- Over 600 lawyers in India, among them senior advocates Harish Salve and Pinky Anand, have expressed apprehensions regarding efforts by a "vested interest group" to exert influence on the judiciary. In a letter addressed to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, these lawyers asserted that the group was resorting to pressure tactics to sway judicial decisions, particularly in matters concerning political figures and allegations of corruption.

1. SC and the entire judiciary must blame itself for all the mess that is floating around. 2. First, It delays matter inordinately. And while deciding the case after such delays, it does not take into account wide spread, common sense deleterious effects of delays when it gives decision retrospectively. Secondly, it gets into issues where it is not required to do so. Thirdly, it does not get into issues where it could do so. Fourthly it itself does not hold up to the standards it demands from others. Fifthly, it talks unnecessarily and idiotic as obiter dicta which causes damage to the accused. 3. For example, has SC decided quickly on Maharashtra UBT Sena case on day 1 or Electoral Bonds could have been suspended on day 1, if they were prima facie so obnoxious, then the course of subsequent events would have been different. In case Nupur Sharma, the vitriolic obiter dictas by both the judges were shocking to say the least. The other day HC could have got into the issue of CM working from jail cell and decided on the issue but it chose to shy away! 4. Despite all smooth talking by CJI, the fact is that the image of SC has fallen badly during his time. There is no problem whichever way court decides but do it on time and decide with common sense apart from legal principles.
@vipimswammy-dj4jy respected sir that is an absolutely absurd characterisation of circumstances. We live in a global polity therefore international state actors are well within their rights to comment. Whether we take such comments seriously is a matter of choice. With regard to the AAP having western backing because Raghav Chadha went to London for an eye surgery or because the German govt and the American govt issued statements is absurd. The reason statements have been issued are because the arrest of a sitting CM of Delhi the national capital of India who won a majority of 62 out of 70 seats in the state elections is an unprecedented situation in the history of our country. The fact that this arrest comes on the eve of a national election is highly questionable. It’s like giving fodder to the popular bhakt notion that we got independence in our country in 2014. I mean come on 😂😂
And might I mention that the US govt issued a similar statement during the abrogation of Article 370. So kindly check your facts.

When judgements are only based on constitutional provisions strictly no one can talk of bias. The top court should only entertain those cases which have a constitutional question to be answered and not all from corrupt politicians running for cover!

Mr. sautik if you can answer. could you please enlighten us on the quick listing of cases in the supreme court by some senior advocate while a plethora of cases are pending in front of the honorable supreme court? if the court and the establishment as you said has a broad shoulders can he also let us know why our courts have shown no interest in reducing the ever-growing numbers of pending cases.
Respected Sir our country’s Hon’ble SC has the widest jurisdiction in the world. Under Article 32 for violations of fundamental rights, under Articles 132(1), 133(1) and 134 through appellate jurisdiction from matters in appeal from the Hon’ble High court, under Article 136 through special leave to appeal which allows parties to move the Hon’ble Supreme Court to hear the matter directly without going through the proper channel of appeal. Under Article 143 with advisory jurisdiction as invoked by the excellency the Hon’ble President of India. There are provisions for reference or appeal to Hon’ble Supreme Court under Article 317(1) of the Constitution and other statutes. Election Petitions under Part III of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections Act, 1952 are also filed directly in the Supreme Court. Under Articles 129 and 142 of the Constitution, the Supreme Court has been vested with power to punish for contempt of Court including the power to punish for contempt of itself. With powers to invoke Suo Moto jurisdiction on matters of grave importance as decided by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, not to forget the Hon’ble Supreme court’s power to hear Public interest litigation. Our Hon’ble Apex Court have probably the greatest burden on them and do have very broad shoulders. The Hon’ble Apex Court is probably one of the most vital if not the most vital organ of our country. It is a critical organ to keep the legislature and executive in check despite that it also safeguards citizens and body incorporates across the country.. The reason for pendency in the Hon’ble Apex Court is a function of having a large population and that cannot be attributed as a failure on their part at all. The Hon’ble Apex court unlike the rest of the world sits everyday handling hundreds of matters. Let us be careful when we question our courts. Can the pendency be handled better sure, but that too is for the legislature to decide not the courts.
This is an opportunity for the judiciary in India to teach other world leaders of the power and wisdom of our system!
I doubt any other institution in the world, public or private has such a huge backlog of work, and yet enjoy summer and winter vacations like school children. There is hardly any room left for defamation after that, I don't think judiciary is unfair or biased. It is just lazy.

