Good onya Phil, Dave (jr), Zakk, Corey, Lemmy, Seb, Rob, great words form some of the greats of metal. Phil was visibly cut and that to me is sad. RIP Jeff we will never forget you contribution, nor stop cranking your awesome tunes!!
Man, life is about moving forward. And that was a day to not just cry around like babies, that was a day that people celebrated his life. Jeff would have wanted the people he loved to just celebrate, and keep the metal going, even on the day he passed.
I know nobody gives two shits, but I gotta tell my Jeff Hanneman inspiration story. I bought the Seasons In The Abyss album and the title track just made me want to start playing guitar, so I did. I got all the gear, learned my scales and chords, and the first song I learned was Jeff's part of Seasons In the Abyss. And it grew from there. I got the Hanneman ESP "Heineken" guitar, I silk screened the logo onto the grill cover on my amp and cabinet, the whole package. Fucking hell, he's gone.
301+ views?? could be any number. This video dedicated to Jeff Hanneman (technically) could be the most viewed video on youtube :D Rest in Peace Jeff Hanneman.
RIP Jeff....my first metal song was "At dawn they sleep" I will pass your riffs on to my kids(If they jam) and anyone that plays guitar.....jam with Dime bro
Thrash band in (or South of) heaven: Vocals - Paul Baloff Lead Guitar - Dimebag Darrell Rhythm Guitar - Jeff Hanneman Bass - Cliff Burton Drums - Gar Samuelson
I wonder what the fuck Sebastian meant by "this life style"... Because it sounds like he thinks that Jeff died of an overdose!! "This life style"... Not yours Sebastian. Jeff was a true legend and a roll model of Metal. NOTHING AND NO ONE can ever replace him!
David Ellefson knew him well since 1983-4 when Kerry was in Megadeth before rejoining Slayer.. they toured often in those early days. And we all know of Clash of the Titans.. massive history. Just handling it well at the awards show I think.
It really is, though I feel Rob was a bit also. The good thing is that Zakk is treating it well; while its ok to mourn, its more important to be celebrating his life and all the good things he did for metal.
cory taylor paid him justice, some of the sickest riffs and solos of all time, reign in blood made me buy a fuckin Jackson guitar the next fucking day!
anyone know the song that starts at 2:00??? it sounds bad ass hell but its not any slayer song i have ever heard and i have heard almost every song they have ever made!
Jeff Hneman was the best metal song writer in the world, song writer of the moment,it was so iresponsible from him to die like that and to leave Slayer alone.Hopefully ,Kery King developed himself as a songwriter and Slayer wil be good as before
It might be because he has quite a bit of responsibility now. He produced Warbeast's new album (the singer is Bruce Corbitt from Rigor Mortis still). I imagine having one's own record label would put age on a face, especially when they are just starting not long ago.
Still doesn't feel like he's gone. I don't think it will because I'm so used to him being away from the band for 2 years already. IF they make another album, I think then it will hit. Sucks. Metal loses the best talent in the world.
Well, Pantera members and Slayer members were close to each other, I mean they were friends. For the others, he was just a great famous musician. "Our trust is in whisky and weed and Slayer, it's goddamn electric."
Despite the fact that, as far as I remember, relations between Phil and Slayer, especially Kerry, could not always be called friendly... Yeah I noticed that too.
Or Gar Samuelson from Megadeth, who passed away in 2001 due to liver failure from years of abuse. But still, I would have expected that Sebastian would know about Jeff's cruel decease, because he had for three years or so.
Phil Anselmo is a really nice and sweet guy. "It's hurting my heart to tell you the truth"
no he's really not
Phil Anselmo, man. What a great way to phrase the heartbreak, dude.
Phil is a genuine dude, gotta admire him
Phil Anselmo made me emotional too!
Rest in peace man... you were and still are a major influence for where I am today. You'll live on through all of us.
RIP JEFF... Thanks for the Songs Riffs and AMAZING shows over the the years. You will be missed... FUCKING SLAYER!!!!
So sad that he will never get the credit of all the things he has composed for the band. So underrated, Rip Hanneman.
There won't ever be another Hanneman! Shred in heaven with dime and cliff brother!!
Man, life is about moving forward. And that was a day to not just cry around like babies, that was a day that people celebrated his life. Jeff would have wanted the people he loved to just celebrate, and keep the metal going, even on the day he passed.

Slayer taught me so much in so many weird ways.. and continues to do so to this day.
RIP JEFF HANNEMAN! You will be forever missed, and immortal through music!
Nice to see you here Matt.
I feel another Slayer lesson is needed soon
Keep it metal, and keep the lessons coming!
1:33 "He's responsible for some of the sickest heavy metal riffs" *horse face* "of all time."
Zakk always turns up for the homies.
It was such a shock to hear that he died.... Nobody really expected it... R.I.P Jeff Hanneman, a true riff king!! \m/
Jeff was THE original Death Metal guitarist
He deserves WAY more credit than he gets
301+ views?? could be any number. This video dedicated to Jeff Hanneman (technically) could be the most viewed video on youtube :D Rest in Peace Jeff Hanneman.
Seeing Phil like that broke my heart. I imagine he was feeling similar, but to a greater degree when Dime died. I miss Jeff...
Phil's voice is amazing
I'm extremely grateful that I got to see Jeff still play with Slayer when I did. R.I.P
I do know that Phil and the entire slayer are amazing friends
Too fast to live, too young to die! RIP Jeff Hanneman.
RIP Jeff....my first metal song was "At dawn they sleep" I will pass your riffs on to my kids(If they jam) and anyone that plays guitar.....jam with Dime bro
Jeff is a metal god.
Is it me or did Phil seem like the only guy who gave a heartfelt response?
RIP Jeff. You could definitely tell Phil was hurting during that interview.
