Yeah drives me crazy. Also going from glidecam to tripod! Bit of self promo, but if youre ever feeling down and need a little giggle, check my "Freestlye Traffic Control" video. Thanks dude have a good one, ill be following for more tips!
When I acquire new plates, if they don't have D-rings, I ALWAYS replace them, can't stand those that don't, when your in a hurry or packed down with gear you just don't have the time or option to whip out a screw drivers or coin to remove! BTW, nice to see you using sound FX! More video from outside please, it looks cool, literally! :) It's been awhile since I have been to the land of ice and cold, I entertained the idea of moving there once but decided, probably not much work there for a celebrity photographer!

+00Skyfox You can get that same tripod (in the 67" variant) for around $70 in Amazon, and I also paid less than the price that it is now. It's a good option if you don't want to scout around on ebay or if the shipping of the ebay tripods makes it more expensive than buying it in your country's Amazon (as was my case). Nevertheless, for the price it is now, I don't believe there are better alternatives. It's pretty robust. www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-67-Inch-Video-Camera-Tripod/dp/B00CEH7VG8
RGon I paid about $42 for it on eBay back in 2013, so I'm surprised the price has gone up so much. While it's a decent tripod for amateurs like me, I'd say it's not quite up to par for the professionals because, while it is a fluid head tripod with grease-filled joints, from a standstill it still takes a bit of force to make it move, causing a slight motion pop, and then it moves very smoothly after that even at a very slow speed with light pressure. But stop again and it'll do that pop motion the next time (it sometimes helps to move it back and forth very rapidly first to "warm up" the grease).
+00Skyfox My model seems to suffer from that same problem that you state, but now, with some use, it happens just when I take it right out of the bag. If I move it just once to "warm it up", it no longer has that. It comes back if I leave it resting for some time. Maybe mine has got a lighter grease? I bought mine about 6 months ago. When I just bought it it had that very same problem and it was very pronounced, but in a few days it got quite better. However, I believe that if you want to upgrade the head, a better one will cost you more than the tripod itself. I would only trade this one off for a counterweighted one. The problem I have is that the clips that extend the tripod's legs came somewhat loose, so in a few weeks they started to slowly collapse under my camera's weight when I used a heavy lens. But after tightening those up, it supports a huge ammount of weight. They provided the needed allen wrench in the box, so I'm fine with doing that kind of manteinance if I need to.
I bought three of them to put on all my tripods, monopods and steadycam systems, so i can quickly switch between them. all the QR-40 sell on eBay now are all full metal made and does not expose the spring under the lever, and cost less than $10.
LOtography Weyn I ended up buying a cheap $15 Neewer one on amazon. Although this works it is very temperamental and will often take many tries to release it, not to mention the fact that the bottom isn't flat which means I needed to raise the plate up off of the glidecam. I recommend either buying a legit manfrotto one , or what is even better IMO is if you shell out $30-$60 on a manfrotto brand long plate. Not only is this the plate I use with my tripod it also allows you to move the camera make and for the hi how is useful to do when changing lenses or focus as opposed to changing the fine adjustment knobs. It may seem like a lot to spend but it will make your life so much easier when filming or doing quick adjustments when on a glidecam. Trust me.
@@realworld1626 I said from personal experience for the quick release plate at 1:13 because I use it, and for the other cheap ones I don't know if they are safe because I don't have them
The Manfrotto products are INFERIOR. I have used them for decades and suffered for their CHEAP, primitive cast pieces cracking and breaking off. I am finally finished with Manfrotto as it is a problem system.
Youve solved my glidecam/tripod problem in a couple of minutes, Thanks dude! big ups!

I just bought 3 of the Manfrotto quick release for all three of my tripods. They seem to suit my needs rather well.
Sima Quickonnect on eBay link not working. I sure hope those other plates will work
Are they safe ?
what is the second pin on the quick release plate
Could the newer generic one hold my Canon T6i?
I personally love Arca Swiss style mounts! They are great, universal and cheap!
I need a wider longer release plates. Those are pretty small.
What can you recommend for bigger cameras and heavier equipment.

So the same day you upload this video, I get delivery of three of the Manfrotto clones :>P

Hi, could say me where dis you bay it ?? Thanks :)
I was just wondering, what is the best quick release plate to use on a Glidecam HD-1000 with a Canon T3i (560g) + Lens 100-200g
Hello , looking for the same setup ...which quick release plate did you buy ?

Littlepeople thanks man !
Thanks for the info. I really like the one with the levels. I may give that a try.
Found these on Amazon. Thanks for the review.
Great review and find!
Do they film ?
If I missed it in your review, did you actually use the newer quick release?
If so, on what camera and on what set-ups? Thanks.
Does anyone knows exact weight of this plate?
Are they safe ?
@@realworld1626 Yes, the quick release plate is secure, and holds the camera firmly on the glidecam.
@@marko_vic even the cheap ones?

Thanks, always helpful
Thanks, I just bought it for less than $2 in China