There are lawyers who are members/ leaders/ MPs/ Ministers of political parties . When they are no longer MPs and Ministers, they come back to the courts. When they deal with cases, they do not forget their status and they become snobbish. I have quoted one case in my autobiography. When I was a judicial Magistrate in Karnal , Mool Chand Jain who was a lawyer and MP appeared in my court and shouted at me. I told him that if you misbehave as a lawyer, I will deal with you on contempt of Court and if you are misbehaving as an MP you go out and strike your head on the road. He made a complaint against me to the Chief Secretary, Punjab. The Deputy Commissioner, the District and Sessions Judge and the Commissioner , Ambala Division wrote letter to the Chief Secretary stating that the complaint was frivolous.
Nandi and her ilk were happily writing to USA, UK , EU to deny Modi visa entry ..

This isn't the first time open letter has been sent. Why so much discussion ?
Simple it's an attack and rightfully soon those lawyers of the top court who question the Supreme court when they don't get a favourable judgement or order.
I'm afraid, being a common person, to name them but the nation knows them, they fight all cases for the Indi alliance parties.
They have pressurized the top court always. Respect of the judges to senior advocates has been misused. They have not spared the judges of abusive language even. But the top court has always been lenient so much so that they had to impose only ₹1 fine for contempt.
They are establishment, arguably and power that be, unfortunately.

It is sad that these 600 lawyers are actually interfering, intimidating and irritating the CJI. We common man are now aware who is wrong. All judgements are very fair Artical 370,judgement and electoral bonds we landmark judgement. Shame on Tushaar mehta to joi this bandwagon. The judges here are sounding like politicians. Worst is Nedumbara and Agarwala. Our hope is CJI. He is strong. He will not be bothered with these threats.

Problem is that court is not fair. Are investigation agencies are fair. No. Only few has the guts to speak the truth in these times. False cases have been slapped on political opponents as well as social activists and SC is functioning as a mute spectator against what is their duty. Everyone knows inclination of Bela Trivedi and Sanjeev Khanna.
The judges have only themselves to blame for the liss of credibility by they way tgeh conduct themselves sucking up to political powers that be. A few individuals that do not fall in line with political objectives are an exception today. It the beginning of the end.
That lady named Karuna clearly has a bias, and is trying to mislead the audience by saying- the issue is politicized because of the tweet from the Prime minister who she claims is trying to put added pressure on the judges. Read the tweet again, you can clearly see that the PM is taking a political dig at the congress and its his right make a political comment, nowhere did he mention the judges to do the right thing or try to nudge them to take a stand for or against a particular issue. But that is exactly what Kapil Sibal tried to do in open court when he said- The judges must reflect on their current stand & drew a comparison to the so called golden era of the judiciary during UPA!

Constitution framers were not fools to incorporate section 32. Section 32 was added only for these times. Ambedkar said article 32 is the soul of the constitution.
Sibal, Singhvi, Bhushan, Jaising, Dave & other members of exclusive club has been gaming judicial processes & judgement outcomes and that has to end. It is required if confidance of Indian citizens has to be upheld in judiciary.
You are wrong...let The Highest court of the land which also handles High profile cases...do its job..in life especially politics there are always interpretations...counter interpretations and perceptions created....The courts mediate only when petitions are filed and accepted if it has importance for national or constitutional importance...they are learned Judges... irrespective of taking pro or anti Govt stands...The SC will settle and pass judgements which is. Good for all of the citizens of India..not for a few...So we need to take their pronouncements in the stride...

See how the Delhi HC functions against Kejriwal? Why doesn't he get bail? There ruling party has a hold. The Delhi HC Judges might be aware of the good changes/ developments happening in Delhi, still when Kejriwal speaks, you can see the blank expression she has while hearing him.

How did the vested interests become bold.They took a cue from the SC’s activism.If the CJI deems it fit to repeal laws passed by the Parliament retrospectively then the there is no need for a Government.The electoral Bond verdict is a scar in the judicial history of India.
The parliament passed a law granting secrecy to the Donors and the SC strikes it off after 5 years close to the elections retrospectively.What is this timing after 5 years.If the SC felt the law passed by Parliament is illegal then they should have struck it down.In every case that will impact the governemnt in the run up to the elections the S C is having a over reach.Just cancel elections and take over the government.I am reminded of what Indira did in Emergency and which judges benefited.That included the longest serving CJI after emergency.This is being repeated and wokeism is at its brightest .Now the vested interests will ask the results to be counter mandated in all constituencies ,if they loose.I think the balance of power between Judiciary and Parliament is seriously eroded in favor of the S C.So who is responsible for encouraging this vested interest?

All what you said is debatable...SC is doing its job...because they are a 5 bench panel convinced that Citizens have the right to know the donors...no secrecy..this is after a petition was argued over months...Govt cannot get all judgements in its favour...some can go against...If there's nothing to hide...then as the SC says all details etc to be clocked in 12th March ..not June ...and ECI to publish list of Donors by 15th March...Pretty fair and square...
