Thanks a lot for this very clever idea. I however did modify your witty set-up to suit what I already owe : several Andoer base plates to fit on a light Manfrotto tripod and Ronin SCI2 and a Benro Turtoise tripod with a S4Pro video head. As this latter one as a long 501PL plate which doesn't fit in the Ronin, I fitted the Benro long plate and screwed it tight on the tripod and screwed the Andoer Quick release plate on it, keeping my ordinary Ronin plate (of small size) on Lumix S5 and it works like a charm ! Thousand thanks to you ! You made my day and saved me hours (already spent quite a few) trying to find an alternative.

This helped me select the Oben QRA R2 product for my needs. Very informative and useful, and my results mirrored your evaluation(s). Thank you! I would add, it would be useful if Oben sold individual receiving release plates instead of the entire assembly (the RP-20 insert plates, which attach to the camera, are sold separately but not the release plate). In reality, I need 4 or so release receiver plates and just 1 or 2 insertion plates. But overall, a great solution.

Thank you, this was the perfect tutorial. It's a great tripod add on to move quickly between handheld and tripod shots.

Thank you, after watching a few videos I came across your video. First person to actually explain the quick release and the two parts needed. Thank you no more returns(I hope)

Nice video it was really helpful to see your adaptations. Just FYI there are plenty of metals that are not ferromagnetic. Metals that are attracted to magnets usually have iron in them which has the strongest attraction in it's most common state. Zinc is very cheap and reasonably strong and light weight so possibly it's a zinc like many cheap parts and hardware are.

In the exact same boat. Same issues. Same pros and cons w/ this QR system. I wish PD made a plate that fit this Oben QR adapter. Or, I wish Manfrotto made a more quality version of this. type of QR. I have issues with the lower quality rubber not holding my plate on, and not preventing left/right torque loosening of the plate. Ugh.

@6:54 for reference. If I knew this key point earlier, I might not have invested in the Oben. One workaround is to add a Peak Design Capture or Arca Swiss mount on top of the Oben. You may end up with triple mounts though 😆

They are still working. None of them have broke. Though I wouldn't mind something with a better build quality.
