The original thunder God Raiden. The Mortal Kombat creator John Tobias said his creative idea for creating Raiden and Shang Tsung came from this movie. Raiden came from this guy and Shang Tsung came from David LoPan.
You are absolutely correct sir! Johhny Cage inspiration came from Van Damme, Sonya Blade (Cynthia Rothrock) and Liu Kang was our main man Bruce Lee. BONUS INFO The ninja Reptile was played by no other than Keith Cooke an actor from Cynthia Rothrock's "China O'Brien" and an OUTSTANDING martial artist from the 80s.

Always loved Jack saying, "We got a problem" so bluntly. Everything else they've dealt with to this point, and Lightning showing up creates a problem.
Nice observation. Jack pretty much disrespects everyone in the whole film openly, and this is the only moment he doesn’t have a candid response.

But....if you notice, Lightning is only showing off as a distraction... you see, he destroyed the ceiling above him, thereby negating any escape in that direction. In addition, Thunder, having destroyed himself and the room preceding him, the heroes escape route was nul an void, save for the hole in the ceiling directly above them. So, we're it not for that lucky escape hole, then Lightning would've done away with our heroes.
The CGI on the lightning was legit!
I still remember the first time I seen the film I thought everyone was dead and had forgotten all about Lightning till he appeared in this scene.

My god how is this character more raiden than the actual mortal kombat movies raiden
I know this was the idea for Raiden and I'm totally cool with that, this is one of my favorite of all time, I even imitate the sounds of this movie. But what I didn't like was MLK using a white guy to play the Japanese God of Thunder and I say thank you for changing it back for new movie. Also that entrance walk was badass, or juggling the lightning to attack Ege but he was ready with the fan block.

As a Bartender/security guard, lightning taught me how to walk towards a problem customer, Be loud, show strength and walk slowly but menacingly towards them. Most of the time they leave quickly. 😂

I Think that’s the joke
Lo Pan would had survive if he wasn't so desperate to have flesh again. Having flesh means he's mortal now and could easily be killed but he needs to be mortal so he could feel love from the woman he just married. Spoiler Mao Yang is clearly Lo Pan's wife now since he wed her and pleased Chin Dai, the God of the East, before Wang took her. Doesn't matter if Wang is her fiance, Lo Pan did legally married her. Because Lo Pan is mortal, the Three Storms quickly loses their cool.
That's the whole point of the movie lol

If it wasn't for their plot armor, they were dead. Lightning was an untouchable Boss for them but killed via QTE style.

Always wondered why thunder self destructed when lo pan died but lightning remained.
I think Thunder was so upset by Lo Pan's demise he literally exploded. It may have also been a last ditch effort to kamikaze the heroes.
