Definitely getting Conan, if I can get hold of it, and I’ll probably get Carrie
I might try to order direct from arrow us and see what happens
yes mean streets se comin to second sight jan
Picked up ginger snaps collector's set. Mausoleum special edition with slip book new on treasured films 🎥 😊😊
I don't have the Carrie Blu-ray so that 4k is a possibility, Murphy's war pretty sure I have the indicator Blu-ray already but Conan not being a UK release is a blatant gobbing in my face!
Thats one thing that does me head in with arrow the way they do some things in america but not here
A UK company and it seems like they're neglecting the UK market almost.
It’s all down to the license. I have no doubt that if they could have got the U.K. rights they would have.
Hey Graham, after our glowing chats about how Arrow have been recapturing the essence of their glory days it’s a little surprising to see such slim pickings this month?!? The UK only get a token lazy upgrade release. Wow.
Carrie is a great film but I’ve probably watched it enough times in my life to not be excited to watch it on UHD.
Both Conan films definitely would benefit from the upgrade for their cinematic visuals and soundtrack. Straight onto my upcoming import order. I enjoy both movies however Milius’s filmmaking just has something extra, totally admire his bold attempt to elevate a pulpy genre movie to the realms of operatic epic fantasy.
I’m a big fan of Murphy’s Law too. You mentioned that one of the extras included an interview from focus puller Robin Vidgeon. Robin is a legend in the UK film/camera industry. I was lucky to have him as one of my mentors & he went on to be the cinematographer for Hellraiser & Hellbound. He has some amazing stories about his life in the industry.
A bit of a limp announcement
Maybe I’m just in the forgiving mood, but after psycho, Hellraiser, coffin Joe and child’s play I can let this announcement slide.
@@manvfilm I know, I shouldn’t be so critical. There has been such great stuff recently and my Shocktober bits came today along with my 4K House by the Cemetery. Consistently great monthly announcements, of course, are almost impossible to sustain. Maybe if the one release was a bit more ambitious I wouldn’t be disappointed.
Honestly, I’m just miffed that I’ll be spending more on shipping for imports😆
@andygardner3910 what did you get from the shocktober sale?
Garbage month for the uk. But they've had a great year overall with bruce lee and I'm looking forward to coffin joe.
I also have the Indicator version of Murphy's War and already have the Carrie Arrow set on blu ray. I may upgrade Carrie to 4k at some point but I'm not in a rush.
However I love Robert E Howard and have all his collected works (as in physical hardback books!) and I particularly love his Conan stuff and therefore adore the Arnie movies, especially the first one. And I think Basil Poledouris's Conan score is one of the best film scores ever created IMHO! I'll 100 per cent be grabbing these as soon as finances allow. I'm not sure if I will grab the combined 4k set or get both films separately in 4k. Don't think the combined version has anything specifically extra that the separate editions don't and part of me likes the idea of the 2 separate sets/cover art on the shelf. Ah... 1st world problems eh? 😋
I never thought about the individual versions like that, but I think you may have swayed me.
@@manvfilm yeah usually I like a nice box set i but in this case for some reason I'm leaning towards the 2 separate sets.
@@darrenblizzard3851what's your top 3 howard conan stories?
@@steven6979 probably Red Nails, Hour of the Dragon and Beyond the Black River... But it's tough...there are a number of others I could easily include and I like a lot of Robert Jordan's Conan stories as well...
@@darrenblizzard3851 thanks for your reply yeah its hard to rank them which is why I was curious for your input all 3 you picked are classics for sure.
I don't have the blu-ray of Carrie, so that's an instant purchase for me. Disappointing that Conan is US only (whether that means a UK 4K release is forthcoming who can know), but I'm pleased the two films are coming out as seperate options alongside the collection as it means I can avoid 'Conan The Destroyer'. It's an OK film to spend an idle couple of hours but the comedy sidekick just irritates the heck out of me.
I am considering importing Conan, it’s terrific.
I am excited to upgrade my DVD Conan collection to the 4K, so that is excellent news! I am especially excited to hear Basil Poledouris' epic score in Atmos sound. I just need to decide between the set or the individual releases, but I think I like the individual release artwork better, so I will keep an eye on pricing. I still need to check out Murphy's War, but it looks really interesting, for sure. I've seen Carrie a couple of times, and I've also read the novel, but that is enough for me. It's not a favorite of mine. I don't really like the crazy Christian trope, and it goes full on with that. Also, for me it's really a 3-star movie with a 5-star scene (the prom scene, to be specific). I prefer many other King books and adaptations, as well as other De Palma films. However, for those who dig it, I'm sure it will be a nice release.
I recently read the dark tower series, it was fantastic. I have the stand in my to read pile. Never read that one before.
I need to get back to The Dark Tower, as I have read the first three, and they were indeed fantastic. I started reading King in high school and read quite a bit of his work up until about a decade ago. The most recent I read was Doctor Sleep, which I did quite like, but I just haven't kept up since then. I have read about 3/4 of his books from his first forty years. The Stand is a must-read if you enjoy his work, and I also especially liked Salem's Lot, The Shining, The Talisman, It, and Lisey's Story, among many others. The more that you read, it's also quite interesting to notice all the connections he makes between many of his works.@@manvfilm
@cinemaniac78 I love those connections. There is a character from salems lot who comes into the dark tower and it’s a great twist.
I have Wizard and Glass, and I hope to get back to that series in the not-too-distant future. I will look forward to that, thanks!@@manvfilm
@cinemaniac78 oh Wizard and Glass was one of my favourites of the series.
Too late with the Carrie 4k, I've already imported it months ago. No doubt they'll have some nice packaging but I'm not rebuying it just for that, it's likely the same restoration as the Scream Factory edition anyway & even if it's not, I doubt it could improve on it any.
I’m generally happy with my arrow Blu-rays. So I won’t be spending £30 for the bump in picture.
@@manvfilm I probably would've been too if I had bought Carrie on the previous Arrow edition, but I just had it on the bog-standard MGM BluRay so was happy I neved jumped on the Arrow Blu as I just upgraded straight to the 4k.
Not a big fan of upgrading films I already own to 4k, this is very disappointing from Arrow.
