goes around a lot in the drag scene, some of them look like the got hit by Homer's makeup gun.

(Just casually commenting 8 months later) have you ever seen the music video for "I Wish I Were Amanda Lepore" by Alaska's ex Sharon Needles? Sharon actually wrote that phrase as part of a suicide note when (s)he was younger; now, as a famous drag queen, (s)he's reclaiming it as a statement of satirical hilarity and cathartic triumph. So I don't see why this analysis (which totally reminds me of Needles' song) is so far off the mark; I think it's an interesting possibility. :)