Jeff always had a lyrically and musically darker side to him than Kerry when it came to writing music. Damn what can I say Jeff gonna miss ya buddy.
Everything dies. RIP Jeff. You are a part of my life. :(
Corey Taylor for president. Period.
Phil... he is definitely an emotional guy, you feel it when listening to Pantera...
Thrash band in (or South of) heaven:
Vocals - Paul Baloff
Lead Guitar - Dimebag Darrell
Rhythm Guitar - Jeff Hanneman
Bass - Cliff Burton
Drums - Gar Samuelson
I think Corey's words seem honest as well. He speaks like a fan!!!
I wonder what the fuck Sebastian meant by "this life style"... Because it sounds like he thinks that Jeff died of an overdose!!
"This life style"... Not yours Sebastian. Jeff was a true legend and a roll model of Metal. NOTHING AND NO ONE can ever replace him!
he will lead him through heaven and hell and make him feel home \m/ he's in a good peacefull place now R.I.P. Jeff
My hearts hurting, r.i.p jeff
He's definitely underrated. His riffing influenced so many death and black metal bands.
It's sad to see that Phil and Zakk are the only ones that appear to be actually affected by Jeff's death.
we love Jeff
Anyone know where I can find the full show on the internet? I don't have the channel that it was played on and wanna see it!
love u brother jeff hanneman rip
All that needed to be said my friend.
R.I.P Bro
Rip jeff dam played the show no mercy album today in your honor
By the time I got to the end of this I realized I was crying...
Rest In Peace Jeff.
Phil's Badass Voice
Jeff Hanneman is and always will be Slayer
rest in peace jeff
1:44 Zakk Wylde laughing his ass off in the background lol
Thanks, I found out!
Yeah, you can see in his face and expressions that he is really affected.
Corey Taylor's neck tattoo is a Chinese character which translates "die"
RIP JEFF!!!
amen to that.
David Ellefson knew him well since 1983-4 when Kerry was in Megadeth before rejoining Slayer.. they toured often in those early days. And we all know of Clash of the Titans.. massive history. Just handling it well at the awards show I think.
Another sad day in Metal. R.I.P Hanneman
good to see phil looking healthy
Why... he obviously has great taste in music. Just because you don't like the music he makes is no reason to hate him personally.
It really is, though I feel Rob was a bit also. The good thing is that Zakk is treating it well; while its ok to mourn, its more important to be celebrating his life and all the good things he did for metal.
Rip Jeff and Lemmy
Lemmy: shas shahs shahs hahahaha i love lemmy
Thanks for reading the whole conversation there chuckle head.
Metal has not become fake, the real metalheads are still down there in the underground scene. We should just ignore this mainstream shit.
R.I.P Jeff
cory taylor paid him justice, some of the sickest riffs and solos of all time, reign in blood made me buy a fuckin Jackson guitar the next fucking day!
I was thinking the same shit. Man I look fucking old. Crackin me up. JEFF R.I.P.
R.I.P Jeff Hanneman.
Freeze at 2:02. What band is this?
anyone know the song that starts at 2:00??? it sounds bad ass hell but its not any slayer song i have ever heard and i have heard almost every song they have ever made!
Jeff Hneman was the best metal song writer in the world, song writer of the moment,it was so iresponsible from him to die like that and to leave Slayer alone.Hopefully ,Kery King developed himself as a songwriter and Slayer wil be good as before
RIP Jeff. Haha you can see me in the crowd but i have my damn head turned
R.I.P Jeff :(
It might be because he has quite a bit of responsibility now. He produced Warbeast's new album (the singer is Bruce Corbitt from Rigor Mortis still). I imagine having one's own record label would put age on a face, especially when they are just starting not long ago.
brodrick and ellefsen look like two cavemen that wondered on to the carpet
Still doesn't feel like he's gone. I don't think it will because I'm so used to him being away from the band for 2 years already. IF they make another album, I think then it will hit. Sucks. Metal loses the best talent in the world.
Also holy shit did Zakk Wylde look like a different person twenty years ago vs. now.
***** The truth has been spoken!
aw bless Lemmy
it was very respectable of him to voice his appreciation for Jeff without claiming to know him well.
can you imagine how much hell are raising dimebag and jeff right now?
me too kerry has become the public face of slayer but jeff always seemed to me to be the more, hardcore in a way i can relate to more personally
Well, Pantera members and Slayer members were close to each other, I mean they were friends. For the others, he was just a great famous musician.
"Our trust is in whisky and weed and Slayer, it's goddamn electric."
"It's really a shame. Toured with them a couple of times. I wouldn't say i knew him well but he was a good guy you know?"
what is edm? not sure what is supposed to mean.
Great Jeff! \m/ \m/
SLAYER!!!!!!!!
Despite the fact that, as far as I remember, relations between Phil and Slayer, especially Kerry, could not always be called friendly... Yeah I noticed that too.

But still, I would have expected that Sebastian would know about Jeff's cruel decease, because he had for three years or so.
i cant believe how old dave ellefson looks... holy shit he aged 50 years in a decade
It sucks that Jeff´s gone...
Corey Taylor, lead vocalist for both Slipknot and Stone Sour
oh, btw - could anyone translate what Lemmy said? Cause I don't understand a thing.
Most of these bands wouldnt even exist without Hannamen
And Peter Steele. A man made for death but embraced it too soon.
Behind the tough guy, I'l-kill-you-with-my-bare-hands attitude, Phil is a crying baby. I love that in him.
When I watched this I thought " Man these guys are looking old" , then I went to take a piss and saw myself in the mirror. Time is a bitch.
I agree
jeff wrote the best slayer riffs. its pretty scary
Anselmo, The man.
I'm spechless, I still can't believe Jeff Hanneman passed away.
