I know that I'm not the only one with the celebratory cheer for Range Monkey! It couldn't have been easy to put yourself out there for a million of your closest friends to watch you learning. Thanks for the encouragement! (Even though you're being more efficient in paper usage than my best range day.)
Just watching John teach in this series has made me certain that once I get my instructor certification I’m going to take his instructor class. Guy’s legendary.
The Chronicles of the Range Monkey are some of my favorite videos. I love your interaction and joy. I wish for others to have this same kind of instruction. I did not start shooting pistols until I was in my late 20s and never had an instructor like John. I have learned a bunch from these minutes together. Thank you for sharing! Joined ASP because of it.
Nice work Range Monkey Nat!!! So much fun watching you learn and grow! Between Mom, Dad, and this character (😉) you're going to be going quicker and more accurate than most very soon! Cool stuff!
Love all the little tips you’re giving her, and all of us. Like not moving the arms and head so you can focus on the target while drawing. Very valuable tips
Love the coaching. Building block skills, practical and immediate feedback/verification of successes (timer and the POB [euphemistic pat-on-the-back]).
I don't think I could be that "calm" during training knowing how many people will be watching and still improve that much. Very well done Range Monkey! 😃👍 I look forward to seeing your continued progression Natalie. I have to say I am a bit jealous. Getting private lessons from John would be great. Thanks for putting yourself out there. You are inspiring and encouraging lot of people, including me. 😉 Thanks again and keep yourselves safe! 😎👍❤️🇺🇸 Randy
Nat has chosen wisely...the Beretta PX4 subcompact is my EDC, a well! Kinda hilarious though that she can completely conceal the compact version...as small as she appears to be. I rolled with the subcompact and it is my forever-defense tool. I love the fundamentals that John is drilling - move slowly so you can develop the muscle memory, see your sights. Repetition, repetition, repetition! Awesome lesson!
Well not many “courses” available but he’s in Phoenix, Az so 💁♂️ activeselfprotection.com/training/?avia_extended_shop_select=yes&product_order=date&product_count=40
John, your emphasis on adding pressure to the trigger while cleaning up the sight picture seems to contradict the rule of not touching the trigger until you're on target. Can you explain this? I'm not being critical; I'm a new shooter myself and just trying to understand what seems to be contradictory messages. Thanks!
Don't put your finger on the trigger before you have made the decision to shoot. In this case you have already done so before drawing the gun and can put your finger on the trigger as soon as the gun is pointed towards the target. While cleaning up the sight picture the gun is certainly on target at this distance
The second the gun is pointed down range you are "on target". He is just taking about cleaning up the sight picture. If you have a laser, a dry firing drill is to have the gun parallel to the ground as you are bringing it up. If you ever get a chance to be that close to the backstop, you can also learn to point shoot and even shoot from the hip.
I am just a little behind her in terms of live rounds shot so far. I am not anywhere near as accurate as she is. I did well enough to pass the Texas LTC test but cannot keep putting rounds in the same hole. Also I do not feel even close to ready to practice draw to first shot. Kudos to her for doing so well!
I laughed when I saw she was packing a Px4 storm. Here I am at nearly 6 ft tall and 300lbs and I consider that gun to be too big to comfortably carry/use and she's concealing it in appendix carry just fine and is evidently perfectly comfortable using it.
Sounds like you've got too much of a gut. I can appendix carry quite literally any firearm. Px4, 92, third gen all stainless smith. It all works with a light too.
Natalie has the poise on the range and in front of the camera of a seasoned pro. It won't be long before she is the star and your the "old guy" instructor. The decocker position seems similar to the Sig. What weapon is she using?
She's a sniper! ...i could hear Jedi's voice when you were saying if you're near let it go...don't need to drill 1 hole on paper... but shows progress on the student and good method in teaching
Can you do a short video on how to safely load a round into the chamber, like say after dry firing and heading out for the day? I see alot of new gun owners who don't know how to safely do so. And there's more new gun owners then ever watching your videos!
@@ASPextra Thanks a ton for the information! I have a Sig Sauer P238, and carry it in an appendix holster by Ultimate Holsters, just like Stav's/She Equips Herself, but looking for another quality holster. Thanks again!
Ok I gotta ask John, if she has all that at her home why aren’t you 3 there??? It would be more comfortable for her, your outside so it’s automatically a better atmosphere, plus you’d be able to focus without any random shots or people walking by. Just seems like a better option for teaching somebody new to it all.
9:35 It's sometimes hard to see the difference minimal movement makes because that's what you're focusing on but when he drew here I was like BRUUUH where'd that gun come from? Minimal movement works people, don't doubt it.
Two things to think about here. First, she is such a malleable student. She takes instruction very well. Second, you may be thinking you want a range monkey of your own. Make sure they are good earners. I have four range monkey's and they are ridiculously expensive.
Really like watching her improve.

Jealous that you live on a range and have that awesome trainer!

Excellent training methods as always thank you asp! 🐒
I guess that’s what world class instruction looks like! Amazing job you two!
This is some amazing instructor. I learned a lot from this video. Thanks John!
Great work Natalie ! I’m learning so much from you both, thank you ! I’d like to see a Range Monkey 🐵 shirt to buy !
This instruction is fantastic. Thank you for your professionalism and your willingness to teach.

Very good teacher very good she did good really good
Nice and simple. Well explained. VERY well explained.

Fantastic video! Great work Natalie!! You have an excellent mentor in John.
Such a GREAT instructor.
What a great world it would be if all young women learned the skills and attitude that Natalie has.
Amen!!
Very enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure!
I don't normally comment, but that was amazing work from both of you.
Thanks!
Honestly you're my kind of teacher. I hope to one day have you as my instructor!!

Great tips. A class for all of us.
Is Natalie running a Beretta? Hard to tell. Kind of looked like a Px4 Storm compact.
That's what she was using in the last video, so unless she changed up, probably so
It is a beretta px 4 storm

That dude has a pretty solid explanation. I'm not Korrea tho...

Beretta Px4 Storm, I believe.
Very informative! Great video!
Well done John!
Great instruction. Why do you prefer the Scottsdale location over Tempe?
Draw quickly but put it away very slowly, if you're holstering the gun there should be no reason to be in a hurry.
Nice work, you two!

Because as they were making these first few videos it was still snowing and blowing at home! :)
This popped up on my feed again. Fast forward two years and she has a sub-second draw.
So much great information. Quick question what is the program your using on iPad?

The minimal motion really makes the draw not only faster but harder to see by an assailant.
This helps alot
Awesome!
Cute girl, concealed pistol, great attitude.....way to grab our attention John. Lol just kidding around this is actually an awesome video.
Omg. Thank you!
What gun is she using?
Looks like a PX4 Storm. Buddy of mine carries one. Excellent pistol.
Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
Slow is slow.... fast is fast...
Get Nat her own channel. She is adorable.
I thought he was about to say his martial arts teacher told him that head movement was a bad idea. Yikes, good thing that's not what he said.
good job dad
Um... thanks!
She shooting a beretta storm?
LTT version. Compact Carry.

Advertising break RIGHT before the big success. How cruel 😜
Did you just say under 100 rounds of live fire???
a "couple hundred" is what I heard.
Range 🐒❗
First
But I shot first
@@kobirasheed9332 well you must've missed. Lol
Love me some Natalie
